We are staying at cordial mogan and upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised with the size of the reception area and it's unusual but distinctive decor. We were greeted with champagne and made to feel welcome immediately. After unpacking in our spacious and very clean room, we set out to discover what a delightful hotel this was. With immaculately kept gardens and surroundings. The staff are extemely obliging and are there to look after you. The restaurant has two sittings and you keep the same table all holiday. The food areas are a little confusing as you have to walk about through the tables to each separate station. The
Pools are clean, it is big but you don't feel lost and it is very relaxing. Five minutes walk from the seafront with its bars and cafes. A beautiful location, wonderful hotel, I would recommend it to everyone. Book it now. Don't miss this jewel on gran canaria.

My husband and I have just returned from a 2 week stay at this beautiful hotel in Mogan. From the word go the staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. The hotel gardens are absolutely stunning and really have to be seen to be believed. We had a junior suite which comprises a twin bedroom, lounge, bathroom and terrace. It was nicely decorated and very clean. There was a tv in the lounge area but as with most hotels , no kettle (we took our own). There were 2 sunbeds plus a table and 2 chairs on the terrace which was a good size. The air conditioning was good, the rooms were cleaned daily but we were also offered clean towels again in the evening. We were half board and the food was fine. We tended to eat out at night so only ate in the hotel 3 times. One distressing thing was at breakfast , the amount of people stealing food for lunch time was horrendous. I was just pleased to see it was all nationalities! The 2 swimming pools were great and there was never a problem getting a sunbed. There were a lot of children with lilos, rubber rings etc which sometimes made the place a bit cluttered. It may have been nice to have an adults only section in one of the pools. Mogan itself is beautiful but very expensive. Also you have to undergo a bit of a hair raising drive to get to Mogan from the airport, but over the 2 weeks we got used to it. Overall a fabulous holiday at a beautiful hotel in a beautiful resort.

Room Tip: The junior suites are very quiet and peaceful

I stayed here with my boyfriend in June for a week. After a terrible hotel the previous year, we spent ages reading reviews and checking hotels out before eventually deciding on the Mogan Playa. We weren't disappointed! Upon arrival we received complementary champagne and our luggage was taken to our rooms for us.

The room was spotless, perfect size and contained everything you could possibly want. Balcony was nice and private with full screens either side so you didn't have to see your neighbours! I followed the tips on here and emailed the hotel asking for a view of the pool and that is exactly what we got.

The staff were very pleasant, nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellant, so much choice! We sat in the water garden on a night which was nice and tranquil. We booked with Thomas Cook and there was no mention in the brochure that men have to wear trousers on an evening in the restaurant. Luckily, my boyfriend had travelled in a pair of jeans so he had to wear those every night although we did spot one guy wearing long shorts on more than one occassion so, he may have been ok in the smart cropped trousers/shorts he had packed.

The pool and jacuzzi were lovely, I agree with some of the comments on here that the beach is a little odd! Its gravel not sand and it gets really hot and burns your feet. Most people go to the pool to avoid the sand/pebbles so it seems a bit weird. We managed to get sunbeds right next to the path so we just had to do a quick jump over the gravel. Comfy matresses for the sun beds and using the hotel's pool towels was great. We didn't have to fight for sunbeds either, there was always beds free no matter what time we got there.

We went to the beach one day and it was everything you could want. Its about a 10 minute walk down to the front. Lots of nice bars by the beach and in the harbour. We went on the Yellow Submarine one day, well worth a go as you get to see lots of fish and a shipwreck. We also had a fish pedicure on the seafront.

On the last day we swapped our evening meal for lunch. Again, there was so much choice to eat! We had our final meal at one of the restaurants in the harbour which was very romantic with the sun setting over the boats.

The hotel has beautiful gardens and waterfalls. I visited the spa one day and had a manicure. Very nice and relaxing though I discovered a shop closer to the harbour that did the treatments cheaper. The spa was being refurbished whilst we were staying there so it was set up in another a building.

We didn't really see much of the entertainment as we tended to walk down to the harbour on a night. One night there was a guy singing in the pool bar who was very good.

We couldn't figure out why this hotel doesn't have 5*'s as everything was spot on and we couldn't have asked for more. We would definately like to return and will be checking out the prices for next year.

Thank you to all the staff for a pleasant stay. x

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the pool as we got the sun on the balcony in an afternoon

I stayed here first in July '12 with my parents & a friend, and we enjoyed it so much I have just re-booked to go back with my husband. I would agree with most of the reviews below - and if going there for the first time, I recommend reading through the reviews below and noting down things that may apply to you: things to do/ places to eat/ shows to catch/ general tips to make the whole experience better as it helps you settle in quicker - I did this before we went so had no problems finding the supermarket/ knew to request mattress toppers & bathmats etc.

As mentioned, the beds are hard but the toppers definitely help. The baths are slippery, hence the mats - especially for older people or kids. There are black-out curtains in the room - easy to miss. The fridge is very handy for keeping your supermarket drinks cold.

We went half board & were very happy with the food at both breakfast & dinner - great selection although not always labelled as someone mentioned below... But most staff are only too willing to help - if in doubt have a word with the maitre 'd - there's always someone on duty to listen and provide assistance quickly.

Agree with many about the slow service at the pool bars, (in particular the one furthest from reception) and the evening bar downstairs where the entertainment takes place - but those who are there are generally trying their best - I think there's just not enough staff on.

We personally preferred La Fula for lunch and evening drinks - but suggest you try them out to see what suits best.

The entertainment in the evening is hit & miss - Il Divo tribute was our favourite, but we were happy to chat to other guests or play cards or go down to the village of Mogan on the evenings when entertainment didn't seem too exciting. I can recommend "Zoo" bar & cafe for great cocktails!

As another reviewer mentioned, the cocktails in the hotel are hit & miss - but again, when we did mention a particular badly made one to our waiter, it was immediately replaced - so full marks for customer service again.

The animation team are not as motivated with getting guests involved in daily activities as in other hotels I've stayed at - you may see this as a good or bad thing :) We didn't mind - we were there to chill and we soon discovered the daily aqua aerobics. There is a listing by the restaurant and in reception area where you can check what's on daily, so for teens or more active adults, you can investigate what suits.

We had WiFi in our room & throughout the resort - often slow but it was there. So maybe the reviewer below was unlucky not to have it in the room as it may not be in all rooms? Again its worth requesting in advance if specifically needed - I have now done so for the return trip with my husband.

We generally didn't venture further than the town to potter around the shops & marina but we did take the ferry to Puerto Rico one day just to see it. Its a pleasant 30 min boat ride along the coast, we only stayed 45 mins to have a stroll around, then returned back to our tranquil resort.

And as mentioned before, it really is better to chat to a manager while there about any issues - they seem only too happy to help, genuinely seem to want happy customers & hopefully good recommendations and return business, and chances are you will get your issue resolved, rather that stew on it and go back home unhappy.

One evening, we had dinner in the a la carte restaurant, Los Guayres. If half board, you get 15 E pp off the bill. Fabulous service & food - we sat out on the verandah - it was gorgeous. I highly recommend it.

We also booked a private transfer to/from the airport through the hotel - euro84.00 each way for 4 people, having read here that the shuttle bus can take up to 2 hours depending on the number of drop-offs/pick-ups at other resorts. Our trip only took 40 mins so we felt it was worth it.

In my opinion - above all else (the fabulous gardens, grand foyer, 2 lovely pools, countless facilities etc - all of which are mentioned in reviews below) - what makes this resort stand out is the people working here. Almost everyone we met was professional, friendly, and genuinely seemed to like their jobs. A special mention to Marcos, Carmelo, Paula, Sofia, Lazaro and Carmen Soccoro who all made our stay so memorable - looking forward to seeing you next time :)

This is such a lovely hotel. We have been visiting Mogan for several years but this was the first time we stayed in this hotel. The staff are v friendly and the hotel is spotless. We had booked half board which should have meant breakfast and dinner however, the hotel v kindly let us swap for breakfast and lunch as we really love eating out in the marina restaurants at night. The breakfast buffet was the best I have ever seen, serving a massive range of breads, cereals, cooked breakfasts, cheeses, cold meats and even freshly made smoothies of your choice! Suffice to say we came home slightly heavier.....The lunch is again a buffet served near the second pool. As it is one from around 12.oo-3.00pm sometimes things can be a bit dry. However, we found it sufficient as after such a big breakfast, a light lunch was all we could face. The a la carte restaurant 'Los Guayres is really worth a visit. We went twice in one week. The atmosphere is so peaceful, the waiters extremely attentive and the food was of a v high standard. Our room was standard and although slightly cramped with the fold away bed for our son, it was absolutely spotless and nicely decorated. It was also cleaned every day, only once the maid didn't turn up but when we phoned reception, it was done immediately. The pools are massive and accommodate lots of people. In fact even though there were lots of families, it never really felt loud or over crowded. The evening entertainment was ok, nothing too crazy, quite chilled out but there was a mini disco and the cocktails are v good. There is also a spa which my husband went to and enjoyed. In our opinion this is a v calm and tranquil place, definitely not for those who want to go mad or party. For us, it was perfect, a relaxing atmosphere with lovely facilities. We will undoubtably be returning, Mogan is such a wonderful little place and completely different to the other resorts on the island.

Room Tip: We had requested a quiet one on the upper floors but to be honest you can't really hear any musi...

I am writing this review using the free Wi-Fi in our apartment (self-catering) in this lovely hotel. We have had an amazing time and have been very well looked after here. The rooms are fantastic and very spacious, the service brilliant; always friendly and polite. The location of Puerto Mogan is a little bit away from all the usual tourist locations so it's a relaxed and friendly place with a good mixture of People from all around the world as well as locals and Spanish holiday makers. It's a picturesque town with a lovely old harbour, many very good restaurants and a good variety of shops. There's a good supermarket just across the road and we catered for ourselves while we were here so I couldn't comment on the food in the restaurant. We only had breakfast on the first day and that was good but expensive compared to self-catering. We would love to come back -it's brilliant here and it's a shame we only booked one week. Ps: go out for cocktails in town as the ones in the hotel bar are not that great! (only downside - sorry!)
