“Very Pleasant Sunday Lunch”
Reviewed March 10, 2014 via mobile

Visit to Macau for the Rolling Stones concert and thought that we (5 of us) would drop in to Platao for lunch - a couple of our friends had been here before and recommended that we stop by.
We arrived on spec and were met with a friendly welcome, as there were 5 of us a couple of tables were quickly re-arranged for our group. We then ordered some drinks and set about selecting some food.
For appetisers we ordered shrimp and bacon rolls (shrimp wrapped in bacon, then battered and deep fried), grilled Portuguese sausage and sardines.
All arrived quickly and were served without any fuss, and all were delicious.
For main courses we ordered ox tail stewed in red wine, seafood rice Portuguese, rack of lamb in mustard and herbs, and chicken curry. We also asked for a potion of mixed vegetables, and a portion of steamed rice.
All of the food arrived as it was prepared and all were superb - there wasn't a bad dish amongst any of them and the portions were quite large also.
We managed to polish off all of the food, however although most of us were stuffed, 2 of out group still has room for dessert - they ordered Crepe Suzette and again these were also delicious.
By the time we were ready to leave for the concert, we had all of the food mentioned above, 3 rounds of beers, 8 glasses of Port and a coffee.
When the bill arrived we got another pleasant surprise at how cheap it was.
All in all, a great day with good friends in a nice courtyard setting, great food, great service at a great price - wouldn't hesitate to go back again.

“Do not waste your money eating at the Platao”
Reviewed March 7, 2014

We were a group of three (one was a resident of Macau) and we went on the 02 March 2014. We have had Portuguese food before elsewhere so we knew well that this is generally excellent food. We were seated in the outside area of the restaurant which is pleasant. We ordered food and drinks and the waitress was far from polite. We ordered a beef sandwich, a fish course, and a stuffed aubergine. All three were inedible and hardly fit for animal let alone human consumption. When the table was cleared we asked for the bill. No question from the waitress as to why we left the food there. We were presented the bill by the waitress and its as though she was doing us a favour when she handed the bill to us,and as always looking as grumpy as ever. She was obviously not happy doing her job. So do yourself a favour and just walk past this restaurant and find another eatery.

“Pleasant outdoor seating”
Reviewed December 29, 2013

Located just off the historic Senado square it's not hard to understand how this place can stay in business with mediocre food and high prices. There aren't a whole lot of places to dine nearby except maybe an exceptionally unappetizing looking Mc Donalds. The food was overpriced but the outdoor seating was pleasant on a sunny winter afternoon.

“Bit Pricey...”
Reviewed October 17, 2013

We dine in during dinner, we ordered grilled steak, but its tasteless, a bit pricy & the portion is quite little. Service was so so.... All good was the ambiance. We'll might not come back anymore & try other restaurants in Macao.

Cosy small restaurant with nice ambience. Baked duck rice tasted flat, deep fried crab stick average and baked aubergine so so. Busy during dinner time. Served by some poker-face attendants. Spent HKD 400 for that meal.
