True Samaritans is the only way to describe Janet and Ross. We arrived, soaked to the skin on our tandem and we were welcomed with open arms, divested of our soaked and filthy clothing which was dried overnight, and made to feel completely at home.

What a lovely place to stay and ideally located within 100 yards of the Sustrans Lochs and Glens Route 7 which Janet and Ross have gone to the trouble of paying for and creating an access.

Thanks for a lovely stay. We will be back for longer.

A party of four of us stayed overnight at the self catering cottages when we were undertaking a bicycle ride from land's End to John O'Groats. We arranged the accommodation at short notice and did not arrive until 10 O'clock that night, neverthe less our hosts Janet and Ross were very welcoming. The four of us were tired and in need of food and rest having cycled 117 miles that day. Janet showed us around the accommodation, which was spotless and very well appointed, before kindly going into the local town to collect food for us. Secure storage for the bicycles was also provided as well as a good spread of food for breakfast, as we were leaving early to get back on the road. As we were undertaking the cycle ride on behalf of charity, Janet and Ross gave us a reduction in our bill - much appreciated.
We were very well looked after in this charming location, and I would have no hesitation in reccommending it as a place to stay. Many thanks.

Of all the hotels I stayed in during my ten-day holiday in Scotland, this was the best value. Though not a traditional B&B (the cottages are self-catering, meaning that each room has a kitchenette and you provide the food), I didn't miss the full Scottish breakfast provided by all the other hotels. After traveling from the US, this probably should have been my first stay because of its proximity to Glasgow Airport, making it a great place to decompress after the long flight. I don't know what the larger cottages look like, as I was put in the one for solo travelers, but my room was perfectly adequate. It had a bedroom and bath on the ground floor, and a kitchenette and sitting room on the second floor. The low cost makes it a great place to "headquarter" while taking day trips out to the other cities.

Travelled from Scottish borders up through Galloway area and on to Ayrshire through to Lochwinnoch. Not impressed with Ayr area - unattractive towns and villages - with lots of litter along roadsides and general feeling of neglect. However, East Lochhead B&B near the village of Lochwinnoch, just outside of Glasgow was a very nice B&B. The room was huge with sofa, big TV, view over the garden, big bathroom with bath and shower and overall comfort and ease. The garden is spectacular and we enjoyed looking at the rare Jacobs ram with his four horns in the adjacent paddock. The host was friendly and helpful, the breakfast hearty and varied with a good choice of foods. Good access to Glasgow airport. Highly recommended B&B - but surrounding area not that attractive.

My husband, 2 daughters, 18 & 14, and I stayed at East Lochhead B&B in late June for 4 nights and were very comfortable and happy with the service by the very friendly hosts, Janet & Ross. We had a beautiful large room overlooking their beauitiful garden and our daughters had a nice room upstairs with stunning views over the Loch. Breakfast was great, down to the flowers on the butter. They also did some washing for us for a small cost. Maybe you need to specify rooms when you make your booking. You can also book self-catering rooms there.
A great place for dinner in Lochwinnoch is The Hungry Monk pub.

  • Liked — Friendly hosts, lovely views, their dogs.
  • Disliked — Terrible shower like the rest of Scotland

After the wonderful write ups we had read this was a most dissapointing stay. The room was small, with the washbasin in the bedroom. Beware the evening meal - adequate but very, very overpriced. Breakfast was okay but again not the exceptional service that we were anticipating.
We wouldn't stay again, all in all very expensive and you do not get the personal attention and service that after reading the reviews you would expect.
