“A beautiful ambience, an excellent meal”

A place away from the hustle and bustle of Macau. A place to enjoy excellent food, finest cutlery, beautiful ambience, good services. I really love the experience.

“could be better”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 23, 2013

As it's a star winning restaurant in South Italy, I expected much when I decided to drop by at lunch.
Nicely decorated with a good atmosphere, good services. Some dishes were excellent such as the tuscan vegetable soup, Goose Liver & Pear Ravioli and the seafood linguini. The Iberian pork chop as well as the Ossobuco wwere a letdown, not as tender as expected. Bakery not to be compared with Robuchon on 39/F.
Though it's not perfect, I still found the dining experience pleasant and enjoyable. The wide range of petit fours selection set at a buffet table was delightful to the eyes as well as to my sweet tooth.
Not yet Michelin Starred, it is still a hidden gem and you may get a table without reservation. Worth trying if you do not expect too much as I did.

“Unique Experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 20, 2013

The decor is magnificent and the attention of Salavatore, the restaurant manager is excellent. Waitresses could smile more. Menu is a bit limited and also some dishes contain alcohol which limits choice if you cannot have alcohol. The private room can send out too much noise. This is a special experience for the decor and the quality of the food rather than the size of portions. It is fine dining. The wine list has thousands of choices which is done by iPad - the wine takes a while to arrive from the cellar which must be in hidden vaults somewhere but worth waiting for e.g. 1999 Napa cabernet by the glass and there are half bottles.

“Elegant restaurant”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 2, 2013

Don Alfonso is an elegant restaurant, The decor is classical European with chandeliers, the tables are nicely spaced.
The wine list is huge, unless you really know what you want, you will want to rely on sommelier to help you out.
We ordered a la carte, all the dishes were very nice in presentation and the taste was defined and genuine, the pasta was perfectly executed, also the deserts were good
The service was professional and friendly.
Nothing to complain about the food and service, but it is not to be compared to the well known Don Alfonso In Italy.
