My husband, dad and step-mother just returned from a three night stay at the Sofitel in Macau. We all loved the room, it was absolutely gorgeous, one of the nicest we have ever stayed in and we generally stay in 4+ star hotels. The bathroom had a TV to watch while in the bathtub and the window curtains were electronic. The bed was super comfortable. The location is not in the same "cluster" as the other hotels like The Wynn and Lisboa but is a quick and pleasant 15-20 walk down a main road. Plus there are tons of free shuttles to the other areas, from both our hotel and the others like the MGM (also a short walk). Plus, there is a free shuttle to the harbor if you want to take a turbo jet to Hong Kong, it was quick and painless. This hotel is more closely located to the historical sites. I found the location great and easy to get around. The breakfast buffet was delicious. There was a massive selection of local and Western food, so there is something for everyone. It is bit pricey but we arrived 15 minutes before the buffet was closing on our first day and got a 40% discount, I am not sure if this is normal practice but it was great value. The staff were excellent and very attentive. However, do not visit Cafe MJ located in the lobby. The service was terrible, the food took forever and was not very good. The staff in MJ spoke no English, I expect at a minimum, a very basic ability to communicate, as the rest of the staff in the hotel was able. We did not try any of the other restaurants (other then the breakfast buffet), so I can not comment if they were good or not. Overall, it was a great place that all four of us highly recommend and would stay there again.
