“A great place to wander”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 20, 2012

Walking around this area is a fascinating experience. Start at the Leal Senado, which you can enter, and then cross the road into the square anld explore the little market areas and old lanes. Lovely!

“Am I in Portugal?”

Nice surrounds and grand buildings. This place is very crowded though, so try to attend either early, late or on a week day. Great for taking a few photos and having a coffee.

“Grand buildings”

So beautiful and such lovely old buildings. Look spectacular at night all lit up. Loved the influence of past architecture

“Meeting of Cultures”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2012

The place really mirrored the meeting of the Portuguese and Chinese culture. The buildings were similar to those in Europe but most of the stores sell local goods.

“Main street attractions”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2012

Bored of casinos? Visit Senado square for a change! You get to see the Ruins of St. Paul on the top of the hill and a variety of stores for your shopping needs. They have souvenir shops (if you have been to Macau then you know it's all-you-can-taste if you aren't shy), street snacks, clothing stores and a handful of basic necessity shops (you can get beauty care here).

It does get crowded by both locals and visitors alike at most hours. You will notice that the tiling on the ground, the surrounding buildings and decorations have a strong Portugal influence to it. The most recommended visit point would be the Loyal Senate building (Leal Senado), the General Post Office, and St. Dominic's Church. As this place goes, the busier the better!
