Hotel Ritz Macau, now renamed, Hotel Riviera Macau is in a wonderful location in a quiet, safe neighborhood. Just down the street from the Chinese consulate, so there are cameras and guards on the nearby street corners. Macau is not a big place and u can walk most places of interest easily. Rooms were clean but dated, views only from street side. Breakfast buffet was good with fairly wide ranging selection. English is not the staffs first language so be aware. Would recommend for those not wanting to stay downtown.

We stayed at this hotel, now called the Riviera, for several nights and enjoyed our stay. Whether or not it's well-located depends on your interests. For the historic areas of Macau it's ideal, with the 20 minute walk to the town centre taking in many of the top sights on the way (or you can just go up the main road for convenience). However, it is not so handy for the casinos as they are on the far side of the city, although there is a free shuttle bus that goes over there every 30 minutes. The top of Penha Hill is just a few minutes walk from the hotel and has great views of the tower and new bridge - especially dramatic at night. We tried one of the two restaurants in the hotel and it was perfectly decent, but there are 3 really great places at the bottom of the hill, just a couple of minutes walk away, including Henri's Galley (which has fabulous African Chicken), Tabuchi (Japanese) and a 'Curry House' (which seeemed to have mostly Chinese food, and was heaving every time we walked past).

The hotel was clean and well maintained, and I found the staff professional and helpful, with most of the desk staff speaking good English. It's a good mid-range choice for a peaceful stay in Macau.

The rooms are clean and have good standards but there is nothing special about this hotel.

The location is bad for being Macau but as Macau is a small place the hotel is anyway quite close to everything.

I would not recommend anyone to stay here unless you get a good price.

The price during the stay was about HK$ 900 per night.

- The room was so noisy all night that I couldn't sleep (although I turned my AC off, there was some kind of AC noise all night coming from the ceiling)
- Staff was ignorant towards my complaint
=> Don't stay there if you want to sleep.

Otherwise:
Rooms would have been okay (e.g. size, bed), though quite dark and TV quality was low.

i will not come back here because of the staff who are rude and they even tried to take our $200 deposit. eventhough, i like the location of this hotel coz its quiet here and their shuttle bus helped us to go around macau area. i just don't like the attitude the staff here, they seem to be so unprofessional and poorly trained, including their bus drivers who yell at customers. all of the drivers can't speak english and they are unfriendly.

this hotel is not for guests who can't speak chinese.
food at amigo restaurant is not good and not worth it. if you wanna dine here better choose the chinese restaurant not amigo.

overall, this hotel is not 5 star, the amenities and service is not 5 star.. this is only 3 star.

Room Tip: take their shuttle bus and just be patient with the unprofessional bus drivers. for restaurants, th...

It's on the hill, not in city center, but Macau is just a small city, plus the hotel also provides free shuttle bus to the city and ferry terminal that runs every 30 minutes. It has a good view to the lake, to the famous Macau-Taipa Bridge, and Macau Tower. Don't take the hill view room as there is no such hill view except the rock cliff.
The room is clean and spacious. For group of friends, this is very suitable as it has an open spacious deck on the hotel roof with a good view and chairs!

Room Tip: Don't take the hill view room as there is no such hill view except the rock cliff.

This hotel is clearly past its best days. The King size bed which I had requested was in the smoking section only and the room had a bad smell. The view from the room was a concrete wall. The room was very spacious but all things looked old. Not even a bottle of complimentary water in the room.

The hotel is at a slight distance from the city centre and though there is a free shuttle from the hotel, the half an hour frequency was not convenient (from 9 AM to 10 PM). Compared to many other hotels which offered so many shuttles, this was a let down.

The hotel staff is decent & helpful.
