“Heaven on earth”

Having spent a week at Karma Kayak and still not wanting to leave, I cannot recommend this place highly enough. For a group of six girls who had exhausted themselves taking in as much of Bali as they could in the time available including a lot of partying in Kuta, Karma absolutely hit the spot. Yes, it is located away from the bars so if you do want to stay in the middle of the party, this wouldn't be for you; however, most nights we got a 10 minute horsetaxi into the 'town' which was no trouble. Since it was busy, we moved between three different rooms during the week and all were spotless with quality bathrooms and individually decorated rooms. The service was incredible, both from the Dutch owners, Dutch helper and the Indonesian guys - two of whom we renamed 'Happiness' and 'Contentment' as we had never met such genuinely happy, polite and cotent people - who appeared to be telepathic and sense when it was time for our daily gorge on the delicious tapas lunch available on the beach or move our sunloungers to the seashore and offer us a sundowner. The included breakfast was another highlight - think fresh fruit juice of your choice, coffee and banana pancakes, served on the beach if you so desired! A brilliant dive school run by Seb is 30 seconds right along the beach and a 30 minute walk in the late afternoon to the left will take you to a fascinating zen style bar built into the rocky cliff to watch the sunset. As far as I'm concerned, this island and particularly Karma Kayak is paradise. I can't get back there soon enough.

We live in the tropics so we were surprised to find that Karma Kayak rooms had windows that didn't open. All that sea breeze that couldn't get into the room. And it's well known that there is dengue fever on the island (carried by mosquitoes) but there are no screens on the doors/windows or nets over the beds. And the big windows only have cane blinds as covers, so at night you can see into your neighbours rooms. Not very private. We were disappointed by the property and moved out after one night. The rooms that have air conditioning don't have the option of fans, so that's not very eco friendly.

We stayed at Karma Kayak on New Years Eve.
Clean bungalow, nice design. Very nice staff and the owner, Olga, was very helpful.
The breakfast is great!

I forgot a golden necless in the bungalow, and returned a week later to see if it was still there. To my surprise they had kept it and was happy I came to collect it. Honest staff´!
The beach has quite some corals right outside, but with 3 minutes walk it is just
great.

I found our short stay at Karma Kayak great and would love to return.
In our view, the north of the island is the best location because it is calm and relaxing.

Karma Kayak is run by two dutch Women Astrid and Grace - and their Manager Olga

A truly lovely, no nonsense place - situated at the quiet north end of Gili Tarawang.Equipped with Wi-Fi and abundant smiles.
If you want to go for party party with loud crowds - then this is not your spot - stay in the center.
But if you want a solid middle of the road, friendly lovely place - with great rooms and large terasses - tastefully decorated - this is your place. There are fans in the room - which are sufficient to get you cooled down at night.
The food is delicious - and the menu is about to be even further improved.
Two steps - and you are at the beach. Breakfast is served where ever you want to have it. There are books you can lend - snorkeling gear to be rented for a very modest price.
The walk into the centre is about 25 minutes, but a good change, since you just want to loll around at the beach all day - in utter quiet. The only sound you will hear is an occasional soft music playing...
In the evening all is lit up with candles, and soft light.. the perfect spot to end the day!
One of the most uplifting aspect of Karma Kayak are the owners and the way they care about their staff. They do their very best to be good hosts and good bosses - and you will enjoy the fruits of their labor - as their staff does the very best to make you happy.
- All of this in a eco-oriented environment. - What else do you need on a remote island.

PS: The perfect coffee will be soon available - as they need more power to run the espresso machine.

Although this hotel is in a very nice part of the island, beware of the photos of the accomodation on the website and others as they are misleading and do go for a room with air conditioning. My daughters stayed here for 3 nights as a treat from me, the bungalows are not all single storey my daughters ended up in a second floor room which was very hot with a fan ( i had chosen a fan but i was expecting a lovely one storey bungalow as illustrated on the photos) there was also no mosquito net and the one daughter got quite a few bites. Water did not flow out of the tap in the bathroom at all times and to top it all they were awoken the one morning by banging, workmen were taking up the floor of the groundfloor accomodation. There are much better hotels for the same price.

We had booked to stay here for 3 nights but ended up staying for 4 as liked it so much. Karma Kayak is to the north of the island and was very peaceful compared to the main area. The place has a really chilled out atmosphere and the location is amazing. The beach was stunning, especially at sunset when the staff light a beachfire and bring out lanterns.

We stayed in one of the air conditioned rooms which were very clean and of a good standard, albeit slightly basic, but this added to the charm and to be honest you didn't need much more. The sea water showers were not for the faint hearted but you are staying in an Eco friendly resort!

Food here was very tasty. We ate a couple of nights here then ventured out the rest of the time. Breakfasts were fab. Only slight disappointment was that we were not able to kayak as the tides are too strong just now.

We had a fantastic stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend a visit to Karma Kayak.

I was really looking forward to the last leg of our trip at Karma Kayak. Whilst we did have a lovely time, i couldn't help but feel underwhelmed by the whole experience. the rooms at the top of of the new bungalows are fan only and VERY VERY hot. We had a few overcast days so i cant imagine how uncomfortable it must be at night time when it is very hot. There is no hot water either. Make sure that you clarify whether you have a fan or air conditioned room prior to booking as i didn't and was surprised. However for the money (Bali and Lombok hotels were surprisingly expensive compared the rest of Asia) we couldn't complain.

The owners weren't as friendly as everyone makes them out to be. However, their environmentally aware ethos is great. Particularly as they seem to be the few hotels on the island who are so aware. For example any snorkel hire money goes towards the eco fund which is great. The food at Karma Kayak is lovely. Probably the best of all of the restaurants we tried whilst on Gili T.

A couple of touches could propel this hotel up a few nothces - soap in the bathrooms and beach towels! Not having any soap in the bathrooms seemed a bit tight... and giving beach towels would be great as turned up without any.

It was impeccably clean and the beach is probably the nicest on this part of the island too.
