We stayed at The Marina Suites the same time last year and had great weather and a great view. The weather was more mixed this time and if you are looking for a room with a view this hotel won't give you that. However, it is a very good four star hotel and the staff try very hard to do their best for you. We asked to change rooms as the room was facing a cliff and seemed quite dark. Reception obliged and we were moved to a room overlooking the adult pool so better. We made good use of the gym which had all the basic equipment and really enjoyed the buffet breakfasts. There was no hot water at all the first evening we were there and the guy at reception did not seem overly concerned when we asked when we might expect to get a hot shower. The daily cleaning of our room was hit and miss and twice out of the three full days we were there we had to call reception mid afternoon for it to be cleaned. That said the pools, gardens etc were lovely and we would think about going back next year. Loved Mogan, much better than Puerto Rico, and had four really good evening meals. We would recommend N Enoteca for great pasta (very small, need to book), Caravaggio was another quality Italian restaurant and for a great atmosphere and good food (we both had delicious pizzas), go to The Irish Bar.

Having read the reviews before we went we had an open mind. On arrival we were offered room 1301. ( A room described by the rep as a 'Britsroom' )This was the darkest room in the whole complex, built more or less in to the cliff. The room felt damp and the garden was covered in green moss as it never had the opportunity to see light. We politely requested a change of room and were put on to a waiting list to move. Thankfully we moved within the first day to the room next to the canary cage. If you've been there you will know where we were. Mixed blessings.
The gardens are everything that everyone has described. Absolutely exquisite! Every single centimetre is tended and loved and beautiful!
The food is of a VERY high standard for buffet food. However the dining experience at rush hour feels like you are eating on a peopled super highway. Go early, even if it means setting an alarm and you will have a different experience.
The drinks service after dinner in the upstairs bar is extremely slow. We waited for 50 minutes one night then gave up and walked in to town.
The hotel sits in the bottom of a very high sided valley and so there is a wait for the sun and it disappears quickly at the end of the day. If you are used to open views and the smell of the sea this is not the hotel for you.
There is significant development and fairly constant movement of lorries up the side of the valley close to the hotel.
The staff work extremely hard and are put under extreme pressure in the dining room.
The port is wonderful and provided lots of good bars and boat trips .
We were influenced by all the 5 star reviews but there were elements of this hotel which need attention. Glad they asked for our views at the end of the week. We hope our comments were helpful.

Room Tip: We requested a high quiet room and this was ignored. Try requesting a room with a pool view but check before you travel that they are going to genuinely try for this.

We spent a week at Cordial Mogan Playa at the end of January for some much needed sunshine and relaxation and we got just what we wanted. If you're not familiar with this "hotel" it is best to explain that it is more like a self contained resort with separate blocks for bedrooms, suites, apartments, restaurants, bars etc. All of it is spotlessly clean and connected by beautiful gardens. Without exception the staff were cheerful, helpful and professional. We had a problem with our original room (very dark with 2 palm tress virtually growing through the balcony) but were moved a few doors along without fuss.
Why only 4 stars? Whilst the buffet restaurant had an excellent selection of good quality food, it is still a buffet and has all of the drawbacks that that entails. An a la carte option without going all of the way to the on site "fine dining" restaurant would have been appreciated? We transferred our "meal allowance" to lunch on a couple of days (with no problems) and went out to the marina for dinner. As a final personal niggle, the wine selection was very limited especially if you don't like rioja!

Room Tip: Higher rooms (3rd floor or higher) will generally be brighter and have open balconies.

We were unlucky with a week of unseasonably cool weather but the Hotel offered a 'home-from-home' retreat. The room heating was fully functional (not always the case in warm climate resorts!) and the sheltered balcony was an asset when the sun did shine. Our room plan was Bed & Breakfast and we enjoyed what was probably the best buffet breakfast in the Tamaragua restaurant that we have had anywhere in the world.

The Hotel boasts a wide range of activities which, sadly due to health constraints, we were not able to enjoy to any extent. However, the position of the Hotel gives residents a level 5 minute walk into the centre of Mogan, which is a delightfully picturesque fishing village/port with a marina. The range of bistros and restaurants will cater for any taste and there are many boutique style shops stocking everything from perfume to electronics.

This was our second visit to the Mogan Cordial and it is the first time we have ever made a repeat visit to any hotel in the Eurozone. We were not disappointed at all with the Hotel, only the weather, which will hopefully have returned to 'warm & sunny' for our next visit!

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The weather on the whole has been good - sunny most days , but mornings and evenings a little chilly.
Two very nice large pools and plenty of room for swimming. Very warm too!
We did request a room with sun in the afternoons and evenings, but our room on arrival was cold and no sun. Reception did arrange for a heater for our room, and put us on a waiting list for a room with some sun. We moved after three nights, and our new room was 5C warmer.
Entertainment every night, and some shows better than others.
Breakfast very good, with a huge choice. Two seatings for the buffet in the evening - 6pm or 8.30pm and you sit at the same table each night.
Again a good choice, but being vegetarian it was sometimes hard to know what I could eat. There would be a salad or aubergine dish, and then I would realise there was ham in it. Marking vegetarian dishes with a green star or similar idea would be a help. After three weeks I did get fed up with buffets, and felt maybe bed and breakfast would be better as there were so many restaurants around the port, and you could have eaten at a different place each night.
The rooms and hotel are kept spotlessly clean, and all the staff are so cheerful and work very hard.
The Reception team were most helpful. We really liked Cheryl.
The grounds are beautiful with 500 different species of plants.
There is an a la carte restaurant in the hotel and you get 15 Euros each towards the cost. Lovely food and ambiance and great not to have to help yourself!
There is a problem in the mornings with guests reserving sunloungers and it seemed to get worse during our stay. Before we went to breakfast, most loungers would have towels on them! There is a notice saying you could only reserve a bed for 90 minutes, but it would be much better if there was a notice saying no reserving of sun beds at all.
We would definitely return if we want some winter sun, and a lot of the other guests we met had stayed several times before.
Puerto de Mogan is a delightful port/ village, and lovely to explore. A nice beach and so many restaurants with lovely views.

Room Tip: Wifi not good in every room, but fine in reception. If you want a sunny room, make sure you ask for one, as many rooms do not get any sun.
