“A 3* hotel in a 5* location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 30, 2014

We stayed for one week from 18th to 25th Jan 2014. The hotel met our expectations and we loved our room overlooking the sea, the view was superb. There are apartments a short walk from the hotel and some prefer those but we would always prefer a seaview in the hotel. Not sure whether some travel companies make this clear and so its worth checking when you book.
Our room was clean and bright and we were very happy with it. The bathroom may have been a little 'tired' but still nice and very clean so it really didn't matter.
The staff were excellent and always helpful. We arrived late on the Saturday night so missed dinner but they had put aside a picnic box for us which was very thoughtful. The food was good throughout with a good choice of buffet breakfast and dinner was good with some days exceptional. There was enough to choose from for most tastes and they even had some diabetic and gluten free things.
The pool was excellent but as some others have discussed on this forum , there are always those who cant help themselves and just have to bag a sunbed!! The hotel have made it clear you should not do this but some people are so selfish you just can't do anything about it. Having said that, there was plenty of room by the pool and plenty of sunbeds so there's no need to join in their selfishness. The roof terrace was the best spot anyway, yes it is called a 'nude solarium' which might put some off but its a sun terrace and if there is someone there who is 'participating' then you can find a spot where you can see the seaview instead!
An excellent hotel in a prime location in a fantastic resort. We will definitely be back to Hotel Puerto de Mogan

Room Tip: Its what you are given , not sure whether you can specify. There are hotel rooms which either overl...

Location - location and location! The 3 best reasons for staying in this lovely hotel, a little worn, but with the charm of age! The half board is a must - very good food! Get the temperature of the pool up to the promised 25 C and we will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Pool side ground floor gives direct access to the pool

Disappointingly on arrival my partner & I were not greeted with any kind of greeting other than a request for Passports from an unsmiling & rather surly young lady. On completion of the check-in formalities we were given a map and told to “turn left at the phone box”.

It became apparent that as we were not staying in the Hotel itself we were of secondary consideration, this purveyed its effect throughout our stay; there was a definite “them & us” syndrome which could have been addressed had we wished to upgrade to “superior”, enabling access to the Hotel pool & Spa facilities. This is something that is not made abundantly clear in a lot of brochures and the Hotel description, “shared facilities” is one aspect. Examples as below of some of the misleading descriptions

“including telephone, mini bar, air conditioning, satellite TV, safety box, and complete bathroom and guests can enjoy stunning views from the terrace or balcony and spend warm summer evenings relaxing with a drink. The apartments are located about 200 metres from the hotel and offer an en suite bathroom, a safe, kitchenette, mini bar and fridge, as well as a balcony or terrace. Facilities to make use of include the spa, where guests may relax with a massage room and sauna and enjoy a swim in the heated swimming pool, with a sun terrace and pool bar.”

Featuring an outdoor swimming pool, Apartamentos Puerto de Mogán offers air-conditioned apartments with a balcony or a terrace. The harbour is only 60 metres away. Guests can enjoy the shared facilities from the hotel located 300 metres away, which include a buffet restaurant, a pool-side bar and a spa. All apartments at Puerto de Mogán include a seating area with a satellite TV, a private bathroom and a kitchenette with fridge and hob. Some apartments include a microwave. Superior apartments have access to the nearby hotel’s swimming pool, which features a direct access into the sea.

Our apartment was at the other end of the complex next to the Marina pool. No mention was made of a safe deposit box. Only after trudging over to the apartment with our luggage and then finding out there was a safe in the apartment, I then had to make my way back to Reception to request a Safe key & pin.

The apartment itself, however is fairly well appointed and very clean, although cooking on two electric hob rings can be somewhat challenging!.. the inclusion of a Microwave would not go amiss. Maid service was also very good. Whilst one is on Holiday, TV is probably not something that features as a particular high priority, however in saying that there was only one English speaking channel….and that was CNN! Telecommunications being what they are nowadays, it is not beyond the wit of man to be able to have a “broad” spectrum of TV Channels. Keeping the theme of Telecomms, Wi-Fi, in this particular area, which is about as far from the Hotel as you can get, Wi-Fi was practically non-existent….unless you went up on the Roof Terrace!

Notwithstanding the above we enjoyed an excellent Holiday, that being our second visit to Mogan and it certainly will not be our last.

Room Tip: Apartments furthest away from the Hotel suffer lack of line of sight in respect of Wi-Fi, the only w...

Stayed at this Hotel in Puerto de Mogan over New Year. The Hotel is relatively small and simple and has a number of associated apartments in the pretty Harbour area. We stayed in a one bed apartment, but with Half Board at the hotel. The apartment was described as refurbished and it was in good condition with what looked like new furniture and soft furnishings plus a new paint job. The kitchenette is limited but we were not concerned as we were not doing any cooking. A wine glass would have been nice though. The roof terrace is nice, but could be so much better with a little more attention to furniture. We didn't get to use ours much as a family in one of the other apartments in the block had taken up residence and did not seem to move their towels night or day. It was nice to sit up there when the sun started to go down as it extended the day at this time of year. The hotel pool area was nice and also had access to the sea, it would have been good if it had been heated for the winter. Even though it must have been full it was never that difficult to get a sun bed.

We booked with Thomas Cook which included the half board, ideally I would have preferred just breakfast as there are so many restaurants around the harbour and beach area. We had previously stayed in the Cordial Mogan Playa and we preferred this one - we are not great fans of the mass buffet.

Overall as others have said this is a really nice simple hotel in a great location.

Room Tip: Check you are getting a refurbished apartment.

Best recharge hotel we have found.
This was a return visit so we knew what expect.
We contacted the hotel before flying out and requested a room on the ground floor overlooking the pool.
We were allocated a room which couldn't have been further away on the opposite side of the hotel and on the first floor!
Am I glad they did, it was great, the best room we've had in a hotel for years.
It was spacious with a balcony overlooking the marina, at first we were worried about the noise, we needn't have, there was very little and our sleep was never disturbed.
The staff, no matter if it was reception, bar, restaurant , or poolside were all willing to help and did it with a smile. The food was if possible better that before with a wide choice which would suit most people.
The one very small point is that after dinner the hotel only has a poolside bar were you can have a coffee or a drink. The tables and chairs a plastic and not very comfortable so most people leave the hotel and go to one of the marina bars. The hotel I think is losing money by not having a more comfortable bar area.
We had a great holiday and arrived back in Scotland ready to face the cold and wet.
Would we go back?
You bet we would, in fact we have already booked for next year.
A big thank you to all the management and staff.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the pool (that will free up the marina side for me)

This place is one of the most romantic places I've visited. It's a definite 'honeymoon' destination. We would have like to have had better views from our apartment but as it's a stone throw away from everything it didn't matter. We especially liked the roof top terrace. The food was amazing with lots of variety. The breakfasts were superb, all I would say is that if you wanted to have your breakfast by the pool eating area you had to use your card to enter into the pool area (be prepared to have several hands & great balancing skills)! This wasn't the case for the evening meal (phew)! The cleaning service was good. One tip..from the harbour look across to where a restaurant is lite up on it's own away from everything else, amazing place and the best food we had out, sorry can't remember the name but you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: On booking we did ask for a room with a harbour or sea view but they cannot guarantee this, however...
