“Wonderful non-Casino hotel in the centre of everything...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2013

We visited here for a weekend in mid-March 2013. The property is fabulous as one expects from MO hotel group. Small hotel feeling but great views of Macau Bay and City. Directly connected to the One Central Luxury Mall and two minutes walk to shopping and restaurants. The Mall is connected to MGM Grand and Wynn Casino's. You're only ten minutes walk to downtown and Grand Lisboa Casino and about half hour walk to the St. Paul UNESCO site. We had breakfast in the MO restaurant daily and what a fabulous buffet. We spa'd and enjoyed the fitness facility. I would say the best non-Casino location in the City...

Prices a little expensive, but half of HK MO hotels and you really do get what you pay for...

Room Tip: Ask for Corner Deluxe or Suites...views of Macau Bay/Harbour...

We chose our hotel in Macau carefully, as the purpose of our visit was to explore the old town rather than to gamble. As a result, the lack of a casino was a factor in our choice of the Mandarin Oriental.

The exceptional service began the minute we stepped off the hydrofoil, having arrived directly from HongKong International terminal. A friendly greeting, assistance with our luggage and swift transfer to the hotel was a terrific start to our stay and set the tone of the Mandarin Oriental from that point onwards. We were greeted by name at every encounter with a member of staff and could not fault a single one of them. Each one went out of their way to make our stay memorable for the right reasons and we appreciated their professionalism and dedication to their job. The concierge in particular offered excellent advice which proved to be spot on for our needs.

Our room was lovely. Peaceful and well equipped, the unusual design with a large bathroom area suited us very well indeed. I could have stayed for a month!

Truly exceptional.

This 5-star hotel unlike most hotels in Macau does not have a casino. It does not have gamblers smoking away profusely in every corner! If you want to try your luck at the casino table, MGM casino halls are just a short walk away accessible through a connecting door on the second floor bar lounge. It is very convenient for hotel guests. One additional service worth mentioning is the ferry terminal transfer. Hotel guests do not have to share large tour bus or coach mainly cater for gamblers. We were met at the ferry terminal by a six-seater limo instead. The service is very good with very friendly and helpful service staff be fitting of the MO service quality they are famous for! A quiet family hotel and conveniently located but away from the ever busy casino crowd of Macau!

Room Tip: Avoid corner room immediate adjacent to the service apartment of One Central, Macau. It is too close...

From the moment one makes a booking at the Mandarin Oriental, they start feeling that they are really special - besides small touches like thank you and welcoming emails - there is nothing they don't do to make you feel welcome. The online booking process was extremely smooth with cancellation allowed upto the last moment (almost).
I sent them an email for pick up and it was quickly confirmed and very well arranged - it always feels nice to come out to arrivals and see your name being held up by a well-dressed bell boy. A MPV was arranged and we were smoothly transferred to the hotel. Also a drop-off was arranged - both complimentary services.
The room, the view and the bed were fantastic - it was really being in the lap of luxury. Quality and attention to every detail was evident in even the smallest gestures. The breakfast ad Vida Rica was great and once again their staff really make the difference - I mentioned my name once during check-in and it seemed like all the staff member memorised it instantly. Very cool !!

P.S. - Their bath and shower !!! WOW !!!!!

There were 2 small issues that I would like to point out - our checkin was delayed almost an hour because there were some "technical issues" with our room and secondly they make you pay for internet - it's a luxury hotel and internet is charged at quite a steep rate (not good M.O. !)

Room Tip: High Floor - Sea view

My partner and I stayed at the Mandarin Oriental Macau for one night while celebrating our engagement.

As soon as I booked the hotel I knew I was onto a good thing. The email correspondence I had with the staff were prompt and effective. No sooner had I requested a reservation at the Robuchon au Dome, an email was sent to me confirming our booking for 7:30pm on the night of our stay. When I let them know the purpose of our visit, they quickly congratulated us and offered welcoming amenities for when we arrived. We were very impressed by their courtesy and promptness.

After a bit of a mishap while travelling to Macau from Taiwan via Hong Kong, we arrived at the hotel at 7:10pm. Upon arrival, we were upgraded to a Waterfront suite. We were very surprised and grateful. Check-in was fast, so we quickly unpacked and changed. We were offered a car to get to the Grand Lisboa as we were going to be late for dinner. The service was outstanding.

After we arrived back from dinner, we found chocolates in the living room, which was a nice touch from the hotel. Our room was big with a great view of the water and the Macau-Taipa bridge. The bed was very comfortable and the decor was very modern.

We had breakfast at the Vida Rica restaurant, which provided the usual eggs, dim sums and cereals. Before checking out, we checked out the pool but didn't use it as it was very cold that day. Check-out was fuss free and we were soon on our way back to Hong Kong.

The Mandarin Oriental is a great hotel connected to One Central so shoppers will enjoy staying there. It is also within walking distance to MGM, Wynn and Lisboa. It is also quiet because it is not connected to a casino. We stayed at the Grand Hyatt last time but this one definitely tops it in terms of service and value.

My only regret was that we didn't stay longer at the Mandarin Oriental. We will definitely stay here when we visit Macau again.

first time staying at Mandarin Oriental Hotel. We had experienced excellent service by Ms Pewee Magaling, the guest relations supervisor. We enjoyed personalised service from check-in, showing us the room, explaining the 'features' of the room, check-out and showing us to the taxi etc. We had not felt so 'at home' for the numerous trips we had for a long time.

So much for the service, now the room. The room is extremely comfortable. The temperature is just right for the cold winter night. Bathrooom is well equipped and cleverly designed.

Will definitely return.

Room Tip: room facing the sea has excellent view.

You get a decent quality. Nothing exceptional but a decent place to stay.

Rooms are okay: reasonable size, comfortable, clean, good views over the lake. Room decoration is something you will never remember - very neutral, any hotel. A little bit dated.

Service is typically MO: smiles from staff, attention from duty manager when necessary.

Overall a good impression. Vida Rica bar is nice.
