I liked this hotel. It has a great personality . Its different and quirky but comfortable . The breakfast was big and so good. the owner is excellent, they do such a good job. You feel they are passionate about what they do. It feels homy. Recommended.

We loved this place. It's undoubtedly kitsch and quirky but it is also in a beautiful location and has lovely rooms - we particularly liked the outdoor shower in our ensuite!

We did have a few issues with power cuts but the owners were very helpful so it didn't spoil anything.

Great cocktails too, and a perfect place to watch the sunset on this little piece of paradise!

You DO need to recalibrate your expectations a bit when you stay on one of the Gili islands, but Villa Casa Mio manages to appear rustic while also pulling off very cool. This is helped by Tanya, the Manager, who is cheerful, helpful and professional. From breakfast on one of the beachside cabanas to the horse ride back to the jetty, they add a touch of Ibiza/Greek Islands to this beautiful part of Indonesia

If you are immobile however then there ARE spots closer to what passes as a 'centre' of Gili Air, so bear that in mind. It's a 10 minute walk along a mostly hard-packed sandy lane - easy if mobile, difficult if not. Not a gripe: just an observation

We stayed for 3 days at casa mio and it was really good. The hotel is very cute with lots and lots of nice touches and excellent decor. Our room was the sea breeze cottage which was at the bottom of the hotel and felt like the ugly child and I wish we had stayed in one of the larger cottages (there are only 4 in total) but they were fully booked.

The service in the hotel was extremely attentive and the manager was very helpful and nice, always making sure we wee enjoying our stay. The pool is a bit small but its fresh water, which is a rarety in the island, but it was very good to relax after a hot day. The restaurant area is beautiful with lots of lfunky and relaxing seats and the whole place is a bliss.

The location was not great, if you want to stay near the action in the island i would suggest the other side close to chillout bar - where the beach is also better as the beach in front of the hotel not great as its in front of a bay enclosed by a reef so its very very shallow and lots of corals. Getting around in horse carts is also not very cheap - min 50000 RP which is a lot for a 5 min horse cart ride.

overall the staff were very attentive and they even gave us a good bye cocktail on our last day. The food at dinner wasnt the best I've had and a bit pricey so we ate in other places most of the time, the breakfast in the other hand was really good and plentiful - they have a waffle machine and they were awesome.

Great place for a relaxing holiday!

Room Tip: try and stay in the bigger cottages as the ocean breeze is a bit small and a bit of a let down compa...

We stayed at Casa Mio for 2 nights. This is what I consider one of the best accommodation I ever experienced. The location is superb (on the beach). The bungalows, as well as the "reception / restaurant" are are quite charming, colourful and with an "Indie" touch which make them special. This place is elegance not based on luxury but on the artistic personal touch of the owner. The place also has cabanas on the beach and a restaurant / dining area which is definitely the best on the island for chill out and relax. Richard (the owner) as well as the staff are all super friendly. I would be able to spend a month here and feel like at home. I'm not able to think about any cons. Small suggestion: when you arrive at Gili Air by boat, don't pick the horse to reach Casa Mio unless you are with really heavy trolley. If you have a backpack, Casa Mio is a 10min walk from the harbour (not worth paying the horse)

Room Tip: All 4 bungalows are good. Nothing to worry

We stayed at Casa Mio for 2 nights at the end of May 2013. From the moment we stopped to have a look at the rooms we were made to feel welcome and part of Richards family. The hotel is small amd private with its focus on eco friendly procedures, clenliness, freshness of food and best of all FRESH GROUND COFFEE!!! The atmosphere was always relaxed, the staff were very attentive and friendly and the grounds and rooms were kept perfect. We stayed in the small room up the back of the hotel, it is a little smaller...but more private than the main villas so it was perfect for us. All rooms had all the mod cons you would need including a large fridge to keep your drinks cold. The dinners we had in the restaurant were fantastic, the breakfast was more than we needed and as I said the coffee was great!!! All the hotel staff deserve a mention, they were very helpfull, sweet and attentive, espesially Ata, what a cool dude!! We would love to return one day to this stunning gem on Gili Air...the island of freedom and paradise. We took lots of pics but unfortunatly left our camera in the taxi on the way to the airport. ;(

Fantastic place on Gili Air. Owner and staff couldn't have been more welcoming, helpful and friendly. A great spot, away from the hustle and bustle of the main "tourist area" but only a short walk away. Lovely villas, incredibly spacious and really well looked after. Nice little pool and great open air sea view 'huts/beds' for whiling away the hours. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: Choose the 'Ocean of Love' villa!
