Checked in at 3:00pm in the afternoon, the check in staff was good, knowledgeable and polite. We were given the newly renovated floor, non-smoking. The outside of the hotel does not look too good but inside is fine.

The room is spacious, clean, the back wall of the bed has some flower painting. It has a big flat TV, a lounge chair, safe, bed side control lighting, electric kettle, bathroom amenities, so basically has all you need. The carpet seems clean, as they are new. Bathroom is clean, but the flush is not working too good in my room. But the quilt and the bed sheet is not as comfortable as I am expected.

The hotel lobby is not very big, there are lots of shops owned by the hotel owner, manly jewelry shops. There are two guards dressed in Buckingham Palace guard uniform standing in the front door. Quite a few restaurants, Japanese, a buffet restaruant offering breakfast, lunch, early dinner, dinner and late dinner. There are a few floors of casino, sauna, spa, night club. So basically all you need to enjoy in a hotel.

I would not find it strange to see some shirt-skirt girls wandering around in the hotel as it is Macau. You see them in almost every Macau hotel.

I tried the buffet restaurant on 9/F. The food has much variety and price is reasonable. I wanted to try the Japanese restaurant but it is fully booked. I also tried the Thai spa, it is genuine Thai people who are actaully doing the massage. Afternoon tea at the hotel looby is good, staff is polite and friendly, but a bit busy as a lot of customers in the lobby, making it quite noisy.

It has free shutte to the airport, to the Hong Kong - Macau ferry, and to the China border. It is also in walking distance to most attractions and good restaurants

So in summary, it is a good hotel.

Room Tip: Get the newly renovated room

Ok
They let people smoke in the lobby and in the elevators.
They let chicks with really short skirts walk around freely in the common areas (they seemed to be working BTW).
Their decoration is cheesy (ok, this is subjective, but glass floors with gold bars under it, damm)
They hire two English men to stand in front of the hotel beside a golden carriage with uniforms that resemble the Royal Guard in London....LOL
I guess this is the reason I didnt like this hotel.

We had an overnight in Macau during a trip to Hong Kong - booked a special package online including upgrade to Superior room, breakfast, fruit basket and newspaper plus late checkout. The lobby is all gold and over the top glamour - very Macau! We arrived early but had to wait until 2pm to check in - they kept our bags and we went for a wander before coming back. The room on L16 was fine, but as they were renovating L17 and 18, we could hear jack hammers and drills right over our heads (and this was due to go from 11am to 7pm). We went straight back down and asked for another room - we were advised that many other guests had complained on this floor and they would move us to an Executive room on L20. This room was very contemporary in furnishing and comfortable with a large shower and bath. However, the original room should not have been offered to anyone!

The breakfast was delicious with a wide range of Western and Chinese food. We took advantage of the free shuttle buses to and from the ferry terminal (but pick up a ticket before you leave the hotel - we had to go back as the concierge did not give us one...).

The hotel lobby has real gold bars in the floor and we enjoyed our stay - just don't expect excellent service (but they are willing enough).

Room Tip: Don't stay on L16 for the time being!

We stayed for one night and two days, would liked to have stayed longer. The staff at the hotel we very helpful, the only problem is the language barrier(their english limited and our chinese was nil) Would try to learn a few words next time we go.We. would definitely stay at the grand again,Shuttle bus took us from the ferry to the hotel free, and the same when we left. The restuarant was very well presented with a large array of all types of cuisine. My best tip is to go in holiday frame of mind and determined to have a great time.
Stay at the grand Emperor you won''t regret it.Thanks Grand!!!!!!
