“Perfect for entertaining groups and watching sunsets”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2013

This beautiful self-contained villa has a HUGE kitchen/living area/front patio, which make a fantastic space to share drinks and food with a group of friends. It's positioned far enough out of 'town' to be tranquil, but close enough to hop into a cidomo or on a bike and be there in ten minutes. Friendly host Tymberlee went to quite some effort to return an item of sentimental value that I'd left behind. We found the upstairs loft area, which can sleep a good few people, pretty warm. It would benefit from aircon (though the fans help), but the downstairs bedrooms are very comfortable, with aircon. The whole place is spacious and relaxing - even the gardens are gorgeous, with multi-coloured bougainvillea blooming. Snorkelling offshore close by (near the dive shop) is some of the best I've seen, once you swim far enough out (bring rubber shoes, you can't buy them on the island). We very much enjoyed our time here.

Our family of 4 (2 girls aged 10 and 13) spent 4 nights at Villa Sunset beach in October 2013, and another family joined us for 2 nights of that. The villa is beautiful, and definitely big enough for 2 families, with 2 bedrooms downstairs with kingsize beds and a large loft area upstairs for the kids. The view from the villa is stunning, as is the sunset. Our host, Tymberlee, was very helpful with any information we wanted, and not at all intrusive. We ventured over to the other side of the island one night for dinner, but were very glad we chose to stay on the west side. (The other side would have been good when we were in our 20s, but now serenity is far more preferable!). There are plenty of eating options only a short walk away - karma kayak was our favourite - sitting on the bale, sipping cold bintang and feasting on tapas and the best satay chicken. The sea is an unbelievable colour with great visibility. The snorkelling was wonderful, and even closer to shore around the eco-reefs we got to see different fish, coral and turtles. Snorkels are for hire in a few places - we recommend the little stall at the point of the island where the ladies hired us snorkels for about $1.50 for the day, and cut a mean pineapple for $1!. Don't forget to take shoes with you, as the coral makes it a bit uncomfortable underfoot. A pool would have been nice too, but if you turn left out of the villa and walk for about 10 mins there's a resort that lets you use its huge pool if you spend $10 - no problem doing that with happy hour at 4pm!
We spent another 4 days in Ubud and 5 days in Seminyak, but Gili Trawangan was by far our favourite spot. Back to work and still dreaming about it!

A fantastic place to stay - I can't recommend it highly enough. The villa has been beautifully designed; all the rooms are clean, spacious with amazing Balinese furniture. The villa is right on sunset beach, the perfect spot for a bintang to watch the sun go down.

You will need to hire a bike for the stay (40 000 IDR / $3.5 a day) as it is on the other side of the island to the main town - in my eyes this is a plus as it was so much quieter, a great escape!

Perfect for some 'together time'. We stayed in the standard bungalow. This bungalow is simply gorgeous! Huge outdoor bathroom, set nicely back from the road but still close to the beach. Simple but very comfortable interior. Literally everyone that walked past were gazing at it in admiration!

It's on the quiet side of the island but I personally preferred this side. Just up the road (5 mins walk) is a fab breakfast place with a French chef. Also best place to watch the sunset on the island. Next door (1 min walk) is hotel with swimming pool.

There is a path right next to the bungalow that leads to the main drag on the other side of the island. It takes around 10 mins via horse and cart or 10 mins via bike. The path up to the other hotels on the side the bungalow is on is pretty sandy and best for walking as opposed to cycling but horses and carts are ok on it.

I really wanted to stay in a traditional style bungalow that wasn't surrounded by noise and chaos. That's exactly what we got - perfect! We would definitely stay again and the host is also lovely.

I had a great time staying at Villa Sunset Beach last week. The property is amazing with great views of the ocean, tranquil island life feeling, close to food and other amenities, and just a beautiful all around place. The rooms are clean and very well maintained and the staff is amazing. I would recommend Villa Sunset Beach to anyone looking for a quiet place to relax or spend time with family and friends. I will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Beach front Bungalow is awesome.

My family with 2 kids stayed in the Villa 9 nights during our 1 month trip trough Indonesia, and we were really very satisfied. The Villa has a perfect location if you like a tranquil place where you can enjoy every day a beautifull sunset. It has 2 spacious bedrooms each with separate bathroom and a huge open space plus an open loft with another beds and bathroom. Its was too big for our family, because its ideal for 2 families, but we liked it so much !!! There are also 2 other options for accommodations (small and large bungalow) which are ideal for a couples or honeymooners. So there is an option for everybody.
The beach on this site is full of corals, so you need some shoes to walk safely into the sea. This is probably the best snorkeling place on the island, and its also very close to places where divers come to see the turtles, sharks and many kind of fishes. We were lucky to see turtles not only during diving but also when we were snorkeling. To look more from the island you can rent bicycles (quite cheap), or you can walk around. Its easier with bicycles especially during the hot parts of the days, but in the evening you can have a nice 30-60 minute walk to the opposite side of the island. In case you are too lazy, you can use for transportation also a horse cart (no motorized vehicle on the island), but we used it only on arrival and departure day. Breakfast in the Villa is the best option - you can buy what you need and prepare it in the kitchen and then enjoy it on the terrace. In case you prefer service, you can enjoy your breakfast in the close resorts on the beach. For lunch and dinner you have more options on this side of the island, where you can choose every day something different and in case you rent bicycles, you can try some restaurants also on the busier part of the island. The owner Timberlee was very helpful with everything and she helped us also with first shopping for breakfast and all kind of information we needed. She really takes care about the place and the people, so we can only highly recommend this place.

Thank you Timberlee

There is no staff no swiming pool no breakfast , but there is a nice hotel just beside this one where you can go at any momento and they will help you,
The owner just tell us to go there as after 4 there is noboy to help you at the sunset, they just help us in everything the sunset beach owner didn´t´. It´s better to pay them as they are the only ones working.
In addition, there were two lizards in my room and when I looked behind the tv I saw some animal droppings behind the TV. The owner made us a rebate, but money is less important than having a nice stay when you are on holidays
Location is amazing but there are many hotels and bungalows just beside this one. I would never come back
