During our stay several people I spoke to said they'd regretted reading poor reviews Trip Advisor,so I thought I'd write a more positive review! My partner and I have recently spent a week here and were delighted with the apartments for thevery reasonable price we paid - it was spotlessly clean when we arrived and regularly cleaned during our stay. Our sheets/towels were changed every 2 days and the bins emptied daily. I asked for another toilet roll and was given one! They loan fans at a reasonable cost - we purchased a remote control for the air conditioning unit for 8 euros a night. The pool area was spotless - anyone going out early in the morning would see staff hosing all the public walkways and sunbeds down. Also, we never had to rush out early with towels to claim sunbeds - there were always plenty. There are no natural shaded areas around the pool but it is easy to go into the pool bar for a rest/drink etc. Sunbeds on the beach - a few minutes walk, are only 6 euros.
The food at the Oasis is excellent - especially the 8 euro lunch deal. We also had their weekly BBQ food. It was all very quiet and peaceful - exactly what we wanted. I am a little upset by the comments on the rude staff. The owner has had a stroke recently - which is obvious from his lop-sided face and they will tell you this if you ask! It has left him without hearing in one ear which means that some may perceive he shouts at them. We found him, his brother, wife and other barstaff always helpful and anxious to please. The cleaning ladies are a little shy - again, a smile and a 'good morning' goes a long way!
The location is excellent and is exactly what the Olympic brochure says. It is far enough away from the resort centre to make it a really peaceful place. Tingaki itself is a small, quiet resort but it is easy to travel around, including into Kos town. The main street has some lively bars and discos at night, although if it's big night clubs you're after it's best to stay with the Twenties in Kardamena. The sunsets are incredible. The best and cheapest restaurant is Alexis - right at the end of the beach road, which has a superb rooftop garden where you can dine and watch the sun go down.
We went to Bodrum for a day - a nice day out but made me relieved I'd stayed in Greece! The 3 islands cruise is superb - each different stop/island had something special, along with the lunch, the guide and the sheer beauty of the area. It was a long day out and well worth the money. We also went to Nisyros, the 'volcanic' island and saw the hissing crater. This was an amazing experience.
We hired a car and managed to tour the whole of Kos island. Highlights were the peacock forest of Plati and going up into the mountains at Symi in the evening to see the sunset.
I can recommend Kos, the resort of Tingaki and the Oasis apartments. My partner and I will definitely return!
