Sofitel Macau At Ponte 16
Ranked #14 of 95 Hotels in Macau
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed January 3, 2013

My husband, dad and step-mother just returned from a three night stay at the Sofitel in Macau. We all loved the room, it was absolutely gorgeous, one of the nicest we have ever stayed in and we generally stay in 4+ star hotels. The bathroom had a TV to watch while in the bathtub and the window curtains were electronic. The bed was super comfortable. The location is not in the same "cluster" as the other hotels like The Wynn and Lisboa but is a quick and pleasant 15-20 walk down a main road. Plus there are tons of free shuttles to the other areas, from both our hotel and the others like the MGM (also a short walk). Plus, there is a free shuttle to the harbor if you want to take a turbo jet to Hong Kong, it was quick and painless. This hotel is more closely located to the historical sites. I found the location great and easy to get around. The breakfast buffet was delicious. There was a massive selection of local and Western food, so there is something for everyone. It is bit pricey but we arrived 15 minutes before the buffet was closing on our first day and got a 40% discount, I am not sure if this is normal practice but it was great value. The staff were excellent and very attentive. However, do not visit Cafe MJ located in the lobby. The service was terrible, the food took forever and was not very good. The staff in MJ spoke no English, I expect at a minimum, a very basic ability to communicate, as the rest of the staff in the hotel was able. We did not try any of the other restaurants (other then the breakfast buffet), so I can not comment if they were good or not. Overall, it was a great place that all four of us highly recommend and would stay there again.

Bonjour!

Dear Accorhotels.com traveler. (aka VanCan2012)

Wow! Thank you very much for such a detailed description of your recent stay at the Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16. We are sure all fellow travelers will find it very useful!

As you mentioned in your review, the property is located in the Macau Island, which is the old side of the city but the one with charm, history and culture in every corner. Senado square and The Saint Paul Ruins are within a 10 minutes walking distance. We are happy to know you discovered all the possible ways to move around Macau, it might seem challenging but it is really easy once you know where to go.

We sincerely apologize for the unfortunate experience in our MJ bar. Your feedback has been shared with our management team and we are working right now on finding the key problem to start giving a correct and fast solution.

We hope to see you soon at Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16! Wishing you, your husband, dad and stepmother an incredible New Year 2013!

Best Regards,

M. Dirks

The most beautiful experience gong to Macau is to stay at Sofitel..Why? It's near Senado Square, The Church Ruins, and above all the "magnifique" experience when you stay at Sofitel. From the time you arrived, and the time you checked out, you will be pampered with all the smiling staff ...Kudos to all!

This is one of the nicer hotels in Macau. The rooms are fantastic and my family love the bed.
Additionally, there are no noise interference and casino is well away from the rooms. Only issue is there is a difficulty of getting taxis in the area sometimes.

Bonjour!

Dear Accorhotels.com traveler. (aka hooverct)

Thank you for your positive feedback. It is really motivating to start this New Year 2013 with this outstanding comment.

We are happy you and your family found a “Home away from Home” in our little French corner. Indeed, Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16 is located in the Macau Island that is known for it’s cultural and historical scenic spots which limits the noise of the nightlife that Macau is famous for. Nevertheless, a 15-minute taxi drive will take you to enjoy the wild and crazy adventures that Taipa Island has to offer.

Our Concierge are always available to suggest you the best places, restaurants and attractions in order to make your stay in Macau unforgettable.

We hope to welcome you and your family again soon!

Bonne Année 2013!

Sincerely yours,

M. Dirks

Our stay at Sofitel Macau was faultless. We got a free upgrade to a club room complete with Hermes toiletries and were treated like a king and queen throughout our stay. The location of the hotel was ideal and within walking distance to Senado Square and St Paul's Ruins. The stay was worth every cent of the HKD$1700 we paid and more.

We left very happy and satisfied guests. I would definitely recommend anyone to stay at Sofitel Macau.
