This was a beautiful hotel. It was a bit on the expensive side for the amenities we received. The room was clean and the service was great. The showers and sink run saltwater with a small cup to use with fresh water to rinse. The pools are great. Wifi was off and on and not terribly reliable. We changed rooms on the last day, the villa was amazing with a private pool. The villa is the way to go!

Gili and Villa Ombak is the best recollecion of mine from Indonesia. Despite of lack of fresh water, Gili is very attractive island without cars, scooters, motorcycles... Villa Ombak is in perfect location, claean, nice and artistic.

Room Tip: Deluxe Ombak cottages have a larger bedrooms (but even too small).

We went to Vila Ombak on our honeymoon and we took the 3 day 4 nights Honeymoon package from the Villa. We stayed in Lumbung Cottage..the package itself is very complete which includes special decoration on the Cottage, free choco cake, dinner by the beach, spa treatments which is amazing, island hopping, island tour by horse cart and water activities. The package itself realy get use engage with the island and really spot-on area which needs to be explore.
But the best way to explore the island in riding bicycle..note that no motorcycle in the island..which is great!!!
The food in the Vila was average but no need to worry because you'll have plenty of choice of restaurants whithin the Gili island.
The Villa itself located just-in the border of the "party-hard" area and the "quite" area which is really great..so we can have a quality of sleep.
What really impressed us, was how close the beach is from the Villa..so you can have it at all time.
We'll sure come again to the Villa next time :)

We stayed here 15 years ago and of course it has all changed since then. It reminds me very much of Phi Phi Island in Thailand now - at least before the tsunami ( haven't been there since). Gili T as they call it is a slice of heaven if you like sitting at lunch table, toes digging into white sand, staring at the bluest of blue waters and sipping on a cold bintang or fresh juice.

No cars - just cidomos - horse drawn carts which take you anywhere on the island. As for the Vila Ombak - it used to be the only 4 star hotel and now there are several options worth exploring.
Also check out the family room with private pool at Beach House and the KoKoMo rooms if you like your creature comforts.

Vila Ombak:
ROOMS: Our Beach Front Villa was goven to someone else despite us comfirming several times. To make good they gave us a private villa room with its own pool - that I never would have spent the money on but loved! The boys (9 & 12) discovered skinny-dipping and rarely left the private pool! The room itself was lovely . Clean, new, great aircon, outside bathroom with frangipanis growing right next to the shower. For a bunch of good ecol-sound reasons, the hotel chooses to have cold salt water showers , which are just fine in this heat, and you can ladle fresh water from the supplied urn over you afterwards to get rid of the salt on your skin. We had a gi-normous bed and a huge day bed inside which the kids shared happily.

POOL: There are two public ones as well as the private villa ones. The public one on the beach has a bar and a great view of the beach. It gets a bit crowded during the day though.

LOCATION: Excellent. Away from the main dive activity and the bass-thumping bars, but just a few metres from great restaurants and a 10 min walk to the heart of the village, past all the restos and shops that line the dirt road around the island.

VALUE: Probably a bit expensive now compare to places like the Beach House which offered a similar room for about $130 AUD compared to ours which was nearly $275 AUD for 4, per night.

BREAKFAST: Excellent, all the usual treats. They did struggle on Xmas day though, most hotels do.

Overall - Gili T is a wonderful experience - a real island paradise for those not worried about a bit of salt and sand in their shoes, and possibly their sheets if you have young kids!. Vila OMbak is still a top hotel here, but it needs to re-proce to stay competitive I think.

Room Tip: Rooms back a bit from the beach will be quieter. If you can afford a pool vila, it's a an afford...

We enjoyed the speed boat over from Lombok and reception was excellent
Hotel room was good as was the staff and hotel grounds.
We stayed 4 days
However both myself and wife got violently ill different days (daughter thankfully didn't) and up until that time had only eaten in the hotel restaurant so extremely disappointed an experience that pretty well wrecked our stay. We have been visiting Bali for years and haven't had an experience like it before.

We wont be going back unfortunately as the location is quite exceptional.

I visited this place on June 2011, spent 3 days there. We choosed this place for our honeymoon and i think this is one of the best places i have ever stayed. The room (lumbung room) was very nice, large bedroom and mattress. The bathroom was located outside the building, and it was an open space with fresh water provided for shower (in this island, fresh water is still delivered from Lombok mainland). Downstair (the lumbung room has 2 sections, upstair and downstair) has a big mattress as well, place where you can have a quick nap. We also enjoyed their spa treatment for couple, which was very good (i was almost fall asleep). Candle light dinner was also fantastic, we had the perfect spot to enjoy the sea vie from the second floor of the restaurant. All the staffs are very friendly. What i really like about this place is, it is located in front of the beach and loads of restaurants / bars nearby. Very strategic. Yet, you it was very quiet when you stayed at the room. I think I will be back again soon :)

We stayed in one of the beach cottages and this is one of the only hotels on the island that is based on the beach - our view from room 101 was fantastic and we enjoyed watching people taking pictures of or cottage and view.
It was a lot to pay and the breakfast set up could be improved. It sadly feels that the attention to detail is starting to disappear at what is certainly one of the best hotels on this small island. oveall we would recommend.
