“Nice lumbung in a strange location”
Reviewed December 30, 2013

Stayed for 4 nights in Omah in september and whilst we enjoyed our stay we were a little disappointed. Maybe we'd not looked properly but i had imagined from the pictures quite a substantial pool set in garden settings which i guess it is but really its a very small pool only suitable to kids (which it was usually full of) and is located right in front of reception so had an odd feel to it and we never felt able to use it. The staff during our stay were fantastic and the young lad who checked us it was so friendly even despite the mix up on our remaining payments which eventually got sorted. Breakfast was really lovely but it would have been nice to have listened to something other than whitney houston at full volume each day and as our lumbung was very near the breakfast area we were woken up by her every day which became annoying by day.... er two really! Choice and quality of lunch was good tho as was the lumbungs which were huge and lovely decorated. Certainly could do with somewhere to hang clothes as everything was out in the open on shelves which made the place look a mess and meant everything was always creased which wasn't a biggy.. .Nice to have a safe and i loved the bathroom and looking at the stars when nipping for a night-time visit. Wouldn't be so nice if raining tho. Omah gili is located down a very dark, narrow and dirty alleyway which i wouldn't fancy doing alone and was a little miserable to do each day... I had hoped it would mean it would be peaceful but the first night there was a beach party and the music went on until 5am meaning the boom boom sound was probably heard everywhere - just wish i'd known and had some ear plugs. the next night it went on until 1am and the other 2 nights we were luckily let off. That aside the location of this is so near to the best part of the beach on gili air so great to get a good beach spot and enjoy what gili is all about ... the beautiful sea, sand and sunshine! it is a special place... anything missing... free bikes to use would be great assett to this little place as the island is bigger than you think! all in all great spot tho... if i returned i'd probably prefer to have a sea view and would probably wander around and haggle to get something with everything i like.

Room Tip: upgrade to the lumbungs as although i never saw the others the difference was minimmal and they were...

Stayed in the hotel for 3 nights in mid December. This is a low tourist period so it was quite easy to find accommodation that suited our needs. We (me and my friend) checked 4 other hotels before finding this calm place just a short walk away from the busy front-beach “street”. Tip for those travelling in low season : don’t book whatsoever in advance, you can get a great discount if negotiate just a bit!
The place was quiet, no noise, the pool was empty all the time. Again this might be due to the low season, for the ocean and all bars were empty as well.
The bungalows are lovely and made in a traditional way, a wooden roof and a small loft upstairs with additional bed. The Lumbung room had a safe, a fan and aircon, a big comfortable bed with nice pillows, 2 chairs and a luggage rack. However no wardrobe or a rack for clothes, which is really inconvenient especially for girls! And yes, you have to get outside of bungalow and closer to the breakfast room if you need wi-fi…The bathroom is completely outdoor with the shower right under the sky which might look cute but no way to go to the bathroom under the cold mighty rain we had one night!
No fridge and no tv in the room, but no need for these since there are plenty bars (with tv) with excellent fresh fish bbq all around the island!
Staff were very friendly, however as someone noticed the lady at reception did not look too much enthusiastic. The room is proper and cleaned on a daily basis, and overall the place is nice and very well located. If you don’t need something special but just a nice quiet stay then this is your place! Excellent value for money and by the way one of the best spots for snorkel is just facing the alley you take to go to the hotel!

I have stayed at Omah Gili twice. I choose this place it's near to the beach and it't not directly in front of the beach, so I will have quietness I seek for. On my first visit I stayed in Gladak room. The room is a bungalow type with a balcony where you can spend time reading your book and having a breeze of fresh air. The room was tidy, they clean it up everyday, kind-sized bed, and they have opened roof bathroom where you can see the skies; it was a nice concept.

As I have good experience to stay in Omah Gili, on my second visit to Gili Air, I booked for Gladak room. When I got there, the owner offer me to stay in Limas, bigger room than Gladak with no upgrade cost. I was grateful and surprise! Limas is a Javanese house type where you have your own mini living room, bigger balcony, king-sized bed, and opened roof bathroom similar to Gladak. You have another big living room, outside your room, this is perfect for families!

When you’re lucky you’ll get a chance to experience their meditation class, it was held by a well-known meditation instructor from Jakarta.

Its staff are very friendly, on one afternoon after my dive, they offered me fried noodles with eggs on the house, that was really nice of them, and breakfast also very nice, they offered free flow Lombok coffee which was tasteful, and much better than Starbucks!

this place is very cool. all rooms are 100% made from natural resources such as wood, bamboo, open air bath room, etc, made you feel like you're going to nature again.
very comfort with warm hospitality, it's suitable for us who want to break a moment from our daily activities, relax, and enjoying the live.

We stayed at Omah Gili in April 2013 and it was great. My friend hurt her toe while stepping out of the boat and the hotel owner gave her first aid medicine The staff are very friendly. They gave us tips on diving and other activities to do on the island. The hotel location is just steps away from the beach. I'm excited to come back next month :)

I don't really have anything bad to say about this place, it was just OK. Nothing really standout. A little pool and lumbungs with a little upstairs bed for a 3rd person. An outside shower and toilet. Salt water (standard for the island I think). The lady at reception wasn't hugely enthusiastic. We chose here because the other places wee looked at were full or crappy looking and the cidomo driver was getting impatient!

We only stayed one night on Air and moved to Meno for some RnR away from the semi-plasticness of this island.

We read a lot of nice reviews about this place which made us particularly disappointed about it.
The first thing you see when you get there is a dirty small pool. The pool is not needed, there's a beautiful see a couple of meters away. So if you can't keep it clean, just skip it!
All the lumbung bungalows were full at check in so we had booked another room for 2 nights. That was really not what we expected. Giant house with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms no decoration, no place to store your clothes, bathroom ok, but not good. Since we were quite disappointed we went around in the island and it didn't take long to realize that for the same price or cheaper we could have been getting a nice bungalow right at the beachfront. We went back and asked the staff if by any chance we could shorten our stay (since we had booked 5 nights) but the answer was short and fast: no refund.
The second day we moved to lumbung bungalow wich was much nicer that the first big room, yet still laking storage. The outside bathroom could be really nice. It's made in a nice way with some small black stones at the floor that gives it a spa feeling, BUT, probably hard to clean. There were old cotton buds and other crap among the stones and all of it stayed there until our departure. Once again: if you can't keep it clean, skip it.
Some of the staff tried quite hard to please us, but still, one day we had a problem with the safe. We told the receptionist. He sad he'd fixe it. We waited, and waited, and waited till we went to check how it was going, and he just said he forgot!
All of this (and some other) details made us quite disappointed and from what we checked you can get a lot better for this price. If it's not high season (like it was not in october) we would recommend you to just go to the island, start walking up the east coast and you'll find something good!
