“Old Macau”
Reviewed October 5, 2013

Very busy when we visited as it was a holiday. Wish we had more time and space to wander. Our tour guide was on a mission to get us from A to B . Suggest you wonder on your own after the tour has finished.

“Nothing but shops for mainland Chinese - poor preservation”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

The historic centre of Macau has not been preserved at all, it has been taken over by tourist shops for Mainlanders.

Clearly, the administration of Macau cares little for the preservation of the Portuguese 'colonial past' of Macau.

It is pretty much just Chinese now.

“Nothing special”
Reviewed October 2, 2013

Didn't really enjoy the area - with how much money has gone into some of the casino's in Macau you would think this attraction would have been kept up to scratch - but unfortunately this is not the case! Nothing really worth seeing but if your not into casino's then it's one of the few things to see!

“Too overrun”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

looking back over a decade it was very enjoyable to just stroll around the main and side streets to relax. now the old town is too overrun by tour groups and hardly possible to even get through the main streets. it is of course still impressive as UN heritage and gives you the feel of being in old Europe. Definitely worth a visit if you have never been!

“Lovely”
Reviewed September 29, 2013

Well worth the effort of getting there. We took a local bus No. 3 because we were told the taxi drivers speak very little is any, English. So everything has to be written in Chinese and/or Portuguese.
The bus driver was unbelievably rude and of no help but an English speaking Portuguese girl on board the bus was very helpful with directions.
This area is very European in style. Very much like the Spanish steps in Rome. Good shopping and beautifully lit at night. Then a walk around will take you to the Wynns Casino and their nightly water feature.
There are people everywhere so walking appears safe and the night lights are just amazing.
