Obviously the price was a bit on the high side but definitely balanced with decor, ambiance, food quality and service. The waiter serving our table was so attentive that he prepared me a cup of hot lemon with honey after noticing my throat problem. The foods were all above average. The tasting menu was a good deal too. Absolutely worth a try.

you can't denied that they had big budget for this outlet but unfortunately money doesn't make it all... it doesn't grant you a fine dining status you need to deserve it ....
Few design touch, too much "Bling Bling " and a live music way too loud give you the feeling to be in one of these want to be fine dining establishment in main land China.
I will not contest the fact that they are using prime quality product for the food but the preparation of it is not there at all and downgrade the experience..... lack of flavors, beef over cooked with no seasoning ( perhaps to promote the salt trolley), vegetable over down
Staff was pleasant and attentive enough but once again far from a fine dining experience you would expect they still need training ( the restaurant only had few tables )
The wine by the glass were oxidized as most probably they were opened for too long

I certainly would have been of better comment if I didn't see the bill.....the place is far over priced

Belon is really top notch. The food was superb....we were really blown away. The staff and service were perfect, they really went out of their way to deliver a memorable meal. The salt trolley, mustard selection......everything was unique. Nice ambience with classy live music. This is definitely one of the best restaurants in Macau if not all of Asia. Go now while you can still get a table!

Belon is the newly opened restaurant inside Banyan Tree Hotel and its fine dine option. I visited with my parter and had an appetizer, main and dessert full 3 courses each one evening. We first walked down a blue flight of stairs which led us into a very New York style bistro with interesting sea decor and high ceiling. They provided a welcome champagne which was a nice touch. The Amuse Bouche was amazing, starters not bad, main courses ok (too salty to my liking) and deeserts average. The food didn't leave much impression to be honest but the service did. The staff were friendly and trying however the organisation and knowledge was lacking... they tried to make a lobster bisque in front of us to "impress" but the original chef got "borrowed away" half way, then another person came, and left, and then another person came (aparently they were under staffed)...and the final person whom cooked it also left the station a couple of times helping with other tables.... come on! If you are not staffed enough to do it then don't offer! We found that quite funny in a bad way...

There are other better fine dining restaurants around like Horizon, Aurora, Don Alfonso etc...not in a rush to be back at all.

We stayed at the Banyan Tree Macau so decided to try their "signature" restaurant. Belon is located on the 31st floor of the Banyan Tree and are closed on Tuesdays.
We booked only on the day we arrived and got the table next to the bar section of the restaurant which was next to the band playing. The music was way too loud and we didn't expect this from a place that has aspirations to be the a fine dining establishment. However, since we only booked on the day we are going we didn't expect to get a good table. The food was decent and not as expensive as i thought it would be. Shame they didn't have the Belon oysters that the restaurant is named after but the Jersey oysters was nice.
Service is a bit gimmicky with the push trolley with the different types of salts shaved onto your butter etc, staff was pleasant enough but need some training to get them to scratch. Our main courses arrived at different times and the lid on my wife's dish was taken off and she was told to start first?!?!?! not quite polished enough but over time will get better, i would assume.
in conclusion it decent but not quite there yet on the service and the atmosphere of a fine dining establishment to be on par with say Don Alfonso's.
