Overall: Excellent, modern, very clean hotel with very large and nice rooms. The hotel is part of the City of Dreams complex (with its own casino) next to the Venetian and other casinos. It has a huge outdoor pool, great spa and very good gym. Overall, we spent three nights and were absolutely satisfied. When we were there (during the week) it was not very busy. In detail:
Rooms: All the room’s interiors are new and modern (see picture #001 and #002). Rooms are very clean. We got an upgrade to a suite with separate living and sleeping room. However, also the standard rooms seem to be large as can be seen on the hotel’s website. The room had a large bathroom with tub and large rain shower. Our comments refer to room number 2706, a corner suite in the Grand Tower (one of two towers, the other one being the Grand Club Tower). We had a very nice view on the Venetian hotel (see pictures #003 and #004). On picture #005 you can see the view from the Venetian to the City of Dreams complex with the Crown on the left-hand side, the Hard Rock Hotel in the middle and in-between the Hyatt Grand Tower in the background with the City of Dream Sign on top. The Club Grand Tower sticks out a little bit right behind the Hard Rock Hotel. Since our room (on the far left of the Grand Tower in this picture) sticks out a little due to the shifted rows of rooms, we had a 270 degrees view from our living room, with the airport on the opposite side’s window. No, you don’t hear any noise of it, it’s not busy and windows are soundproof. What else: Beds are great (it’s a Hyatt). Complimentary mineral water in your room (again, it’s a Hyatt). Room is cleaned twice a day. The suite had a Nespresso coffee maker. The Grand Tower rooms facing the casinos seem to have the better views as compared to the Grand Club Tower.
Bathroom: Modern, nice rain shower and separate tub. Overall, a very nice bathroom, new and very clean.
Service: Service everywhere was excellent, especially in the Club Lounge. Special thanks to Ashley and Randy. The same with housekeeping, they also do a great job, no complaints at all on the cleanliness of the rooms. One unusual thing, nobody helped us with our luggage when we arrived, which was okay, since we had only a trolley, but still strange that nobody offered help.
Location: The Grand Hyatt is on Cotai. It is part of the City of Dreams complex. The Venetian is just across the street when you take an exit close to the Hard Rock Hotel. Other casinos (and the Venetian as well) can be reached by free shuttle buses that run frequently. Also the Ferry or Macau town can be reached by free shuttle buses. A taxi, however, is not expensive, too.
Facilities: The pool is huge. It’s a 40 meters outside pool, with plenty space around. There’s also a nice and large gym with new equipment. The Isala Spa has nice treatment rooms, steam bath, Jacuzzi etc. We had massage treatment every day, the therapists were great.
Restaurants and Lounges: We only had dinner once in the restaurant which was very good. On the other days, we spent early evenings at the Grand Club for Drinks and Canapées. The Grand Club is huge! (See picture #006.) The chefs offer a large variety of food for Breakfast and Pre-Dinner food. Breakfast for Club guests is between 6.30 and 11.00 (12.00 on weekends) and evening drinks from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Light refreshments and snacks are offered all days until midnight. The breakfast is great with eggs in all variations, pancakes, waffles, fruits, joghurts and several Chinese dishes. I have never seen such a variety of food at any other lounge I’ve been, even exceeding most breakfast buffets I’ve seen at any hotel. The same with the pre-dinner canapés that include several warm Chinese and Western dishes, e.g. Dim Sum, Burgers etc. They are really good and you easily can skip the dinner.
Other remarks: Internet (wireless) in the rooms is only complimentary for Hyatt Platinum and Diamond members.
Price: Price value ratio is really great at Grand Hyatt Macau, especially compared to prices in nearby Hong Kong. Prices are generally higher at weekends.
Recommandation: Overall, I can highly recommend the Grand Hyatt, especially the Club Lounge.
