My husband and our 11 year old twins have just spent a very happy and relaxing 2 weeks at the Kalloudis .
The hotel is far enough away from the noise of the bars in the town but not too far from the tavernas or the beach . The walk to the beach took no more than 10 mins and it was a flat walk and there was a footpath all the way.
The staff were all friendly despite the language barrier and the owner's daughter, who has the best english, is very chatty.
The rooms were spacious and cleaned every day except Sunday and the beds changed once during our stay.
The pool was very well maintained and every morning the owner could be seen removing leaves etc that had blown into the water as we had a few windy days whilst we were there.
There is no restaurant but there is a snack bar beside the pool where everything is made or cooked to order - we could not fault the food. It wasn't gourmet but ideal for our children.
We certainly felt very welcome whilst staying here and would not hesitate in booking again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a pool view as these face north and do not get any direct sun into them to heat...

I have just returned after spending two weeks at Kalloudis Hotel in Tigaki. I found the hotel to be clean and comfortable. Though on the main street it is not noisy, and the general traffic is very light. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

I take issue with some of the previous comments concerning the owner Adonis and his wife Irene. I found them to be very hospitable people as was the young lady who runs the snack bar at the pool. They were very sociable people and were a mine of local information. OK, so Adonis doesn't speak BBC English, but just ask yourself....How much Greek can you speak?

Close to the hotel are a good number of tavernas, specialising in all manner of Greek and Italian food, steaks etc. If you really MUST have Britfood there are burgers/fish fingers/liver and onions etc in some places. But do try the Greek food as it is very tasty.

The bars are varied, and there is live music on various days, both Greek and pop. The Rendezvous Bar has German/British/Italian/German satellite sports channels and a barmaid named Emma who has a smile that can sell a thousand pints of Mythos.

For anyone who wants a touch of luxury, there is a proper Hamam (Turkish bath) near the beach where you can get the full (proper) treatment including the oil massage. Didn't go myself, but a number of fellow tourists said it was wonderful.

The tourists of all nationalities were well behaved and I didn't see a single drunk in the whole 2 weeks, which is more than you can say for back home.

Room Tip: In August it is HOT so air-con is a sensible investment.

My husband, 16 year old daughter and myself have just returned from two weeks at Kalloudis Hotel, Tigkaki. I can honestly say it is one of the best holidays we have had. The hotel was modern and clean, the rooms were cleaned daily except Sunday and out sheets and towells were changed every 3 days. The owner, his wife and daughter and all of the cleaning staff were friendly and polite despite not speaking much English. Why do we expect them to speak fluent English when we are in their country! The pool was an excellent size, plenty of loungers and parasols and the pool bar menu was adequate, food well prepared and reasonably priced. The resort is small but there are plenty of bars, restaurants and supermarkets available to make for a very enjoyable stay. We will definitely be returning to Tigkaki, and Kalloudis Hotel

we returned from the kalloudis on the 10th august and what can i say other than it was brilliant! the apartments are clean and comfortable the pool is spotlessly clean we never saw one cockroach in two weeks which is a bonus :) we did have ants but in 45 + degrees what can you expect! as for previous comments about mr kalloudis all i can say is that he was totally lovely always pleasant even though he seemed to be working 18 hour days! all in all we would recommend the kalloudis and tingaki and eating out is a must ! if you go to the fountain at the bottom of the main street turn left walk past the massage place along the track towards the beach you will come to a taverna called ikaros the food and service was brilliant and out of 14 nights we ate here 9 times it was amazing !!!

We stayed at the Kalloudis Apartments 14th - 21st July (during a very high heatwave 45-47 degrees). Needless to say the air conditioning (35 euros for a week) was a must, just to be able to sleep at night! The apartment we stayed in was neutrally furnished and looked brand new. The kitchen was stocked well enough, but with plenty of restaurants 2 mins away we only really used the fridge, and only used the grill once! although we did not have a microwave, so if you like quick food, you would struggle. The beds were hard and we did not like it, but we have the softest mattress at home so no wonder. The view from the balcony was over the pool, which was very nice as during the day it was shaded from the sun and then on an evening the sun was cooler on our balcony. The bathroom consisted of a shower, toilet and sink, it was workable but could have been better if it was larger, just to stop water from the shower flooding the floor. We did meet some people who also had baths in their apartments, they weren't full baths but looked alot better than just a shower.
Everyone on tripadvisor seems to have slated the owners as miserable and unhelpful. Well when we checked in at 11:30pm he was very helpful, even when we went back an hour later to sort the air con out. He and his family were polite and friendly (with only the daughter speaking a lot of English). The owner did seem to change a bit about 4 days in to the holiday but still spoke. What you have to realise is this family (especially the owner and wife) are up at the crack of dawn and don't go to bed until the early hours of the next morning, could you do that in the highest temperatures Greece has seen in a while? I think the best tip to give you is to learn a little bit of Greek - even if it is just 'please' 'thank you' 'good morning' 'good night', everyone on the island of Kos does seem to know English, even if it is key phrases but they really appreciate you trying to speak a little Greek to them.
The pool at the apartments was lovely to swim in and had plenty of sunloungers, just a few extra parasols would have been good.
I have to say we loved our time at the apartments, but we are not the type of people to stay in them all day so only used them as a base and to swim in the pool. I would certainly recommend to stay at these apartments as they did seem to be along the better ones in Tingaki. Just be prepared to see a few ants in your room - but if you've ever travelled to hot countries you'll know this is pretty standard - just keep your plugs in the sinks when your not using them and then you'll not have a problem.
If you are going to be staying here, you'll have a good time - just remember you didn't pay for 5* apartments - you paid for 3* apartments and the travel agent takes a heafty cut of what you paid, so what you get is actually really adequate and well maintained.

Room Tip: Try and get a pool view room as you can't hear the main road from here. Plus it's probably t...

I stayed at Kalloudis for a week to 19th July with two family members. The hotel is very clean, tidy and offers the services which you would require for your stay. A safe is available for 25 Euros at the reception area, 25 Euros for the air-conditioning and there is a book area, near reception, should you run out of reading material. Having read the previous reviews, I can say that there was never any problems with communication with the owners or cleaner. English is not their first language (I was in Greece after all) and I don't speak Greek. Any issues or help needed from the owners was supplied without complaint and efficiently. The only problem we had, was ants in the room which you get at home and deal with! I would stay at the hotel again, it is centrally located within 5 minutes walk to the beach and the bus stop for Kos is immediately outside the hotel. I would recommend this hotel for a delightful, relaxing stay on a lovely Greek Island - with lovely Greek people!

We stayed at Kalloudis between Thursday 5th July and Thursday 12th July (the week just gone).

First impressions of Kalloudis; The outside looks very nice, especially compared to some of the other local hotels. When we walked in we were greeted by the owner, who was very short with us, spoke as few words as possible and gave us vague directions to our room. When we eventually found our room, it was lovely. The kitchen area is (appears to be) brand new, and the units and beds do too. The fridge is a full size fridge which was a nice surprise.

The balcony was fine. plenty of space, sturdy table and a couple of make shift washing lines for clothes.

The bathroom was also pretty good. We weren't a massive fan of the shower curtains - they looked a bit loppy, but not so bad that I felt I needed to go buy the bleach!

Moving on to our first night; I went to ask the owner for the air conditioning remote and he literally said two words; €35 and here. No please or thank you, no interaction at all. The air conditioning is a God send though, and I can highly recommend it. We wouldn't have been able to sleep without it and it's in top notch condition.

The next few days with regard to the hotel were uneventful, we saw the owner and his wife regularly and made an effort to say hello, as we always do when we're walking past. The best I managed to get in return was a grunt from him and a scowl from her.

On to the cleaning. The maid was the same person every day, and I can honestly say she is one of the rudest people I've ever met. They clearly recruit people similar to themselves. She came at different times every day, so inevitably no matter what times we came and went at, she always caught us either before we went out, or after we came back in for a rest. This in it's self isn't the problem, I didn't mind being interrupted by her in the slightest. Her attitude, scowls and clipped monosyllabic replies and general air of condescension almost won her a free gliding lesson... From the third floor balcony!

Also of note- our sheets were not changed once, and the towels were only changed on the fourth day. (Also only once).

The one shining star at this place is the young lady who works on the pool bar every day (I think it's the owner's daughter). She is genuinely one of the politest, most accommodating, friendly people I've ever met. If the rest of the family looked to her for their people skills and manners, this place would be the best place in Tigaki to stay.

Moving swiftly on from the staff, the pool is a nice size, there are plenty of sun loungers and we never had to hunt for a space or feel crowded. There was an average number of young children and a few older children, but also a lot of couples so there wasn't any kiddy rioting to be seen. Perfect. The food served by the above mentioned lady was fantastic and fairly priced.

On our fourth day, the bathroom window DROPPED OUT! Thankfully neither of us were in the shower at the time or we'd have been shredded. (see attached photo). This is, on inspection, something that's been coming for quite a long time. The window unit is made out of uPVC and is very sturdy, but the hinges had corroded and given way, meaning that when we shut the front door to leave for the day, the rush of air blew the window right off it's frame. Again, in usual style, he owners' wife dealt with us and was huffy, puffy and tried to insinuate that we'd left the balcony door open too and the wind had blown it out, and it was our fault! (Like it would have been even if we had?) But she accepted that the room was cold so we couldn't have had the balcony door open (AC only works when it's closed) and she saw the hinges.

We plodded along with no bathroom window for 36 hours, just the mozzie screen until we got randomly interrupted by the repair man. No advance notice... Should I have expected it with their manners? Ah well, it wasn't a problem, it's not like it's cold on a night :)

Also this hotel does not have safes in the rooms, they have small bank safe box style safes in reception.

Almost forgot... The beds are rock hard... Like concrete. Put one of the duvets from the cupboard under yourself and you should be ok though. Not ideal but much comfier.

Overall our experiance here was good, because the pool lady was amazing and the room was fantastic.

It could have been a lot better if the owner, his wife and the cleaner learned some manners and people skills though.

PRO'S:

Excellent pool service and bar
New modern rooms
Generally quite clean and tidy
Great AC
Perfect location

CON'S:

RUDE horrible owner, wife and cleaner
Watch out for the windows!!
No in-room-safe
Lack of fresh linnen and towels

To conclude, I would stay here again, but I'd be loathe to do so whilst the same people own it, unless they sort their manners and general attitude out.

(Two 26 year old men staying for a week).

Room Tip: Make sure you request a room on the second or third floor. The best rooms are Pool view rooms, and m...
