“rest and relaxation”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

My husband and I shared a lovely, relaxing, 7 day self catering stay at the Cordial Mogan Valle. Supermarket right opposite so easy to buy all your provisions at reasonable cost. Hotel was clean, with 3 pools to choose from, never had a problem finding sun loungers, however, usually went to pool areas later in the afternoon. As we were self catering, we never did get round to eating in the restaurant so unable to coment on the food. Apartment quite spacious but seriously lacking in kitchen utensils, I'm guessing they keep it too an absolute minimum so that you eat in the resturant! No oven, only 2 hot plates, a microwave, toaster and a kettle [also coffee maker but we are not coffee drinkers so was put away to give us more surface area in the kitchen area].15 minute easy, level walk down to the beach and port, which we did most days. Plenty of places to stop for just a drink, lunch or evening dinner, one place we would recommend was Calima Restaurant Lounge, opposite the beach about half way along, recently opened with informed and helpful staff and owners. One downside to our holiday was the long transfers to and from hotel, Cordial Mogan is one of the last drop offs and took 2 hours each way!!! Torturous!!!

Room Tip: We had a corner apartment on the 2nd floor opposite the tennis courts, very quiet, apart from ceilin...

It was our third time at Cordial Mogan Valle and we took two other couples with us this time. Again a fantastic time. Excellent staff and apartments. Loved the resort as usual. Needed paramedics early one evening after husband had bad ankle cut in room the staff were outstanding, reacted straight away calling them for us, one of the cleaners came into clean up the apartment and each day we had a telephone cal from reception asking on his progress and sent us a bowl of fruit up. Can't speak highly enough of the staff. Can't wait to return next year. Love Puerto Mogan. The staff in the bars welcomed us again and all were very friendly. Apart from husband's ankle accident can't find anything negative to say about apartments, staff or resort. Would recommend canary transfers for transfer to resort and back, excellent service.

Room Tip: stayed in room i434 first time, i435 second time (on second floor only one lift to get there) and th...

The Cordial Mogan Valle is a great place to relax.I cant believe anyone could give anything less than 5/5 the location is fantastic and very chilled. Its only a 15 minute walk to the marina which is full of excellent resteraunts at a reasonable price. We stayed at the cordial valle for the first week in october and it was hot every day which us why we chose to hire air con for the room @60 euro for the week(its a must).
When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted with a nice glass of champagne and my request was met by the nice lady on reception which was for a high up room(810)which had bigger balconys than the lower floors. The rooms are spacious modern and very clean. There are 3 pools here all of which are great, one pool seemed to be mainly for kids which after the first day we then found the infinity pool which was lovely and quiet with plenty of beds all day long. This suited us as we just wanted a relaxed weeks break in the sun before a long winter ahead in the Uk,and thats what Cordial Valle gave us.
Some people seem to moan about the airport transfer but on arrival we found it ok 40mins but on the way back we had about 10 pickups which added an hour onto the journey :(
Across from the entrance to the hotel is the supermarket and shopping centre which has a nice indian resteraunt.5mins walk towards the marina on the right hand side you will find Zona Verde which is where the food is cooked on a wood burning stove(not BBQ)the food is out of this world and you will need to book, dont worry about the look of it as you approach because once you go round to the front there is a lovely terrace with overhanging trees draped in fairy lights. The price was good for the quality starters fresh galic prawnsx2 fillet steak x 2 vodka&coke x 2 bottles of wine x 2=87euros and all cooked fresh in front of you.
We are now planning our next trip to Cordial mogan valle after being too porto rico the last 3 times this place is our Favourate.....

Room Tip: Ask for high level rooms as these seem to have larger balconys which gives you more sunshine hours i...

went 28th september for 11 days travel republic/ryanair.me and the other half have just had the most relaxing holiday, weather great, resort quiet but great.the we stayed appt in 640,all you could want for the price £500 for 10 nights.clean, basic kitchen stuff, but your out all day your not living there.agree with all the reviews about the curry house opposite bang on dinner.the restaurants on the beach front v good ok bit samey but 45-60 euros food and few light ales(went lanzarote last year paying 60-80 euros a meal),back to appts, staff v friendly, layout little bit strange but got it after 1 day, would def go back.
tex mex restaurant at the far right of beach 1.5 euro a pint and the same next door, cafe maritime good breakfasts/omelettes.had 2 meals in the marina cafe de mogan very nice and the irish 1 (dennehys i think) also v good.
the only thing that cheesed me off was the car hire from GOLDCAR do not use them it is a bloody rip off.all payed for this end,but when you go to the desk they want extra insurance 66 euro and a massive 91 euro to fill the tank back up. a ford fiesta cannot cost 91 euro to fill up but the woman was having none of it,just wanted to get to resort so payed extra 157 euro on top of £110 on original booking will not use again.other then that fantastic holiday

Room Tip: get up high for quieter rooms

We booked a 7 days stay at the Cordial Mogan Valle because of the good reviews. We stayed there the first week of October and a had a good time.
The apartments are really big, so you have a lot of space there. There is a huge sun terrace with a shower with every appartment, so you don't need to go to the pool area to sunbath. We stayed in the highest floor in the north part of the hotel. As had been said before, it takes a while to get to your room from the reception area, expecially when you are on the opposite side of the complex. So it can be a bit annoying when you forgot something in your room and wanna get back to your room quickly.
The service was good. When we had problems we called the reception and they tried to help immediately. All in all, we had the impression that the people working at the hotel were very helpful but sometimes we missed a smiling face. The service was not very "warm", so to say. When we checked out, the person working there just handed over the bill, we paid, and that was it. No "thank-you", "good-bye", "have a nice trip". So that confirmed the impression we had of the service. The cleaning service was ok. However, e.g. the toilet paper was hardly ever replaced, so we always had to ask for new one which was a bit strange. Also the terrace was not always cleaned (from sand etc.).
A big problem for us was the sleeping. There was no air conditioning and the fan was just too noisy at night. So it was just really warm at night but that's probably what you have to expect when you are on Gran Canaria anyway ;) Also we felt that the beds were really not comfortable (as compared to a hotel we had stayed the week before).
We had booked breakfast. The choice of food was good. We didn't try the Buffet or Tex Mex restaurant at the hotel, or the pool bar. But at the snack bar the drinks were rather average.
For 5 euro you can spend 2hrs at the hotel spa. It's small but very nice and can be recommended - sauna, jacuzzi, floating - excellent!
What we liked best of your stay was Puerto de Mogan. Puerto de Mogan is a lovely place! By far the nicest little town/village we have seen in Gran Canaria. The choice of restaurants is excellent! From the hotel it's a 15 mins walk to the beach. We were there at the rather quiet time of the year, so there weren't so many people at the beach which was good. Both the beach and the water were clean. Just by the beach there are a lot of cafes and restaurants. We recommend Gelatomania for crepes and icecream! Extremely good food and nice service. At Cafe Maritime we had an excellent dinner! Try the barbecue ribs! Great service too!
From the beach it's another 5 mins to the harbour area which is really pretty. Here you find even more restaurants. We recommend La Tabona - excellent, fresh tapas, the best we have eaten in the whole town - and great service! A lovely little place with good prices! At El Cappuchino you can get yummy fresh fish. all the other restaurants/cafes we visited were ok, too, but rather average.

This was our second visit to the apartment hotel. While our accommodation and the facilities were still first class, we were disappointed to discover that three key issues had still not been addressed -

1. Guests, newly arrived, were not being shown to their room. The Mogan Valle is on a large site, at several different levels. The site map provided by Reception is woefully inadequate. New arrivals, tired and disoriented after several hours travelling, need a staff member to escort them to their room. This happens in the Cordial hotel next door : failure to provide such an escort in Mogan Valle may be a factor in guests' decisions about whether, or not, to return.

2. Reception staff, while very pleasant, often had an insufficient grasp of English to assure us that our wishes, etc. had been properly understood.

3. On some occasions, communication between staff also seemed poor. Two examples from our own experience -

a. The kettle in our apartment was faulty, causing the electricity trip switch to turn the power off. An electrician quickly identified, and solved the problem, and informed reception that we required another kettle. It was, however, several days later - and following a number of enquiries from us - before a replacement was provided.

b. Our tour company [ Thomson ] had arranged for us to retain our apartment until 18.00 on the day we departed : this was confirmed by Reception when I settled our account at 10.30. Despite this, a member of cleaning staff still wanted to prepare our room for its new guests. When we returned to our apartment at 13.30, after having had lunch, we found that Reception had de-activated our room key and our WIFI access.

On a more general note, and having been in the village for an evening meal, we would like to have spent some time, before retiring for the night, in the Snack Bar area, getting to know some of our fellow guests. We did not do so, however, because of its proximity to a children's play area. The noise this generated, even quite late in the evening, was sufficient to keep us in the quietness of our own apartment.

We chose the Mogan Valle based on reviews we'd read and weren't disappointed. We requested a quiet apartment in advance and were accommodated in the north end of the complex which was by far the quietest area.

The apartments are huge, spotlessly clean and decorated to a very high standard. Nice details such as lights coming on when you open wardrobe doors, quality beds/bedding and magnified shaving mirror in the bathroom. Safe and air con were extra - we went without air con (there's a ceiling fan in each room which was fine once you got used to the noise!), and the safe was 14 euros for a week which we thought was reasonable for peace of mind.

We were on the first floor (room 508) and had a vast balcony surrounded by palm trees overlooking the north pool (by far the quietest of the three pools - no kids area, easy to get sunbeds any time of day). The only downside was no bar/bar service - poolside cocktails and fresh coffee would've been a bonus - but it was less than a minute to nip up to our apartment to stock up on drinks/snacks and there was a vending machine with cold soft drinks, crisps/sweets etc.

There's a big supermarket right opposite reception which had everything you could need at reasonable prices, including freshly baked bread, fresh fruit, salad etc.

It's a 10-15 minute walk to the beach and about a 20 minute walk to the harbour where the nicer restaurants are. Zona Verde (by far the best steak we had) was about 5-10 min walk on the pedestrianised path to the beach. Don't be put off by the back of the building - the delicious food is cooked fresh on a wood burning barbecue on a secluded patio area.

All in all it was a lovely place to stay in a pretty little resort - highly recommended if you want sunshine and a bit of peace and quiet.

Room Tip: Apartments at the north end of the complex are quieter.
