Gili Exotic Villa

I book here my first night in gili and i must say that the price is very far from the real value of this place.
Dirty rooms and far from the beach.......staff was never available
The next 3 nights in trawangan i slept in another 2 different places much better and well located and i saved 40% from exotic villas
I strongly advice anyone not to go there

Maybe i'm not the first customer who got bad story in this villa. I was VERY DISAPPOINTED with the staff. This villa have 3 staffs, they looks very friendly but at the end THEY STOLEN MY MONEY with a duplicate key of safety box.

Gili have a lot of beautiful place for stay, trust me stay away from this place.

I knew before arriving that this is a Villa concept just that all rooms are sold individually. The picture is misleading and there is only 1 twin room right near the entrance. Booked for 5n but checked out after 2n when I discovered that money was stolen from our safe!

The manager running the place is not based here and arerun by 3 local guys. Our first day was fine but upon our shocking discovery about stolen money, we decided to check out. they never beared any responsibility and didn't give any explanation. Imagine money stolen twice in a day!

Before we left, Kim still said "if u have no money pls don't stay here "!

Avoid this place! We were lucky that this wasn't a prepaid stay.

Gili Exotic Villas is located a couple of blocks back from the Art Market on Gili Trawangan. It consists of 5 double rooms with a/c and own private outdoor ensuite - clustered around a central outdoor living/dining area and medium sized pool.

The concept is excellent - and on first appearance the facilities look good - however there has been no attention to maintenance for some time resulting in broken and rotting wooden decking around the pool area and inbetween the villas - damp patches and shoddy paintwork in some of the rooms - haphazard availability of staff (sometimes the place is deserted) - mould in the showers - lack of decision making about when to start the generator (due to the frequent power blackouts that affect the entire island) - and attempts to overcharge for hiring of items like snorkelling gear and bikes.

The facility is up for sale, and we were told the current owner is not spending any more money on it pending the sale. Having said all of the above, the staff were friendly enough (when they were around) - the breakfast was fine (based on a variety of egg dishes) - and the location was close to the front street.

Be aware that Gili Trawangan is predominantly muslim and there are two mosques in close proximity to the hotel - the call to prayer is sent out by each of the mosques independently within a few minutes of 5 am each day. The two front rooms are the quietest and the two back rooms the most affected by noise. Also, as it is a semi-rural area - the neighbour's rooster (who apparently hasn't worked out when sunrise actually is) will crow incessantly from about 1.30am onwards.

If maintenance were attended to - this facility would be well worthwhile for the price.

Room Tip: Avoid the two back rooms if you want a more peaceful night's sleep.

It is a small hotel with only 5 villa. It is quite hard to find its a 200m walk from the port (go right when you get off the boat) and then another 200m walk down a dirt track. I was worried you wouldn't be able to see at night but it is well lit up. It is very close to the amazing food market open every evening definitely eat there if you go. It is a very noisy island so I did appreciate being back from the main hustle bustle of the island. Anywhere you stay on this island is noisy. In response to the other comments the island only had a certain amount of electricity so it is not the hotels fault if it was not working. The room was fine and the bed comfortable. The pool is lovely and the breakfast was amazing. If I go back to the island I would stay there again.

The villas only have 5 rooms all situated around a very small
Plunge pool. Privacy you won't have & noise from the nor so great generator is very loud. It is located off of the main beach front away from the party scene which could be quiet if it weren't or the locals in the early morning. Power was not working properly & the generator went on & off. It was very hot & we had to shower by candle light. Agoda neglected to confirm our booking so we only stayed one night then had to move somewhere else the next day.
