“Dinner on the deck with a view towards the sunset”

Excellent seafood, especially the halibut, but delicious lamb shank for the meat eater. Good choice of wines, especially bc wines. Warm throws to counteract the September evening coolness. Reasonable prices

“Could be better...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2013

We tried this restaurant a few years back, on the night the previous chef owner was about to retire. It had an excellent reputation, and we were not disappointed. Since then I have been curious to see who took it over, so we tried it again about two weeks ago. These were our impressions. Understand, this location is part of a marina, with a laid back attitude, but still a rather high- end clientele. Having said that, I found the service ever-so-slightly snotty. Contrast this with some rather unprofessional practices...i.e the chef walking around in her shorts, the dishwasher coming into the dining room (on his break) with a plate piled high with food, fishing around for cutlery in the buffet, then shovelling food into his mouth as he walked through the dining room. The food? Quite good, although a bit cooled off. I had the scallops, my husband the pork tenderloin. We both liked what we had, but for us dining is a whole experience. We love this area, but would probably check out a few other places before coming back to the Upper Deck.

“Nice view”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013 via mobile

It's a nice little restaurant with a view of secret cove. The food is a bit pricey for what you get, but i guess it's the view you pay for, and if you're moored in the marina there's not a lot of options.
The manager was friendly and outgoing, but I think our server was new. She seemed a bit nervous, and she spilled half the martini after she poured it in to the glass.
Dinner for 3 with 2 drinks came out to $120 plus tip. Here's a tip, watch out for the water glass when serving a martini.

“Pretentious”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2013

Food not too bad but very expensive in relation to portion size - Vancouver prices. View is ok but summer sun beats into west facing cafe (no shades) making it very hot. Proseco served in red wine glasses!

Staff did provide free desert after complaint about portion size.

“one of our favorities”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 17, 2013

only open in the spring til fall, this restaurant on a boat has the best atmosphere, never mind great food! owners take off to Mexico each winter where i believe they also own a restaurant. Comes back each spring/summer (thank goodness) to shower us with delicious new dishes. Never disappoints.
