“Panoramic view of Macau”
Reviewed February 6, 2013

Overview
The Sky 21 bar restaurant offers indoor, outdoor dining and drinking areas where you can get a 360 view of Macau's skyline. If you are staying at the Cotai Strip, then this place is worth visiting because the night view is mesmerizing. For those who stay in the Wynn's, Mandarin oriental or New Lisboa hotel, most likely you will get this view too.

Location
The bar is located at the AIA tower on the main island of Macau. To get to this place, it is simply a 5-10 minute walk away from the hotel lisboa / grand lisboa. I am saying this because the location was not clear on the tourist map that I took from the tourist information centre. So if you want to get here, simply get to hotel lisboa and ask your way there.

Why Sky 21?
Most likely one would venture to this bar to wind down on a busy day traveling, working or shopping in Macau. The outdoor dining area allows you a breath taking view of macau. The food selection is wide. You get western and Asian as well. We went because we stayed at the Cotai strip and this place is the best venue for us to get a good view of the skyline of Macau.

Food and drinks
We orderd a Wagyu steak at 200 MOP (28USD) with pepper sauce. When the dish arrived, we felt the chef has over sprinkled the steak with too much pepper. We ordered 2 long island and a gin and tonic and the bill came to 630 MOP (81 USD) which is not cheap compared to the other bars or hotel lounges that we went to.). The meat was tender and succulent but the pepper topped over the taste of the Wagyu.

Vibe
Other than the view, there is a live band inside singing an array of classic chinese and English songs. The live band starts around 11pm.

Service
The service is acceptable, although they are willing to serve you, you find that most of the time, the waitors and waitresses are chatting with themselves and joking about. Having said that, when you do have a problem, they will not hesitate to give you a hand. I lost my lighter and when I wanted to borrow one, the waiter gave me one and told me to keep it. Quite a nice gesture.

Verdict
Although this restaurant is ranked 100th or so on this site, the waiters here tell me that it is on the top 3 of another magazine. For travelers, come here for the view, and wind down a night with your loved ones and enjoy a bit of live music. The price is hotel hefty so order sensibly. If this doesn't satisfy you, there is always clubbing on the other floors of the AIA tower.

“Nice roof top bar...trendy place”
Reviewed August 10, 2012

Nicely designed bar and restaurant. The bar has roof top out door view which allows you to look at the city in the evening. The bar snacks are great and they are slightly expensive but not over the top. Great for after work or weekends with friends and your partner.

“Probably the most "Western style" sophisticated venue in Macau”
Reviewed July 13, 2012

This is a review of the complex not the restaurant. See the sky21 website to see for what is offered in the SKY21 complex.

On the basis that SKY21 has a fantastic vista, and most importantly is gambling; and probably sex trade free; it is in my view the most sophisticated entertainment complex in Macau (I live in Macau).

Prices are Hong Kong levels..... but by Macau standards exhorbitant. (The club - D2 - in the same building is an International bargain, if you are into good class "clubbing". But it only comes to life at 3 am in the morning!!!)

The bar/club area is not conducive to dancing other than around your table.

Bar food is mostly deep fried other than a pretty average pizza.

But overall thoroughly recommended for view and sophistication.

The bar has the best view over Lakes Nam Van and Sai Van in Macau, very cozy for a drink with friends.
