“This is our second visit”
Reviewed August 30, 2014

This is our second visit to this delightful Spanish resort. Once again, we were not let down! Our welcome started with a lovely glass of Cava whilst checking in at Reception and then we were taken to our charming room overlooking the swimming pool. We really can't find fault with Cordial, and one of the many highlights for us the is most amazing buffet in the evening! We have travelled extensively and this is undoubtedly the best. There's something for everyone! Although Cordial's brochure does not do it justice, this resort is also child-friendly and although we tend to prefer holidays without lots of children, we were quite happy to sunbathe at the 'kiddies' pool who, although exuberant, were not in the least badly behaved. We also used the 'adult' pool which is also beautifully designed with lots of mature landscaping. One small downside is that the balcony to our room had a solid wall, rather than a metal 'see-through' one which meant we were unable to enjoy the view - pity. We also were not hugely in favour of having a choice of either 6:30 pm or 8:30 pm for dinner as we normally have our evening meal at 7:30 pm, however, we so looked forward to the buffet, we put this minor aggravation to one side. I enjoyed several visits to the spa which is well run and has a very calming atmosphere. The little harbour of Porto Mogan is literally a seven minute pleasant walk away and has a delightful atmosphere with many cafes, tapas and bars and lots of water movement with small and large boats/yachts on the go. We plan to book again next February (if it's not fully booked, that is!) and look forward to our next visit whenever that might be. It goes without saying that the weather is also a huge draw!

Room Tip: Don't have a room with a solid balcony wall. Views are severely restricted.

I have just returned a few days ago from this hotel this would be the 4th visit over the past 12 years. We visited with our kids 13 and 9. We used to love this hotel and decided to book again we don't often return to the same hotel twice this is the only hotel we visited more than once in Europe. The last time we visited was around 5 years ago.

The hotel used to have this real luxury feel to it with robes slippers and lovely rooms and you didn't mind the fact it was half board as the food was so good and the surroundings this was a small price to pay and without sounding snobby the half board sometimes erases certain types of stereo typical all inclusive travellers. However the drinks were very over priced this time around, to the point that we just ordered mineral water at meal times most of the week and purchased wine and soft weeks from the Spar shop that was very near by 5 minute walk you do have a fridge in our room. To give an indication on the first night we arrived we had a bottle of Cava that was 18 Euros the same bottle in the nearby supermarket was 5.50 Euros. We had a round of soft drinks in the daytime this was 3 smoothies and a coffee and the bill total was 28 euros. Its a real shame as we noticed only very small number of customers purchasing drinks and we quickly realised why. If the prices were middle of the road the sort of prices you pay in the port itself in the cafes this would have be fine the prices have definely gone up and we had a 10% discount card too this is free to anyone returning you just have to call up and ask before you revisit and they post you a card.

On this note when I called to order the card as we lost our last cards some years ago I specifically requested a family room or interconnecting rooms as we couldn't book the suites as our daughter was 13 the minimuim age for two kids in the suite is 12. So we booked two rooms when I called the hotel I was told no problem at all they have plenty of family/interconnecting rooms when we arrived there was all denial of this call and we were made to feel very unwelcome and were basically told they would try to sort something else out the next morning as the hotel was fully booked not a great start to the holiday.
They did the next morning move us but we were very partronised by the head of reception who gave us a lecture on booking at a hotel which I could not believe !

If you need interconnecting rooms make sure you get a name and email confirmation as apparently although I called the hotel direct the number goes of somewhere else hence the mix up.

Other returning customers have mentioned welcome fruit on returning in the rooms we had this last time but a very poor start this time and no welcome fruit in the room and they seemed to overlook our requirement's.

They did however give us a complimentary upgrade to the ala carte restaurant as an apology so they made an attempt to ensure we were made to feel welcome after this awful start.

On the plus side the rooms are very basic but very very clean, and the gardens are still beautiful. I visited the spa twice and had treatments and this was amazing.

Dinner was like a cattle market I think they have too many people staying at the hotel and not enough restaurant space. They have almost become a victim of their own success.
Dinner was never so busy when we visited before even in peak season.

The food is still very good though. I wouldn't come back to this hotel though as they try to force you to dine in timed sitting's and it's just to manic and at the same table each night I really don't like to be so forced in to all of this on holiday.

The wifi didnt work in our room and only sometimes worked on the balcony we had no sun at all on our balcony so I would email and request this as we didnt sit out as our balcony was blocked by all the plants and totally in the shade at all times. And swimwear didnt dry out outside because of this.

If you need email for business on this holiday in the room you could not rely on the wifi in the room. This was a pain.

We have stayed in many other 4/5 star hotels and never has it been so busy in the dining areas they really need to sort this out. Most nights our plates were just not cleared of the tables and that is not nice when you are eating desert and the dinner plates are all over the table.

Top Tips Bring a travel Iron and kettle. There is neither.

Visit Maspalomas lovely area and we had a half hour camel ride in the dunes which was great fun there is a bus station by the spa shop all the buses have air conditioning and go all around the island and this was much cheaper than an organised tour too.

Friday market is really good fun it goes right round the harbour. It starts early and finishes around lunchtime.

Bring your EU health card there is a free medical centre as long as you have your card if you do need to see a doctor we needed ear drops and we were in an out within 20 minutes - by the bus station (not the private one where you pay a fortune on the sea front they do not accept the EU cards)

Overall we did have great holiday but for the money we spent £4100 for 1 week all inclusive our 13 year old is counted as adult and this is peak season. I would rather go somewhere else and on an 4 or 5 star all inclusive instead with drinks at these prices.

Sadly the Cordial seem's to have lost its special magic it once had.

Room Tip: Ask for a sunny balcony and if you need interconnecting rooms make sure you request this on email an...

This is the second year we have visited with our children both 5. We don't usually go to the same place but as it was so fantastic last year we decided to go again. This year we visited in school holidays end of July. It was good that it was still not over crowded and you can get a sunbed easily. The children love the disco and kids club and we love the food!!!
The staff are so friendly and some remembered us from the year before.
We definitely want to return !!!
The best rooms are facing the main pool by reception!! Also if you have a cordial card when you revisit you get one night free for every 7 nights staying which Is very good value !

This was our 2nd holiday to Cordial Mogan Playa after first enjoying a fabulous holiday here last summer and we were yet again not disappointed. As a well travelled family of 4 (including our 9 year old daugher & 5 year old son), we can honestly say that this is definitely one of our favourite places to holiday, with both the resort and hotel living up to all of the positive reviews it recieves. After staying here last year, we of course knew what to expect and we seemed to have an even better time this year. The hotel is quite stunning aesthetically which you realise upon arrival outside and also when stepping into the lobby and reception area. The facilities there are fantastic from a Spa, to Tennis Courts, Ten-Pin Bowling, 2 large pool areas,Jacuzzis, and plenty for children to do with a games room & a great mini-club that they can dip in and out of, and they are really great with the children. The pools themselves are nice and warm and large enough to never feel crowded at all, and always plenty of sun beds to go around. The restaurant is also fantastic, very large seating areas and fabulous choice of food to cater for all tastes both at breakfast & dinner. Being allocated the same table each night for familarity is also catered for, or they are happy to switch you to another area or dinner slot if asked so it is both very professionally organised and also flexible at the same time. The gardens are particulary stunning just walking through them and are well tendered each day. We had an inter-connecting family room which was just perfect for us and our 2 young children, giving us both a bit of space in the main room and they had their own room with the security of being inter-connected.

We have found the staff always extremely warm, friendly, very efficient and seem genuinely happy to work there, a big feature of this hotel we feel. The resort itself also provided everything we wanted with the beach just a short stroll away, plenty of places to eat or drink and a walk around the marina each day was one of our highlights as it is just stunning. Would recommend a boat trip to Anfi to get out for the day which we all really enjoyed, plus we met other families who hired a car to explore the island a bit more too. Biggest compliment we can give is that we will definitely be going back again and cannot recommend this hotel enough.

I have stayed in this hotel on several occasions and the standards throughout are excellent. The service is excellent throughout the hotel from the lifeguards through to the waiters and waitresses. The pools and towel service is great and the kiddies evening club a great addition. The food throughout is first class as is the wellness spa. In terms of improvement a bit of investment in the gym and maybe bbc1 and itv 1 for the uk guests would be very good. The location is superb and I will be back again.

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at this hotel, which in itself speaks volume. This time we booked a family room which consists of a single room and bathroom and then a double room with its own bathroom. Our daughter is only 10 and we could have had a standard room with a camp bed but for £500 more for 11 nights the family room has been well worth the extra.
The food, service and housekeeping are still excellent. My daughters air conditioning was broken, but once I told the maid it was fixed within half an hour.Exceptional customer service.
The entertainment is generally poor at night, although last night there was a magic show which was very good.
The hotel is showing some signs of its age now.The Rooms are clean but furnishings a little dated, the hotel is 10 years old now and will in my opinion soon need modernising.
However, all things considered, this is still value for money in comparison to similar rated hotels.
We will be hard pushed to find a hotel as as good as this for next year, but will not return for a few years only because there are too many other places to visit.
One final point, there are lots of British kids here at the moment..a huge plus for my daughter who is an only child. This may not suit everyone, but having been to other hotels where most are Foreign, this makes our life a lot easier if she is happy!

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor room..
