“Very pleasant stay at a family run hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2014

The stay at the hotel Fai Della Peganella was a wonderful experience where we were made to feel ver much at home with the hospitality of the hotel owner, Fausto and his Mother. The hotel is set in a beautiful part of the Adige Valley, high on the Paganella mountain, providing some stunning views down into into the valley. It was a perfect base for our daily coach trips out to all the local areas including a magnificent visit to the Dolomite mountain range and to the Lakes.
The hotel bedroom was very comfortable and apart from finding the bed a little hard for my taste provided adequate facilities for our stay. The food was home cooked style and was satisfying. The young girl providing the waitress service was charming and very efficient making sure all guests were well provided for. The style was very much Italian home cooking and although there were not choices it was made clear that if any of the guests did not like anything then the Chef would cook something else. The breakfast was of the continental style and perhaps the addition of croissants would have been welcomed.
Overall a very pleasant stay at a small family run hotel and one I would recommend to other people if they would like a good base to explore this beautiful area of Italy.

Arriving back in UK on 30th March,2014 after having had a wonderful holiday in the Dolomites. To those people looking @ this holiday I would say GO,as the hotel, excursions & drivers Mark & James are first class (Mr Ogden, you certainly have gems in the above drivers who are an asset to your company). The downside of the holiday is the long journey & I did not expect to trundle cases off the coach into the Ibis Hotel,Strasbourg for our overnight stay ( both ways) @ 23.10 hours (Mr Ogden take note) Remember, the age range on these holidays is mainly 60 - 80 years & should not be expected to contend with this. Having looked at the map would it not be an advantage to have an overnight stop in Metz which should allow for the 2 days travelling similar hours.

March 2014
We have just returned from a coach tour to the Dolomites with five nights at the Fai della Paganella. The trip was a great success, not least due to the quality of the hotel and the warm attention from all the staff.

It is a real family hotel with Fausto and his mother “Mamma di Fausto” heading the team. Fausto was always available, being very friendly and approachable. He speaks perfect English and is a fund of information on the local area and Italy in general.

It is clear that a lot of care has been taken with the modern facilities and the bar area and sitting rooms are very tastefully designed and furnished.

On such a coach tour we know that there will be certain restrictions on the menu, after all, we had not paid for a five star restaurant. However, there was a sufficiently wide choice of items for the buffet style breakfast, enough variety to suit everyone. The evening meal was always a delicious range of soup, pasta, a meat or fish dish, salad and a desert. Fausto did say that if anyone wanted something different they would make every effort to provide it.

It is evident that Fausto and his team enjoy giving pleasure to their guests, always friendly and approachable. We were exceptionally fortunate in having perfect weather for early spring, wall to wall sunshine, snow on the tops, rushing rivers and uncrowded towns. After each day touring the area we returned to the Fai della Paganella for a relaxing drink, a very pleasant meal and good company. A recipe for an excellent holiday.

We stayed here over Christmas on a coach trip with passenger ages ranging from thirties? to over 90 years of age.

Fausto and "Mamma" provide a wonderful stay and nothing is too much trouble as they are truly proud of the region and village where they live.

A typical example is that we had a wine tasting one afternoon which we thought would involved buying some. It included a talk on the vineyards, how the grapes are grown, processed and the wine aged, when one of our party asked to buy some Fausto said " I can find you one or two bottles but it's not for sale, we make it for the family but wanted to share it with you".

The food is plentiful, five course including the salad buffet and if the main course doesn't suit ( I don't eat fish ) there is always a second helping of the pasta course or the offer of an omelette and there is jug of wine on the table to boot, but unfortunately not the good stuff!.

The only downside was the Italian family from hell who came on Christmas Eve with three children that were were totally out of control and allowed to run riot in the bar by their parents although there is a a lovely children's room in the hotel with everything a child would like, happily they returned to Trento on Boxing Day!

All rooms have a good view, ours overlooked the mountain, and are well appointed although you need to provide your own shampoo and shower gel after the first day although I am sure more would have been provided if requested.

If anything our room was a little warm so we had to turn off the radiator in the evening but that was easily done

The village is quiet with a small Co-Op opposite should you need to buy anything such as olive oil to take home.

Lake Garda and Verona are within an hours drive down the mountain and ski resorts about ten minutes up the mountain, to which there seems to be a regular ski 'bus.

All in all a wonderful holiday a wonderful hotel, and wonderful peoplehope we can get ourselves back there again.

Room Tip: Our room was at the back and overlooked the mountain

We stayed at this hotel in october couldnt fault the food rooms and the owners absolutely fantastic thank you for fausto and his family. The only downside was the mercure hotel which was on route in strasborg. Although this didnt spoil our holiday which was organised by David Ogden coach holidays i am disappointed there has been no comeback from them as regards to this. Would definately return to the hotel paganella and the dolomites.

Visited this hotel in October 2013as part of a holiday organised by David Ogden coach holidays. The ONLY saving grace for this holiday was the hotel. Excellent in all respects. This is a family run hotel administered by a committed and caring family. Although there was limited choice re the menu the food was plenty full, well cooked and served. The owner , Fausto went out of his way to make sure that his clients were comfortable etc. Without this hotel the holiday would have been a disaster ( David Ogden please take note.)
I will return to this hotel in the future on a possible walking holiday in the spring or to ski in the winter.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the village. Superb views.

Fausto and his family offer a unique opportunity to stay in a beautifully renovated small hotel set in a friendly village in the Dolomites. The rooms are lovely, the views splendid and the hospitality marvellous.
Fausto's own wine is delicious and the food very good, including vegetables from his garden. One caveat: there is no choice of food, the experience is more like going to a friends home for dinner.
Wi fi available in the bar area.
We have never experienced such a warm welcome, or such friendly goodbyes, as those given to our party by Fausto and his mother, Mamma Gemma. Thank you so very much for a delightful stay.
