“Great Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2013

Brilliantly located but unfortunately our taxi driver couldn't find it at first! Easy access to all sights and casinos. Only problem was the renovation works but I was high enough not to hear them at night. Didn't like that a lot of the residents seemed to disregard the no smoking signs. Had a bunk bed put in a double room for three of us, was comfortable enough. Easy check in and out. Would reccomend.

Room Tip: Try to get a room up as high as possible and on a non smoking floor otherwise rooms will stink!

Spent a few days at this stunning hotel in 2012, can not fault anything! It's very central to all the big casinos and hotels, restaurants are great, food delicious, customer service was great. Language barrier was hard but they make the effort to try and understand you and provide what you need. Rooms are smallish but very comfortable. Thoroughly recommend it!

Room Tip: Take the bus and head to the Panda Park on the southern island,

I haven’t noticed or read in any of the reviews the basic understanding of how the city Macau is designed.

You have the old city or the city center where you have the establishments such as the MGM, Wynn Casino, Lisboa or Grand Lisboa and a few more premium hotels.

Then across the sea is the other side of Macau which is the Cotai strip which houses the famous Venetian hotel and the others around it.

My 4 days trip to Macau- I decided to stay for the first 2 days at Emperor Hotel and the reason being is I wanted to visit the Casino hotels around this property and whilst doing so be budget conscious.

As soon as u arrive at the ferry terminal head across to the shuttle bus zone and search for the bus heading to The Emperor hotel (Please coordinate with the reception in advance for the timings of the shuttle service)

If u happen to miss it, then do what I did, that is sat on to a shuttle ride of The Lisboa Hotel and then walked from there to Emperor.

Hotel is in a lane so there isn’t much of a view of the city other than starring right in to the face of another building. The reception is busy at times but the people there are courteous at best.

About the rooms- they are clean and simply laid out. I guess for the price its good. Mind you there is no casino in this hotel, however there is a Sauna which is not owned by the hotel.

Did not have the breakfast here so can't comment on that.

Would I stay here again? Yes I would (for the price I paid)

Room Tip: Select a Non-Smoking Room, this way u should get an odor free room

This hotel is near the casinos like star world, Wynn and MGM. It is also not too far off Senado square and St Paul Ruins. The hotel provides a free shuttle to the ferry terminals. There are lots of eateries near the hotel. You can take the free shuttle to Star World and then cross the road to the hotel.

Room Tip: Take the top floors so you can have a good view.

The hotel was part of a tour package with the airline that I took.

I had 2 complaints about the room: it smelled liked cigarettes and there were stains on the carpet. We were probably on the smoking floor hence the smell but thankfully it was only during the first night. The stains I can tolerate since we didn't stay much inside the room anyway & you can always wear slippers. On the plus side, the bed was comfy and the bathroom was impeccably clean. I just didn't understand why it had to have a see through wall--for couples I guess, but to me it seemed a bit sleazy.

There was a small souvenir shop at the hotel lobby which came in pretty handy for last minute take home gifts. I also enjoyed their breakfast buffet because aside from bread and jam, cereals with milk or bacon & eggs, they also offered dimsum, chinese noodles & steamed buns!

The surrounding neighborhood was pleasant and clean. With it's narrow streets and tiny shops with huge lighted signs, you'll find everything and anything from gadgets, fruits, clothing, jewelry, money changers, Chinese food & medicine and a couple of 7-Elevens around every corner. It's not in the casino area but if you don't mind walking, it'll only take about 15-20mins easy walk to reach The Grand Lisboa Casino or The Wynn Hotel & Casino. Walking is not an option if you want to go to Sands Hotel & Casino though. You need to ride a taxi outside the hotel if you want to get there. The Venetian on the other hand is on a different island and to get there you can take a cab to Sands and then hop on one of the free blue buses headed for The Venetian--you won't miss it as they're all properly labeled. There's always an empty bus arriving every few minutes or so and there's also a similar terminal at The Venetian which will take you back to Sands.

I'm not a fussy traveler so I wouldn't mind staying here again.

Location is quite excellent, literally opposite side of alley from Landmark hotel, one street away from Starworld.
Internet in hotel is crappy at best, works very poorly if at all.

Room was ok (19th, executive floor), not too big but for price I paid (80eur per night through 3rd party; tag in room stated price as 4900MOP per night, which would be extremely poor value) considering location quite ok value. Definitely has seen it's best days, and carpet in room was quite dirty and would need replacement. There seemed to be some problems in water heating also, shower temperature changed from normal to cold to normal to hot to normal during a quick shower.

Pretty much anyone there didn't speak English, not a biggie for me; someone else could find it as big minus. Hotel was marked as 5 star in 3rd party website, but lists itself as 3-star, which it definitely is. Breakfast was pretty standard, and due to language barriers some funny issues occured - for my benefit :)

If you book this through this hotel through a travel agent or a 3rd party online website, you might end up with something you don't expect.

My stay (12/29/12 - 1/2/13) was for a New Year celebration trip. When I arrived at the hotel and informed them of my booking (through a 3rd party website), the hotel informed me that my room was going to be "extremely noisy" due to the hotel's current construction. And because of the company I booked through, there was no way to change it to another room with less noise. All I wanted was a peaceful 4-night stay in Macau, so I paid a little extra ("reasonable" amount) to upgrade the room. As it turned out the room I upgraded to, which was on the executive 19th floor, still had problems- we had no heater through out my 4 night stay.

Although I paid through a 3rd party company during the peak time of the year, the amount was surely no chump change. Emperor hotel treated my booking as if it weren't their business because it was through an affiliate. But I just want to ask the management this - "At the end of the day, am I not staying at YOUR hotel as YOUR guest?" Honestly I wouldn't stay here again and do not recommend this hotel to others.

p1ay

P.S. I do want to mention that besides the problems mentioned above, most hotel staffs are courteous and the concierge was very helpful in guiding me tour the city. No gym.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is far far away from the construction.
