Hotel Cordial Mogan Playa
A most unusual layout for a hotel, not boring and repetitive blocks, but imaginative and tropical.
Water and streams are used to effect and really enhance the the atmosphere.
Reception was polite and efficient, we were shown to our room by a friendly porter who pointed out the salient points of the hotel as we went.
The room passed all tests for cleanliness, we could not detect anything wrong at all, it also stayed that way as room service was first class. The air conditioning worked well and was not noisy or intrusive.
The grounds are very well kept with interesting trees and shrubs in abundance.
Both pool areas are clean and well maintained, the use of salt instead of chlorine is a huge plus as you don't leave the pool smelling of bleach. There are ample sun beds, the most comfortable I've ever met, with parasols available.

Food was first class at all times with a wide selection, well cooked and replaced frequently. One complaint is that water is not supplied free at dinner and costs E2.1 for a small bottle.
The management tried hard to make everyone's stay a success and were often seen “walking the patch” a questionnaire we completed outlined that the morning coffee was not hot enough, this was soon rectified.

Evening entertainment was generally good, the Choice Show Band were very professional and put on an excellent show. Other tribute bands were also worth a visit.

Tea and coffee facilities in rooms were not available anywhere despite some brochures saying they were.
Bar drinks are a bit pricey but can be bought outside at a reasonable price, no one seemed to worry if you brought in a carry bag full of drink. There is a fridge in the room, handy for keeping beer and water cool.
The harbour area is pleasant to walk around at night with many bars and restaurants available. The beach is safe and sandy (sahara sand) and only a short walk from the hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms closest to reception are more convenient and nearer the quiet pool.

Just arrived home having had two fantastic weeks at this hotel. This is the first time on a holiday where I can honestly say ALL the staff are very proffessional and friendly unlike most of the staff we came into contact with at Doncaster airport!. The staff take pride in their jobs and it makes the holiday more enjoyable. Our only gripe was the lack of staff at the bars but it didn't spoil our enjoyment. The hotel and gardens are very clean and the food was fantasic with lots of choice even for vegetarians. Being able to swap an evening meal for lunch came in handy and it was nice to eat lunch in another buiding for a change. The rooms are spacious and there are plently of sunbeds!! The beauty of this destination is not only the hotel but the picturesque harbour which is bar far the nicest along the coast. Will be returing in the New Year.

Room Tip: Top floor would probably be less noisy in the mornings when the cleaning begins about 8am and people...

This is our 3rd visit to this hotel and we always find it is exactly what it says on the tin!
We have been at various times of year but this is the first time in the winter months (first week in October) despite having a ground floor room (which is one of my pet hates!!) everything was great, food does become a little samey and alcohol prices seem to have increased dramatically at dinner and in the bar but okay.
I do wish the hotel would start it's own transfer service though as being on the usual package holiday bus for a long time does always taint the start and end of the break!!!
We did try the spa this time and found the treatments to be great and okay prices in comparison, I did feel that you should not have to pay to use the sauna and steam room etc as an extra!!

Room Tip: Rooms on all floors are noisy as no soundproofing and maid service does start early so furniture and...

We stayed here for the 4th time in January 2011 - my husband & two children aged 4 & 2. The whole place is spotlessly clean, well maintained and the rooms clean & comfortable. The food is good and I always know that there is something that the children will eat. It would probably get a bit samey if you stopped for two weeks but thr fish & meat grills means that you get a good variety. The hotel is in a great position and most days we would walk into the town. The pools are very clean and there are plenty of sunbeds. The only thing I would like is more english guests. My little girl loves meeting & playing with other children but over 90% of the guests are germans so the language proves a huge barrier! The kiddie club is great too.

I really can't fault this hotel. They cater very well for families and that's why we keep returning. Can't wait for January 2012!

We have recently returned from the most calm, relaxing and enjoyable holiday we have had in a number of years. Cordial Mogan Playa is set in the charming, picturesque Puerto de Mogan with its lovely beach, shops and harbour. It is a beautiful area to stroll around and soak up the local atmosphere. The Hotel rewarded us with excellent service from its friendly, attentive staff, delicious food and exceptional entertainment. This Hotel is so confident of its standards it encourages its visitors to go on 'The Hotel Tour', which takes a couple of hours to look around the hotel's nooks and crannies, which sounds boring but was the most fascinating insight to what makes a hotel tick and the high standards that Cordial Mogan Playa uphold. We cannot fault the care and attention we received on our holiday and are looking forward to returning again soon.

Room Tip: Rooms in the main hotel building are quieter

Puerto Mogan is a great choice for the visitor who doesn't want thumpety - thump nightlife - it is small but based around a genuine old fishing port rather than being a purpose built resort. So it has charm and also a good choice of restaurants, but no water parks, crazy golf or time share salesmen.
The hotel is outstanding. It is scrupulously clean and the staff seem to share a genuine commitment to customer service. Food is buffet based with almost too much choice. There are two swimming pools - one with 'animation' and the other a bit quieter - set in grounds that could qualify as a botanical garden. And there are a lot of grounds; you could spend hours wandering around. It is also what we in the UK would call DDA compliant with specific rooms for people with disability. Rooms are a good size with a decent balcony and air-con.
There was free entertainment of a reasonable standard every night of our stay; a Bee Gees tribute - not usually what we would watch - was actually quite outstanding . An unusual highlight was a (daytime) tour of the hotel (taking a staggering 2 hours) that included visiting all the backroom parts - including laundry and kitchens - that hotel guests usually never see. It says a lot about their confidence that they are prepared to show these areas, and it reinforced the impression of a high quality operation staffed by people who care about giving guests a good time.
So no negatives really - you'll pay 4 star prices in the bars, but there are nearby supermarkets where you can get perfectly drinkable wine from two or three euros (no really, it was perfectly drinkable!) And it was very hot in October - in the 30's - but a dry heat so when we go again we'll probably leave it to the new year.

Room Tip: Blocks C and D have a good view of one of the pools from floor 2 or above, and are handy for the rec...

We have just returned from two sunny weeks at Cordial Hotel Mogan Playa and found this exceptional hotel to be even better than we remembered. We first stayed there in February this year and for the first time in over 20 years of European travel returned to a hotel in the same calendar year. There are nine accommodation blocks ,with a total of 480 rooms and suites, spread over a huge area of trees and bushes and 2 massive pools .The architecture of the buildings is mind boggling with trees and waterfalls galore.Helpful staff and omnipresent management never revealed a sullen frown and always greeted you with "ola".The food was excellent .Mogan,a small village when we first saw it in 1998,has not suffered from its major development ,and its flower strewn area known as Little Venice is still the same as it was 13 years ago.It would be unfair to single out any particular member of staff as "the star"but that title could be shared between the air conditioning (an unfailing relief to return to after a day of temperatures in the mid 30s)and the coach driver who returned us to the airport after nonchalantly manoeuvring his large vehicle through ten point turns in the pick-up hotels'narrow driveways.

Room Tip: A high (3 or 4)floor facing South gets the afternoon sun
