good down to earth Macanese food, better prefered by the locals compared to the more famous names which is more patronized by out of towners and tourists.

The shellfish, Portuguese sausage and their signature dessert

This little place tucked away in old Taipa village has a very friendly manager recently arrived from Portugal. The menu is extensive, mostly fish. The caldo verte (vegetable soup) is exceptional. Critical to book for dinner. Closed on Monday.

We really enjoyed our dinner here. Service was good, food was delicious. We had the paella and grilled chicken. Both were great.

Our nehew and niece and great nephew took us to Macau last week while we were touring in Hong Kong. We had read about the A Petisqueira in the Michellin Guide, a one black fork, and it sounded right up our alley. Although the taxi had some difficulty finding this small restaurant off of a busy side street--it is well worth the hunt. This neighborhood restaurant is a real gem of a find. And walking around that neighborhood was another gem.
We were there for lunch. They closed at 2:30. My husband ordered the Kingfish --which he liked very much. Our niece ordered a vegetarian dish, which she pronouced great. Our nephew ordered the boar's steak--this was a special on the menu that day. He liked it, but it wasn't to my taste. I ordered the sea bass. I've had sea bass in many places, BUT this sea bass was OUTSTANDING!!!
We would highly recommend this restaurant.
The only thing we are sorry about is that we didn't have room for desert.

Another decent place for Macau food, last order for lunch is 2.45pm. The clams and seafood rice was nice, the pork is worth a try as well. It can be a little tricky trying to get a taxi nearby unless you walk to the busy shopping street beside the restaurant.
