Overall, this is one of a good choice when you travel in Macau. The problem is the operation of hotel shuttle bus, it is provided a small mini-bus for the rounting of Macau Pier but it always full house once a few groups of hotel guests on the same ferry arrival. If you can't get on the bus, you will have to wait for the next one in 15 minuets later. Particularly, their staff also have the priority to get on the bus. In addition, they don't have the shuttle bus running between Cotai and the hotel. Not like the other 5 star hotels.

Bonjour,

Dear Accorhotels.com traveler. (Aka Beetles13)

We would like to apologize for the unpleasant experience when using the property Shuttle Bus. This issue has been addressed to Ponte 16 and now we are looking for an action plan that can benefit all our hotel guests.

Meanwhile our property counts with 2 routes: Zhuhai Border and Macau Ferry Terminal. If you would like to visit other big casinos in Taipa or Macau, there are several ways to do it:

1.- Taking a Taxi – Certainly some times of the day is really complicated to find an available cab.

2.- City Bus – Depending on your destination our Concierge can provide helpful instructions.

3.- Shuttle Bus – From Sofitel you can go to the border gate or ferry terminal and from there you have an extensive selection of different Shuttle Buses that go to Macau or Taipa.

On the other hand, we are happy to know that your overall experience was satisfactory.

Thank you for taking the time to share with us your recent stay at the Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16. We are looking forward to welcoming you back soon!

Yours Sincerely,

J.P. Rodriguez

Just spend one night in Macau. The staff was very friendly. Got upgraded room which was pretty, and i enjoyed the L'Occitane bathing amenities provided by the hotel! The wifi was also fast.

A few minutes walk to the main tourist attractions.. Easy to reach using Sofitel / Ponte 16 free shuttle service available in front of the ferry pier.

Reviewed March 10, 2013

Stayed here last week (5-7 March), from the moment the automatic door of the taxi opened to getting out said taxi, I had a feeling that this wasn't going to be a typical sofitel experience.

No porter to offer to take our luggage - not a major issue, luggage has wheels.

Arrive at reception and greeted in a somewhat relaxed attitude and typical "Bonjour, welcome to sofitel" greeting - but again, not with the usual "sofitelness".

"Checking in sir? Please line up over there" - We were a little put out by this as the Guest Service Agent seemed to be looking after nobody else. So we proceeded to the "check in" area and waited in line - no priority Le Club check in line either.

After a few minutes waiting another staff member who was in the lobby asked us if we were checking in and directed us to the very same gentleman who had asked us to line up at the check in area.

After completing the formalities - very little conversation was made during this point in time - was politely informed that our assigned room wasn't ready, however if we wanted to have to single beds we'd be able to check in right away.

Now I appreciate the offer, but being a Le Club Platinum member, I would have thought a little bit of extra effort would have been forthcoming. So we declined the offer and was asked to see concierge to store our luggage. I then asked the staff member if he could deliver our bags or have concierge come over and take our bags for us (afterall 5 star hotel standard etc etc)

We then decided to take a walk around and grab a bite... Non eventful dim sum restaurant adjacent to the hotel was the venue...

After that a quick trip to check out the casino to kill time and then back to reception to see our "friend" to see if our room was ready. Room was ready (wonderful) - and again being a Le Club Platinum member thought our "friend" would inform us of the little upgraded room type that we would be getting - maybe it's just me, but I like to know that if I'm entitled to something that I'm going to be told that I've been given it.

Enter the room and missing all the extras as usually offered as a Le Club Platinum member - welcome drink (usually in the form of a voucher but that's property specific) and a welcome gift. Was given an upgrade from a city view to a river view - no complaints there.

Now as we had arrived "early" I thought maybe it was because of this that the amenities hadn't arrived - and an hour or two later there was a knock on the door with a staff member and a bottle of red wine and some sofitel chcocolates - no sign of the welcome drink though!

To be honest a pretty unimaginative "welcome gift", though having read a number of travel forums commenting on the same thing I was adequately prepared for the disappointment.

Turn down service was very nicely prepared and the room serviced to the Sofitel standard.

Breakfast was my other big let down, normally I rave about a Sofitel breakfast especially the (what I thought was a standard) choice of espresso coffee when being seated - instead we simply received filtered coffee in a silver urn. The food wasn't fantastic either, it was ok for a buffet but not a Sofitel buffet!

Overall a little let down by the experience, considering my Le Club status, and I sincerly hope that whichever department is responsible for guest amenities and welcome gifts starts to use their imagination a bit more - we're no longer in the 1980's and I know Sofitel have some pretty cool gifts available!

Would I stay again, I would need some coercing and convincing that's for sure!

The service was excellent, from the concierge and front desk to the servers in the restaurants and the staff in the gym/pool/spa areas. They are all friendly and unreservedly helpful.
Boyfriend and I spent three nights here in a Club room: the benefits included a quieter breakfast area at the Club Lounge on the 17th floor, special rooms on the exclusive Club floor on the 16th, and discounts on drinks at the bar, among other things that I didn't pay much attention to. I had read that the rooms had bath supplies from L'Occitane, but the Club rooms were stocked with Hermes - was a nice touch.
The breakfast buffet on the 17th floor was mainly Western, will an array of bakery goods/yogurt/cheese/salad bar, an egg station that also had crepes made to order, pancakes and waffles, espresso machine, fresh juices, cereals. The fruit section was disappointing in its lack of choice, but was a small thing that was easily overlooked. With ceiling to floor windows, you could start your morning with a few of Macau island, and casually point out all of the places you had visited the day before.
The breakfast buffet on the 6th floor is much larger, with a spread including Chinese noodles cooked fresh, a chocolate fountain, dimsum in addition to the things you could find upstairs. The view was of the outdoor swimming pool (and I imagine the river and China beyond that, but the weather was so bad the day we were there that all we could see was fog).
This is the place to go if you are looking to get away from the glitzy casino central of Macau and explore the city itself. It is located a mere 10-15 minute walk from Senado Sq (and in extension, the remnants of St Paul's Cathedral, Forte de Monteleza...etc), but even this little bit of distance does wonders in removing the Sofitel's guests from the stress and commercialism of tourist attractions.

Room Tip: If you are looking to splurge, the Club rooms are worth it!

Few minutes walk or one bus stop from city center (Senado Square), hotel is overlooking peaceful Inner Harbour. Close to old, typical chinese-influenced quarters which were filmed as 1930s Shanghai in "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom". Hotel has casino, as virtually all big macanese hotels do, but it is much less noisy, and rooms are very romantic and couples-oriented.
Everything you may expect from Sofitel elsewhere, perfectness almost in all. In comparison to other parts of the world, advantages are good price and Occitane toiletries (i never mind, but your girlfriend would be crazy about). Disadvantage is payable internet acess for quite high price.

The staff was very friendly, and the food was excellent. The room was lovely, and the location is good. There is a casino at the hotel as well. We could walk to the city center and the historic center of Macau. There is no shuttle bus to the airport, and the check in time is late (3 pm), not sure if this is the case for other hotels in Macau.

Thank you very much for taking the time to share with us your recent experience at the Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16.

Stayed in this hotel for 2 nights with my Mum

Hotel is in a good location a short walking distance from the main strip, but a good located hotel for the historic sites which was nice

Room was nice but quite small, was expecting a massive big room, but still was fine, a nice bathroom and a nice view..

The Michael Jackson museum in the hotel was nice...

Staff were friendly throughout the hotel and real helpful, we really wanted tickets to see the show 'the house of dancing water' but the tickets were sold out, but the concierge at the hotel managed to get us two tickets for the same day, was so wonderful and was an amazing show, but so thankful we got to see it as we were only in Macau for two nights..

Spa was lovely and included, nice swimming pool, sauna and good facilities..

Would definitely stay here again if I went back to Macau
