This hotel is wonderful, the staff are friendly, the location is great and the rooms are clean. The hotel is on the main side of the island but far enogh away from the main strip that you can sleep well.

This place was nice enough. Rooms were clean and spacious and looked quite funky from the outside, disguised to make them look like bamboo bungalows. There are tables and chairs and sun loungers on the beach on the beach in front, but the beach isn't really all that wide. There also have there own small bar area on the beach. They are a short 10 min walk from the main bars. There was nothing really spectacular about this place though, no one really went that extra mile to help out or be nice, and they charge for bike rental which I think should be free for guests, and wifi didn't work in the rooms.

My son had recommended this hotel and I wasn't disappointed. The location is a 15 minute walk from the harbour and market, or a 3 minute ride on one of their bikes, so not at the centre of the action - perfect for a quiet, relaxing stay and really not far to stroll into 'town'. Rooms are very well appointed, beds very comfortable, everything you could want is there. The aircon is very effective if you need to cool off and makes sleeping really good. Breakfast is across the 'road' under the ubiquitous bamboo canopy and right next to their beach, excellent quality and served by one of their delightful staff - the fruit platter is amazing. You can snorkel straight off the beach here and be over the coral looking for turtles (I spotted one first day and swam with it for a minute). I flew to Lombok, the hotel booked a taxi and fast boat transfer for about £60 total - just e-mail and pay with your final bill, it really was so convenient that the boat dropped us at their beach - having taken our cases in to the hotel first of course - and we were greeted with a lovely glass of cold fruitjuice. The pool isn't used much but is really nice for a cool swim any time of day.
Unless you want to be right in the middle then this hotel is perfect, the staff amazingly friendly and helpful, the position superb and the quality belies its inexpensive price. I highly commend it and will certainly go back there myself.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are the same, beautifully clean and well insulated against noise - not that there i...

Brand new facilites, beautiful and calm part of the beach, nice bar and sunchairs, very goog swimming pool, wonderful room, lovely staff, good wifi, far enough from the island center to have some rest and close enough to walking whenever you want to.
Food is just good.

Pros:
Fantastic value and quality of room. V. Clean room. Spacious too. Good breakfast- plentiful. Omelette was a raw in the middle a couple of times. Most of the staff are friendly.
Location is 7mins walk from the buzz so it benefits from being accessible but quiet.

Cons:
Dark- the main lights in the rooms dont work due to some electric works that need doing.
Wifi does not work in the rooms unfortunately so you need to get it in the lobby/restaurant.
Beach towels were grubby.

We arrived at the harbor via fast boat from Padangbai and learned that Vamana was about a kilometer north. So we took a horse cart for $5 to the hotel lobby, where we were warmly greeted by the staff with a welcome drink. Our paperwork was already in order, so check in took all of 2 minutes.

We loved the location - just outside the thick of the mid town traffic and noise, but still a very convenient walk to dozens of restaurants and pubs, and especially that it was far enough away from the mosque that we never heard any blaring inside the room, not once in three nights.

The hotel is beautiful. The hallway of bamboo patios outside each room add shade and a measure of privacy for guests. We loved the glass wall to the patio ... opens up the room and makes everything seem larger.

The king bed was fantastic, comfortable, firm, and the pillows were large and plump.
Lighting could have been a little brighter - it was difficult to see well enough to read or put on make-up.

The shower room is awesome - great showerhead, plenty of pressure and hot water. Toiletries include soap, shampoo, body lotion, toothbrush, Q-Tips, combs, etc. But no body wash or conditioner, so bring your own. Towels are enormous and thick, but no washcloths or hand towels are provided ... just one bath towel per person and a shower towel for the floor. Use the floor towel - it's extremely slippery stepping out of the shower onto the tiles, and I went sprawling.

The toilet room had a bit of a sewer odor to it, and I realized immediately that it was coming from the drain in the floor. So I folded up the shower towel and covered the drain - end of smell for the rest of our stay.

We had a teeny problem one morning with ants, after Hubby had spilled sugar on the counter the previous evening and didn't wipe it up. But I sprayed with lemongrass, and that took care of that - no more ant problem.

The flat screen TV gets only ten channels, and only two of them are western style TV, but who goes to Gili T to watch TV? Our remote wasn't working the first night, but Hubby asked the housekeeper for a battery the next morning, and the problem was solved.

There's free wi-fi in the lobby and at the beach in the hotel's restaurant, but no availability in the rooms. The signal was fine.

The pool is gorgeous, and the water temperature is heavenly. It's open 24 hours and is lit at night, so we took advantage of night swims more than once. The lobby provides great big towels for the pool, so you don't have to use the towels from your room. The pool is so much nicer than those of similar hotels in that it doesn't abut the street, in broad view of hundreds of bypassers. Vamana's pool is set far back from the street, behind the lobby, so it's totally private. Had we chosen a different hotel, I'd have refused to use the pool for lack of privacy. Who wants pedestrians gawking while you swim.

You can rent bicycles at the lobby for $5 per 24 hours if you want to venture farther than a few blocks north or south of the hotel. The entire island takes maybe two hours to circle on a bike. I love that there are no motorized vehicles on Gili T ... just horse carts and bicycles.

Our one disappointment with Vamana was breakfast. Balinese coffee might as well be called mud, and the other option, Nescafe, is instant coffee, which never stayed hot. So there's no way to get a decent cup of coffee (nowhere on the entire island, as far as I know.)

The same three breakfast entrees were offered every day:

1) eggs, bacon or chicken sausage, toast and fresh fruit
2) dry cereal, meat, toast and fresh fruit
3) local noodle dish, meat, and fresh fruit

The fruit bowl was never served cold. It was always warm like it had been sitting out all morning. There was no option for toast except white bread, which was bad. Cold, pasty, and not at all toasted to a crisp. Served with unsalted butter and Smuckers jelly (full of sugar). The orange juice was like orange-ade ... also heavily laden with sugar.

Since breakfast was included in the price of the hotel, we made the best of it and ordered the eggs every day. And it certainly wouldn't stop me from staying at Vamana in the future.
Everything else about our stay was lovely, and I definitely recommend this beautiful facilty.

We stayed on Gili T for 5nights at various different places but vanama was the best by far. The cleanest, best location & value for money. With the friendliest honest and most helpful staff. Would highly recommend!
