location is brilliant. food is a bit on the stodgy side - a giant overcooked broccoli floret, 2 large boiled potatoes, an unevenly cooked fish steak.
but remember this is gran caneria, not mayfair. go to watch the people and the sea, and perhaps an ice cream. but not haute cuisine.

Went to El Faro twice on our 3 week holiday. First time not too bad, second time can't comment on the service as we were totally ignored upstairs by the waiter who was more interested in serving his Spanish friends who had arrived after us. This was on Saturday 23rd November and he definitely seen us, Worst place in Mogan

This was a very enjoyable walk out to the lighthouse restaurant, which involves circumnavigating the marina and the boatyard, and the trip is definitely worth it. We sat on the upper floor, which gives great views back to the marina and the beach, and out to the Atlantic Ocean. It went past last-minute preparations on a two-man rowing boat which was about to cross the Atlantic - 3,000 miles in 30 days!
Two adults with a 5 year old child, we ended up with one salad 'El Faro', which was very nice, and one child's fish and chips, which, unusually, was grilled (probably hake), and went down very well. I chose three tapas dishes, and was told to stop by the waiter when my greed, and the images conjured up by the menu, would have taken me further. I had whitebait with red mojo sauce, octopus 'a la Gallega' and prawns in garlic oil, all of which were very good.
The service was excellent. Our son, on discovering that the waiter was from Seville, had no hesitation in reminding him that Real Madrid has just beaten them 7-3, which he took in great spirit. He went off duty, and we never learned his name, but he is a star in the making.
There is a dumb waiter service from the restaurant to the roof, which works very well, and the service was very fast.

Having been here a few years, we decided to come back again this year. This restaurant is placed at the end of one of Puerto de Mogans's piers and is well-placed at the end of a stroll around the harbour - and it has free parking right outside if a car trip is more to your liking!
It was not a busy evening and we had a couple of tables facing the harbour - as most tables do. Seating on an overhead deck with a 360 degrees view is also possible.
We had a bit of everything - salads, meats, fresh fish, prawns.
The avocado salad was fresh and they just had enough produce for one. Our fresh fish was grilled 'viejas' ('old lady') and it was exactly that: fresh and grilled. Really delicious.
The prawns were like everywhere - cooked in their shells - probably imported and kept in the freezer until preparation.
The lamb chops were very small, grilled and tasty.
But the real scoop of the day was the T-bone steak. It was humongous, no less, cooked to perfection (order) and very much to the liking of the eater. If we come back one day, the entire party of eight will probably choose the T-bone!
The waither was young-ish, charming, confused and very service-minded. He did not know much of the menu and it its contents, but pendled back and forth to the kitchen to get information.
All in all this was a very positive experience in a pleasant, maritime setting - in a very cosy little town.
We will gladly come back.

On the menu they have a great variety of Spanisch and Canarian Tapa's.
The restaurant is situated at the end of the jetty with a nice view over the harbor.
You can watch the yellow submarine, watch the paragliders while having your tapa's, drink or icecream.
