I have literally just come back from Tingaki and the Mayflower Apartments and felt I needed to write this review.
The Mayflower are the nicest, cleanest apartments I think I have ever stayed in - in Greece, you totally feel part of the family and NOTHING is too much trouble.
My husbands Crown fell out 3 days into our holiday and they arranged for him to visit their family dentist, who charged less than a UK dentist would have charged - 10 mins to do the repair and 50 mins chatting - what a lovely guy.
The maids came in everyday to have a tidy up, beds changed twice per week and clean towels ever other day - the place was spotless.
Lovely pool and garden area, very well kept.
It was very hot during our stay 1-8th June so we did take the option of Air Con 10 Euro per night, but worth ever penny.
We visit a different Greek Island every year but these apartments helps put Kos in our Top 3 -with a view to return !!

Room Tip: Away from the pool area, in the gardens.

This was our first visit to Kos. After reading reviews on the Trip Advisor we booked two weeks self catering at the Mayflower Apartments and we were not disappointed, the staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were cleaned everyday, the food was good value for money. We were slightly dubious of the Greek night laid on by the Mayflower but joined in the second week, the staff organised seating arrangements and we really hit it off with the family next to us and had a brilliant night but suffered for it in the morning, everyone joined in and the food and entertainment was excellent! There is a short walk from the Mayflower into town which boasts a variety of tavernas, bars and a supermarket along with an array of bike/scooter/car hire shops. Highly recommend the Spyros and 'Nick the Greek' (blue and white taverna) followed by a cocktail from Meni's Cocktail Bar (Chris at the Mayflower also does a mean cocktail B52 was a favourite by the way Chris thanks for letting me test ride your bike) There is a little coffee shop/bakery half way along the high street on the left hand side, cakes and pastries to die for check out the fridge at the back of the shop for a huge variety of fresh gateau's.
Plenty of sun beds around the pool but if you fancy a splash in the sea sun beds range from between 3-5 euros each, the beach was lovely. Short bus journey into Kos town easy to use and bus runs almost every hour throughout the day and cost under two euros per person. We hired a few scooters and explored the island, Zia is a definate must do the views were amazing, we also went on the three island boat trip on the Santa Maria, definately worth going but check the weather to make sure its not too windy!! If I did have a gripe about staying at the Mayflower it would only be the noise and the comfort of the beds. We will definately return to the Mayflower.

This is a wonderful place to stay. We have just returned from our 6th holiday in Kos, and 4th time at the Mayflower, and can't wait to go back again. The rooms are very clean and spacious, with maid service every day. Towels changed at least 3 times a week and bedlinen similar. We paid for air conditioning for the 1st 2 nights until we got used to the heat, but after that it was fine. We also buy fly spray at the supermarket and spray the rooms before going out in the evening - this gets rid of any mosquitoes which may be lingering. The pool is big, and cleaned daily after the guests have left for the night.
The Greek night is great fun, with superb food and dancers giving a show of traditional culture. It also gives you a chance to meet other guests!
The bar is open until 2am, but if you do not want alcohol there is a good selection of soft drinks and tea, coffee and hot chocolate.
The family - Elia, Costa, Christo and Zoe, feel like my second family now, and the welcome is always wonderful. They will go out of their way to make sure your stay is a good one! So much so that when I contracted a tummy bug on my 2nd day and felt dreadful, Elia made me a traditional Greek remedy (rice soup with lemon) which cleared everything up within 12 hours of eating it! Where else would you get such good service.
The hotel is quite a distance from the beach, but it is walkable - I have problems with my legs but still managed comfortably. The resort of Tigaki has numerous good restaurants and bars. All serve similar food - just pick your favourite. Sagittarius is the nearest for excellent fare, Esperos is probably the farthest walking along the coast road. Again an excellent restaurant. Scala is brilliant and the waiters there always have time for a chat.
I cannot fault the Mayflower and the resort of Tigaki, and over the years we have made some great friends with both other guests and the Greek people themselves. One of your reviewers gave this place a very bad report and no-one we spoke to could understand this. It felt like a stab to the heart!
The only problem with writing a good report is that it is making it more and more difficult to book at the time of year you wish to go, as everyone seems to want to return! This year was the latest holiday we have had in Kos (29th Sept-13th Oct), and the weather is not as good as earlier in the year. We experienced a few nights when the North wind was blowing which made the evenings very chilly. Also this next week Kos is experiencing quite a lot of rain. We were lucky to miss this, so I feel a bit sorry for people who have booked this late in the season. However it is still a lot warmer than the UK.
The weather of course is not the fault of the hoteliers, although I understand some people try to complain as if it were! Also at this time of year, a lot of the restaurants have closed for the season, and the supermarkets are not as full of stock as usual. I think that is probably the only problem experienced.
All in all, a wonderful holiday! Thank you, Mayflower!

I would highly recommend these charming apartments to anyone travelling to Tingaki with a family. The apartment is spacious, comfortable and clean with lots of storage space and a light, bright feel to it. The kitchen area is not very useful as there is nowhere to drain dishes or to put anything down, but it is fine if all you want to make there is a bit of breakfast/lunch. The lounge area contains a comfortable settee and decent size dining table and chairs. You cannot get reception on the TV but most people don't go on holiday to watch TV, so this shouldn't be a problem. The bathroom is well equipped, modern an kept very clean. Cleaners come in every day except Sunday and towels are changed every 2-3 days, as was bedding. Quality of towels varied, some were large, soft and fluffy but others were rather worn and a bit on the small side for drying yourself off after a shower. As we stayed in the annex, the room had a fabulous balcony that stretched around the front and side. The gardens in this area of the hotel are delightful, containing an assortment of fruit trees and plants. Gardens are very well maintained. The pool is a great size and is maintained to a very high standard. The area around the pool is spacious and surrounded by a lovely assortment of trees and plants. The pool bar is a liittle expensive compared to other places in Tingaki, but the portions and drink measures are very large. The Greek night is a must. A delicious plate of food accompanies an evening of dancing and party games. Do join in if you go, it's great fun and well worth the price for the food alone. The nearest supermarket is just a short walk through a field. It is the largest in Tingakli and stocks everything that you will need at a good price. It does take 5-10 minutes to walk into town, but this is worth it as it means you get a quiet night to sleep. The pool bar is shut a 2am to make sure that no-one is sitting up til all hours keeping you awake. There is a dog shelter near by and so you do get a bit of noise from dogs barking for about half an hour in the morning and again at early evening (feeding time I assume). Please don't lrt this put you off, I included the comment because I like to be honest when I write these reviews but it is not a major problem and we were certainly never kept awake at night by them. In general, this is a gem of a property and we were frequently told by tour guides and holiday reps that they consider The Mayflower to be the best property in it's category in Tingaki, and they should know!

Stayed at the Mayflower apartments for the fist time and would definitely return for a second visit, made to feel so welcomed by the family who own it. We found these apartments and surrounding pool areas very clean and maintained to a high standard we would highly recommend a stay here for either families or couples. If the beach is your preferred option then be prepared for a 20 min stroll on the back road or a bit longer if you take the strip where you will find the shops and bars. There are a few good restaurants, Spyros and also Mylos directly across the road are worth trying. We also hired bikes for a day, (make sure you get a comfy saddle), the roads are quite and the landscape flat around Tignaki.

The Mayflower is fantastic. It is a small family run hotel with approximately 22 rooms. The rooms are very clean, and bedding and towels changed regularly. We have been back to this hotel for the last 8 years, we class this hotel as our second home.
From the minute you arrive on your holiday, this family cannot do enough for you. The family are Elia, Kosta, Christo ,Aristea and Zwn. They all work hard to give you an enjoyable holiday. The meals are very good and well priced. The Greek night is a must, food is superb, the family put alot of time and effort into this evening, and acheive a fanatastic enjoyable atmosphere with lots of dancing.
The swimming pool is very clean and pool area kept immaculate. Recommend having the air conditioning at 9 euros a night.
The Island has such alot to offer, hire a car. Sevi rent-a car on Tingaki High Street, is one we have used year after year. Niko at sevi cars is a handsome gorgeous man, and will give you a good deal. We had a puncture this year and he came out to us with his son to repair the puncture within minutes. For days out, there is Kos town which has the Knights of Saint John on Mandraki harbour, for shopping we recommend to go in the evening, it is too hot in the day. This July temperatures were nearly 40 degrees at mid-day. There are a variety of shops, or you could just chill in many tavernas for a drink or a meal by the harbour. If you like alot of shopping, catch a boat over to Bodrum in Turkey. It is cheaper to book tickets yourself.
If you want a day at the beach, there is Tingaki beach, which is a short walk from the Mayflower, about 15 minutes. At the southern end of the Island, there is Markos beach, which has water sports, and a taverna, and Paradise beach also has water sports, but is a bit more commercial. For peace and quiet, visit Lagada beach between Markos and Paradise, where a little old greek lady will give you water melon and a frappe, when hiring her sunbeds. Two beds cost 6 euro.
Go to Kefalos, and you can go down the side of club med and can swim from the beach to an island where there is a church. If you drive therough Kefalos and keep going to your left you will come to Agios Thelogos. There is a small monastry there and the views are fantastic. Also near there, is another beach Kavo Paradiso, it is beautiful but it is a dirt track road to get to, need a jeep or a moped really.
For a evening meal and spectacular sunsets, you should visit Zia, with mountain sunset views or book a table for the best seat at Tam Tams, which is situated opposite Lido water park on the road to Mastichari, right on the beach, after dark the tables are lit by lanterns, prices for food and drink are very reasonable, but also Mastichari has some good fish restaurants.
In Tingaki, we suggest Esperos restaurant, right opposite Tingaki beach, just off the high street, where the food is very good. Stamati will make you more than welcome.
Other good restaurants are Sagittaurus, O Neiro and Sypros. If you like a bar, try Katros bar on Tingaki High Street, where staff are very welcoming and the drinks are strong.
In Kos town Ideal restaurant is very good, go for an evening meal and Zwn is a very charming lady and will recommend a meal for you and you won't be disappointed.
Also on the Island, Plaka is well worth a visit, to see the peacocks, which wander around in the forest. Visit the hot springs and if you like ruins there is the Fortress of Antrimachia.
You can catch the ferry from Mastichari across to Kalymmnos Island and visit Vathi and see the little village with all the orange trees, or visit Masouri on the other side of Kalymnos and sit on the beach. If you like mountain walking you could walk to the top of Mount Dikeos, which overlooks the top of Zia and the views all over the island are tremendous.
We could go on forever. Christo finds us somewhere new to visit every year. We will be returning next year in August. Counting the months down.
