On our son’s advice we went to A Petisqueira, an authentic Portuguese tavern. Nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. For dinner we did choose the homemade cheese, paella, baked Portuguese rice, and as dessert pineapple in port and espresso. Great food! We had some excellent Portuguese wines as well (Duas Quintas and Altano). We enjoyed our dinner so much that we returned the next day for lunch: the weather was cold so we ordered chickpeas soup and tapas! A restaurant to recommend.

when you have a bad day and you need a good food, this place will be the right choice.
This place is located near the old Taipa village. It is not a fancy place, more like casual bistro, for evening dinner or lunch with friends...very relaxed atmosphere... humble deco. You dont have to worry of dress codes. This place tends to be quite busy, so it is recommended to make a reservation before you come.
I have been coming to this restaurant several times and always find it pleasant experience...
Joao, the manager is very friendly and cheerful, cheering you up.... and the food is constantly good..
my fav food there: the grilled chicken &.the grilled fish ! yummmm!

I visited A Petisqueira on a hot Tuesday afternoon at 1 and was refused at the door as their kitchen closed at 2. On Wednesday afternoon I went back, this time at 12:30. We enjoyed the delicious hot bread and 'tapas' plate of meats and cheeses. The lamb we ordered was severely undercooked (basically raw) and water service was lacking at very best. The bacalhau was unimpressive and did not taste very fresh. Overall we found it to be overpriced for quality but not bad enough to avoid.

We have been last weekend with a group of friends and it is really cozy and family style restaurant. Great food! "Secretos Ibericos" is a must. The clamps are special. "Serradura" as dessert. Good quality, good quantity and fair price.
