“Very convenient; excellent value for money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 18, 2008

I selected this hotel from Trip Advisor. I was not disappointed.
I stayed for 2 nights, mid week, early September 2008.
It is an older hotel, but very well positioned in a quiet part of old Macau. It is conveniently located to all attractions. It is only a few minutes walk to Casino Lisboa and several other nearby casinos and about a 10 minute walk to Senado square.
The hotel room was large and well appointed, although the bar fridge did not work. The linen in the bathroom was excellent.
The beds were nice and firm.
The room had good quality block-out curtains which are essential at night, because of all the light coming from nearby buildings.
The staff were courteous & efficient and the hotel even had attendants on the front doors.
I would certainly recommend this hotel for those wanting a hotel without a casino attached.

Sintra hotel is definitely one of the best hotel I've ever stayed considering its low rates. It's also in a perfect location just in front of the Grand Lisboa casino and Jacky Chan's Grand emperor casino. The buffet breakfast is above average. All in all in was very good hotel and If I will go back to Macau, Sintra Hotel is my choice again!!!

The Sintra Hotel was ideally located, being only 5 minutes walk from major casinos such as the Grand Lisboa, Wynn, MGM Grand etc.

The hotel provides free shuttle bus from morning till 10 p.m. daily at 15 minutes interval. It goes to the Lisboa Casino, ferry terminal and New Yaohan shopping centre.

The hotel had 14 storeys if I remembered correctly. Our grand deluxe room was situated on the 6th floor. The room was clean and had amenities such as cable television, a safe, hot water dispenser, mini bar and bath tub. The view was that of the neighbouring Emperor Hotel's giant LED screen! We pulled the curtains over to blind out the disturbing flickering lights from the LED screen which may disturb our sleep.

All the bellboys and reception staff can speak English.

On the last night of our stay, my father's spectacles' screw came off. We needed a screwdriver to fix it. Even a knife will do, as we can use the pointed end of the knife to put the screw back in.

As it was late at night and the shops were already closed, I went down to the hotel lobby and asked the bellboy if they have any screwdrivers or knife. He was uninterested in our predicament and asked me to ask for help from the reception instead.

The reception staff as equally unhelpful, replying "no, can't help you" and went about to their own work. I had to go to the hotel restaurant and asked if I can borrow a knife and use it there and then. To my surprise, the staffs refused to lend me one and went back to wiping the dishes. This despite the restaurant was not busy at that time.

Here was a chance for the Sintra Hotel staff to show their willingness to provide good service to their guests, and they have failed to impress. Their nonchalant ways and their couldn't-care-less attitude was atrocious.

  • Liked — Very good location. Only 5 minutes walk to the major casinos. 10 minutes walk to Largo Senado and other historical places of interest

We stayed 3 nights in this hotel last week. It is an average 3 star hotel. It could be 4 star if it had a swimming pool. The best thing about the Sintra is its close proximity to the Senado Square, St Pauls ruins, Grand Lisboa Casino and Wynn Casino. All within 10 minutes walk.

The rooms are clean although somewhat old, and beds are firm. One negative point is that it does not provide a free shuttle to the Barrier Gate, a service which is offerred by many of the Casino Hotels.

Stayed one night here and was pleased with the quality and size of the room for the price I paid (about AU$83). There was also a HK$500 deposit required when I checked in to cover any potential additional charges. This was refunded on check out.

The free bus to the ferry was frequent enough for me and only took about 10 minutes (off peak).

As I was only here one night I didn't use many hotel facilities so can't comment on them. The reception staff were efficient and helpful but not friendly (seems almost standard for this class of hotel in this region).

If you are looking for a fancy casino hotel then this isn't for you but if you are looking for a good quality 3 star hotel close to the action (5 minutes walk to The Lisboa Hotel and The Grand Lisboa) at a good price then I recommend you consider this hotel.

This is a late review.

Stay for 1 night last sept (2007) with my family. Booked a corner suite. Well it looked as it should have been as per the website gallery, but the furnishing does need some changing. They looked aged and perhaps dirty.

No breakfast and frontdesk was ok but i find it kind of "cold" towards guest.

Location is good. 10-15 mins walk to the places of interest and local shops and cafes. Well this is macau and no problem getting to many casinos!

There is a periodical shuttle bus between port and hotel. Overall just ok if stay for 1 night or 2. Price is a bit steep for such class of facilities. Unlikely to return again.

I stayed for two nights in a deluxe room. Room was clean, comfortable and quiet. View out of the window was a big TV screen on the wall of the hotel opposite but there was no noise and the curtains were blackout curtains so the image did not keep me awake.

Breakfast was a buffet and fairly standard for Asia (mix of Asian and western food), but a decent choice and the bread was lovely (which is unusual for Asia in my experience!).

There's not much to do in this hotel apart from sleep as there's no bar or pool. If you're looking for a room for the night then it is a good choice. If you're after more of a resort type hotel then I wouldn't advise the Sintra.
