“Wedding August 2012”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2013

This post is a bit late, but we had our wedding at Rockwater in mid-August 2012. It was truly the perfect venue for us, and we were very fortunate to get the booking due to a cancellation 8 months before our weekend.

Our wedding was planned by Ashley at Spread Love Events and she highly recommended this location. She was 100% correct because the weather in August was blue skies, mid 20's temp, shooting stars at night, and an extremely intimate venue. Sounds tacky to say but it really was a dream venue for us.

The natural beauty of the venue is obviously the best part of the resort as it creates a very West Coast feel, something that was important to us with international guests coming to the wedding. We stayed with our friends and family at Rockwater for the full weekend including a full resort bookout the day of the wedding. The bookout gave us the flexibility to have our party go late into the night, and there weren't any complaints from neighbors at other resorts as our party did go late into the night.

The staff at the resort were the next best thing. They helped us a lot with room juggling and Ivan/Rhian at the front counter helped us shift guest rooms numerous times throughout the weekend without any complaint. Everyone was super friendly and this helped us to make our weekend run very smoothly.

The food in the restaurant and during the wedding was very good, personal favorite being the crab cake eggs benedict in the mornings. Excellent!

Although some of the rooms were a bit dated in the cabins and lodges, none of the guests had any complaints at all as they are clean and the beautiful surroundings really make up for it. The tent rooms are spectacular, although quite pricey in the summer. Is it worth it? I think so, because waking up in the morning to the sound of waves is beautiful.

Guests had a lot to do during their free time with kayaking at the resort seeming to be the highlight. Sitting under the stars at night with friends looking at the shooting stars were memorable as well.

One complaint would be the fire pit...We planned to do a campfire one night, but it was right near the septic tank which ended the fire pit experience in about 15min...

All in all, we love our experience at Rockwater and there is no other place we would have liked to do our wedding. Great location, great staff, and great memories.

Thank you to everyone at Rockwater for the wonderful day and Spread Love Events for helping us get the most out of the location with your ideas and design.

D & A

Room Tip: The Kitty Hawk Tent was a bit far to walk but worth it when we got there!

Stayed in one of the tent house suites for a few day and it was so romantic and peaceful. We were given the furthest tent house and the view was amazing! Although this place is on the pricey side, I would still highly recommend it to anyone looking for a weekend getaway or couples wanting some romantic alone time. There are quite a few trails around the resort too that we checked out. Also, the food at the restaurant was quite good and we thoroughly enjoyed the dinner menu. Since we rented a car we drove around to nearby restaurants for breakfast and lunch and also went to the Painted Boat for dinner which was great.

All in all, this place is great and management is friendly and helpful.

My husband and I enjoyed a 2 day stay in our luxury oceanfront tent with heated floors and patio overlooking the ocean. All the comforts of home, except solid walls.Mind you ,it's not for the faint of heart, but it was private and offered spectacular views. We enjoyed fabulous meals in the dining room and a couple's massage in another private oceanfront tent. How can you not relax when the sound of the waves lull you? If you are seeking a unique get away this is it.By day, explore the Sunshine Coast of BC.

Room Tip: pay the extra for a luxury tent, rather than staying in the hotel. well worth the extra.

The travel time and terrain may not be the best but once you get into the resort rooms, you are bound to forget everything and enjoy the ambiance, view, food, togetherness. Its one of the best places that I have been to . Though the tent room as expensive but the money spend is worthwhile. The tents are no less than any good luxury five start hotel rooms and has very romantic feel to it.We were not too sure when we took the trip but once there , it was wow!Highly recommended! we traveled there in late 2010.

We had a weekend getaway to stay at the ultra fabulous Secret Cove. They were voted as one of the most romantic spots in Canada. Seeing it is believing it. It is well worth the trip. The sunrise/sunset view overlooking the water. The open/close tent for massage treatments. The fabulous treatments from Mr Z. Thank you to Mr Z and the two lovely servers from the restaurant.

Room Tip: Tent suites is all you need to pick!

Beauty abounds .. lots of nature and nurture.
Restaurant lacks character and the food is overpriced for the quality.
Some of the staff was wonderful...others were in sacrifice... just doing a job for the money, which hopefully reflects the high rates to the public...not slave labor.
No special indulgences on or for my birthday...like flowers on the tray, candle in the slice of cake.
And to pay $3-600/night for a glorified tent is absurd.. as lovely as they are .. they are still canvas and with negative temperatures, they were not heating up with gas f/p and 2 heaters..we finally asked for an extra heater on the 2nd morning.
Breakfast in bed was wonderful and the couples bliss massage OK, but only 55 minutes long and she didn't touch my solar plexus or chest...that's where i need it the most...my stomach and heart chakra.. assuming this is a policy of the spa...its not my policy... Laurie and Cheryl were awesome!
