I found the hotel overpriced for what it offered. The cabins are musty and *extremely* rustic (pets are allowed in these cabins only for an additional $30). The renovated cabin closest to the main lodge is nice- but next to the septic. Smelly. Our room in the lodge was partially renovated. The bathroom had probably been done sometime in the 60s, but the rest of the room was nice. Food was average. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Both in trying to book (for a wedding) and also on a charge that showed up on our account when we tried to check out. The charge wasn't ours and they said they wouldn't bill us... but *surprise* they did. Called them and *surprise* still haven't gotten a refund. Overall experience... mediocre. Felt more like a 2.5 star motel. The consensus of the other family and friends who attended the wedding- they wouldn't go back either.

Perched on clifftops overlooking the Malaspina Straits, Rockwater's private tenthouse suites offer supreme luxury, Japanese style for that perfect, romantic weekend with your partner. Celebrate your wedding day or anniversary in pampered style with private dining on the deck of your suite, soak in a bath tub with a glass of champagne, or take a sunset stroll along the ramped treetop walkways and watch the wildlife.
The tenthouse suites are unlike any other as their steel cables grip them firmly to the mountain side, but their tentlike structures allow light and sound to filter through into a hushed interior, radiating simple elegance and offering that intimate love-nest amidst the trees!

We have just returned to the USA after a 3 night stay at the Rockwater Resort and hope you find this review helpful. There were several things we enjoyed about our stay: the views, the tent suites, the food, the location. However, we would never go back due to the poor service and lack of managment oversight. During our second night a wedding took place (which we were notified of in advance by phone and thought nothing of) until 11:00PM that evening when the wedding party returned. From 11:00PM until 4:00AM we didn't get a moments rest. We heard a bunch of drunken young adults yelling, arguing, swearing, listening to loud music, calling constantly for room service (more liquor) all within an ear shot of our tent. We called twice before someone was brave eough to come down and send a few of the drunkards packing. We weren't as upset about the wedding party as we were with the lack of management intervention. There were several times throughout the night we were concerned for our safety. The resort did comp the room for the night, only after our insistance. This was not what we had expected from a premium resort. How about moving us to another location? sending a bottle of wine? complimentary breakfast? lunch? dinner?
We searched high and low and planned this spectacular vacation for more than a year.....Canada rocked! The Rockwater Resort was a disaster.

We had a so-called honeymoon cabin. It was a cramped, smelly shed There was not enough room to have our two overnight bags in the room - we had to climb over these to get around the room. All other luggage had to stay in the car.
There was a constant smell of sewage and gurggling noise - worse when the shower was used. The shower was difficult to control - either scalding or freezing. The minibar smelt disgusting.

Stains on the carpet were disgusting and no heating in the small cramped bathroom. The net curtain over the door was grubby and stained. Holes in the mozzi mesh meant we were bothered by insects during the night.

The furniture was chipped and far too big for the room. When you moved a chair - the chair legs fell off. you couldn't sit indoors to view the ocean as the window sill was too high and the chairs too low. None of the furniture matched - it looks like a collection of yard sale rejects.
The bedding was too small for the bed - meaning it got rumpled up - causing a restless night. There was not enought room to walk down both sides of the bed - I had to climb in/out from the end of the bed.

Supper was good - but the food was spolit by the shabby dinning room and mismatched cheap cutlery. What's the point of baking fresh artisan bread and then stuffing it in a cheap plastic dirty bread basket?

We didn't think this was value for money and resented the $159 CAD - plus taxes etc. Dinner was $130 !! for two mains, 1 pudding, 1 bottle wine and 2 coffees is crazy.

My husband and I spent eight nights in a Tent House Suite. It was everything we'd hoped for - secluded (we had the top one at the end of the walkway), luxurious (I loved the hydrotherapy tub!!) and unique (who knew tenting could be so appealing!!). The views are amazing out to the ocean from the suite and around the property.

The staff was very accommodating. They booked a couple of rounds of golf for us, and had maps ready for us to find the golf courses when it was time to go. They arranged a ferry ride to the Provincial Park across the straight, and reservations for the ferry home. They checked into various local activities, made excellent recommendations for restaurants, and made arrangements for a romantic dinner on our veranda on the last evening.

One area for improvement was the bell-service. The Tent House Suites are a fair hike with luggage and when checking in they suggested we take it to our room ourselves or hesitatingly, "we could call someone to help you with your luggage, if you'd like". Not wanting to be a bother we toted it ourselves. Next time don't ask - have someone take luggage to the room.

Besides golf, we rented Sea Kayaks for a day, went swimming at a local lake and drove around the coast in search of different restaurants in the evenings - The Upper Deck was close by and was our favorite.

I would recommend this resort to anyone who wanted a romantic trip for two.

We were invited to a destination wedding at the Rockwater Resort and after looking at the web site decided to book a cabin for 2 nights. The price was not cheap - $256.00 incl. taxes per night so we expected something rather nice. The view was nice -
the room was NOT! The cabins are very old with little or no upgrading. The bathroom was so tiny it is a good thing neither of us was overweight or we would have been out of luck! The bathroom knob was very loose but that really didn't matter as the door was so warped it didn't close anyway! Carpets were dirty and bed was so-so. We will definitely not be returning and under no circumstance will we recommend this place. On the other hand, the wedding venue was beautiful with Howe Sound in the background and the staff were all very pleasant. Food at the wedding was very good - if our room had been better or even average we would have given this resort a rave review.
