The place is off the main strip, about 8 minutes' walk from Manta Dive, away from the noise and hassle (maybe 400 meters?). That's the good thing. The bad thing is that when it's pouring rain, all the dirt streets get a bit flooded so sometimes you must be careful where you step (if you're not using a bike hehe).
I loved the place. It's still new, very simple, and well managed. There was no TV in our room but we didn't need one. A safe would have been nice. Nights get hot but we didn't encounter mosquito problems (nets would be a nice add on as well)/ Only three people were taking care of it during our stay (plus the cook) so be a bit patient if you need something or need a pick up. One night it was really pouring rain so it was impossible to get out of our place but we managed to order pizza by phone and one staff kindly fetched them for us. Really thankful for that. It it ever happens to you, ask for the pizzeria, it was surprisingly good!
Price fair, paid about 30 euros per night.

PS: sometimes some water problems but just let them know and they'll help

We stayed here for three nights in early Jan 2014. We saw Basile on our arrival to gili Trawangan at manta dive and was guided to the hotel by Rozy. The place was about fifteen minutes walk from the beach. We didn't mind that since we got to see how the locals live. The rooms are big with outdoor shower. One side of the bed creaked badly during the night. I didn't mind the call to prayer as it was not loud and really part of the culture of gili t. Overall we had a good stay being our first time in the island. Breakfast was nice. thanks to the staff and Basile.

We stayed here for our stay on Gili T Island. I liked that this place was very simple and basic. They had the important things like a bathroom(outdoor), a/c, breakfast and bike rentals. Other than that, you should go to a resort like place. But we didn't mind. The island is a very simple place so these cottages fit right in. It is about 15 mins walking to the beach- it does get dark at night so take a flash light with you. When we arrived from the port, if you ask people where the hotel is no one really wants to tell you so we ended up having to take one of the horse carriages there and they charged ~50,000. You can arrange for the hotel to pick you up- or show you how to get there, but nothing really has street signs.. so its difficult. The breakfast was nice and simple and the staff speak some english - enough to get by. The only concern is to make sure you let them know if you want to rent a bike so they can reserve one for you. There are 5 cottages- very small place. The location is very green and lush though - like living in a garden. Close to nature also, so close a cockroach was climbing/flying on the roof and fell onto my bed/pillow. :(
Other than that it was a simple stay and price was good for the stay.

Room Tip: They're all pretty much the same except for the ones with the lofts.

We stayed for one night and rocked up to our room not being ready! They weren't very polite and to top it off we believe stuff to be stolen and when confronted seemed very dodgey and quilty! And made no effort to help! I'm well travelled and un sure how this place got good reviews

It's been 12 months since I stayed at Cotton Tree Cottages. It's even better than the last time.

As it was newly opened on my first trip, the managers have made some small changes that make all the difference to the traveller.

Bikes are for rent (crazy cheap) to get around. Torches for night time as the street lighting on the island is not fantastic. Beach towels on offer. Umbrellas. You name it, they have thought of it to make your stay very comfortable.

The options for breakfast are terrific and food or snacks throughout the day can be made on order.

The rooms are still like new and very well built. Very clean and the staff try very hard to please and get it right.

Loved my visit again Basile and staff for my third trip to your bungalows.
I'll be back. See you all soon.

we stayed here for 3 days. they have only five bungalow-type room with 2 family and 3 standard rooms. we stayed at standard room with extra bed. Apparently it is privately owned with several staff only, when we arrived there's no body at the front.

After we checked in, the standard room was spacious. the bathroom's design is very unique -without roof and also very spacious. for the extra bed, they give us discounted price - 50%..very happy :) what best from this cottages is their breakfast. We taste two of the menu; American breakfast and fried rice and both of them tasted good. for recommendation, you need to order this food very early because ussualy only one guy work at the moment. He did all the stuff, making breakfast, check-in customer, handling laundry and etc. So be patient

for the lenght from the jetty harbour, it took like 10 mins for us to walk here. So, conclude your self.

Oh, they have the real cotton tree and we loved it.

Overall, we are very satisfied with this cottage.

Room Tip: if you bring luggage, its a bit hard to stay in this room. you could use local transport, they calle...

So many of the places to stay on Gili T are completely run down or very expensive. Cotton Tree Cottages was reasonably priced and gorgeous! The cottages are less than a year old so everything looks new. The bathroom is outdoor but well maintained. It was about a 10 minute walk to the main strip on Gili T but it wasn't an issue...Gili T is type of place where you are so relaxed you don't even notice these things.

Also a HUGE bonus is that their breakfast is actually GOOD. We've stayed at so many places that include breakfast that is barely edible. We had muesli and Twinings Tea every morning and it was fantastic.

Would ONLY stay at Cotton Tree when we return to Gili T!
