“Miros is all about location”
Reviewed July 17, 2010

Just stayed in the Miros apartments with the other half and I can honestly tell you that this is well worth a look at, if you can get the apartments and flight for less than £300pp.
The apartments are typical of Greek islands, basic and they were reasonably clean and well maintained, about a 7 out of 10. The owner and staff leave you alone but are welcoming if you make the effort. The pool bar offers basic meals but we were hardly there even though the pool area is quite pleasant. What makes these apartments is where they are - set back from the main road amid farm fields but 2 minutes away from the best beach on kos, apart from Paradise beach in the south of the island and it is a close call. Tigaki is ideal from couples wanting a peaceful holiday with a nice beach and warm waters. Try esperos for great meals in the evening and a decent breakfast, just 5 minutes along the main road into the resort centre. The centre is less than 10 minues away but is not over developed and you can wander round and choose a different taverna each night if you wish. Greece is not cheap anymore but you can get a good meal and a bottle of local wine for £30 or less depending on your choice. Beware the sunbed vultures, you will pay between 5 and 10 euros a day and the beach can get windy, cool but sometimes to much. We got a bargain and would definitely return to kos as it was very relaxing. For some life at night, try Mickeys beach bar, you will get a friendly welcome and great service.

Miros s/c apts are a 5-10 min walk from the one street of Tigaki. Very peaceful, set amid farm fields. Nice pool, well maintained appts, quiet, lowkey poolbar, inside bar for evening. 50m from quiet section of beach and bus stop. Vreliable service to Kos town. The walk to a taverna for dinner need not be more than 400m.We also cycled into the capiltal v flat and bike lanes. Restored Roman house and Odeum and the main castle all worth a visit.
For car hire we went to Visma tours a small place well down from the rounabout but vreasonable with a very helpful chap in charge.

Myself and my partner have just returned from stayin at the miros studio apartments. we had a fantastic relaxing time. Set in the quite resort of Tingaki opposite the beach with fantasti views of bodrum or in our case breath taking views. the apatments are a great base to stay self catering with two single beds which are pushed together to form a double. sounds naff but honestly no complaints here. a large wardrobe with ample coat hangers. For the females there is the all important vanity table and mirror with two and chair. The kitchen has a two ring hob and kettle and fridge. plenty of plates bowls and knife and forks. who eats in on holiday anyway... Bathroom has the usual shower toilet and sink nothing flash just the basics. rooms where cleaned every day by the two maria's who cleaned the rooms every day exept sunday and changed the bedding. they worked like troupers special mention to maria the more mature lady who was like a whirl wind. non stop. if you see her you will know what i mean. The pool area is well set out sun loungers spaced out with parasol and if you get two hot which in september it is the pool is nice and cool and refreshing. behind the pool bar you will find two people through the day. the first on the morning shift is Lilian whom we found to be one of the nicest people we have met. nothing was two much trouble. oh and the full breakfast was bullet proof as Dawn my partner would sat. two sausage two eggs two bacon and beans plus two toast and orange juice and a cup of tea for the bargin price of 6 euro. plus Lilians ice cream milkshakes are to die for. secondly you have dennis a great bloke again with a heart of gold again makes a cracking burger and disputed jokingly he made better milkshakes than Lilian this we never found out as we only tried Lilians on the last day. there was no pressure what so ever to buy from the pool just complete tranquility. out side the apartments you'll find well kept grounds always kept on top of. the main strip into Tingaki town is only a ten minuit walk with ample choice's to choose to eat. we ate either at the grande salle..george the owner is a legend a fantastic host who makes you feel welcome and makes a great stifardo. two places i must mention due to our frequent visits are...phivo's and anthina. these make the best gyro pittas you will ever eat. and just up the road is the bakery and cake shop. no name apparently because its just a family business. fantastic cakes. the beach is opposite the apartments. and the sea is warm and crystle clear. we loved it so much we are planning to return in may so i think thats more than a indication how good the apartments are. special menton to Lilian and her husband and Dennis who helped make this holiday as relaxing as it was. thanks very much Lee and Dawn room 31 :-)

We had a wonderful time at the Miros, the staff were all loveley, especially Lillian, Dennis, Judy and Mark, they made us all feel really welcom. The BBQ was especially good value for money and a great night.

The apartments are located right next to the beach and a 10 minute walk to all the main restaurants and bars.

We will definatley be going back.

My travel buddy and I stayed at this accommodation for 2 weeks in June and have to say it is some of the best we have ever experienced throughout the 20 odd years we have been travelling to the Greek Islands. The studios are reasonably spacious and are equipped with kettle, fridge and 2 cooking rings, the only things missing are a hairdryer and a shower head holder (which is not unusual in Greek bathrooms and I have now purchased a Shuc travel shower head holder, wonderful little invention). The views from the balcony’s take in the beach from one direction and the mountains from the other. The gardens are lovely and well maintained and the maid service is excellent. The pool bar is most accommodating in as much as they allowed us to share a breakfast, as with smallish appetites we couldn’t eat a whole one each. Both the pool bar and evening bar are run by English ex pats, who arrange a BBQ and quiz each Tuesday at a cost of 10 euros, not particularly good value in my opinion as it does not include the cost of any wine. If you are on a night flight you can keep the room on till around 7p.m. at a cost of 20 euros, safety deposit boxes are available for 10 euros a week, fans for 10 euros a week, not sure of the cost of air conditioning as we found we didn’t need it, they also have a large varied book exchange in the Reception area.

The nearest Supermarket is a 10 minute walk away as is the quite end of the beach, where it will cost 5 euros a day for 2 sun beds and a sunshade, there are also a couple of bars and tavernas in this area, we used Ifestos for our lunch each day and would highly recommend for lunch but not so much for evening meals. For our evenings we walked the 20 minutes to the main area of Tingaki which has numerous tavernas, restaurants and shops, our favourite was Spyros but they are all good in their own way, we paid between 22 to 30 euros for a shared starter, a main course each, ½ litre of house wine and a Mythos beer, the portions are enormous, so pretty good value. There is a very large supermarket right at the top of the main ‘strip’ that sells just about everything and although cheaper than the local supermarket, if you haven’t got transport is a long way to carry your shopping.

We booked a couple of trips through Theokritos travel, Caroline is most helpful with lots of local knowledge and enjoys a chat, can’t recommend her enough, they also give the best exchange rate. We went to Paradise beach for a day at a cost of 8 euros each, but the very best trip which everyone must do, is the Zia sunset trip at a cost of 6 euros each. They just take you to the village on the coach and leave you to have a little wonder, then you can find yourself a taverna with a roof terrace to watch the spectacular sunset, and I really do mean spectacular, best I have ever seen in Greece.

All in all we had a wonderful holiday and would certainly return to the Miros studios. Having travelled extensively throughout the Greek islands over many years, Kos is the friendliest place we have ever visited, even to the extent that the guy at the local Supermarket gave us a lift back to the Miros with our heavy shopping.

I hope this review helps anyone thinking of booking a trip to the Miros studios.
