I stayed here this year again after being convinced of a top place from my visit in 2008. The people are always willing to assist you in any way and I was made to feel at home from word go. I loved the central location and the diving was amongst the best I have had so far. Accommodation-wise it was just what I wanted from typical indonesian huts and the cleaning staff always kept things spic and span for me. Money wise I thought prices were competitive and in sync with the rest of this island.

Did not know quite how travelling Indonaesia with a young child was going to be, but the hospitality of everyone on the island was out of this world. At Manta Bungalows they provided us with a baby cot for no extra charge and on more than one occassion arranged a baby sitter who was very professional and trustworthy to stay in with our little one, while mummy and daddy went out and had a good few jars, absolute knockout. This also ment that we could go diving during the day and the little fella was always laughing and smiling when we came back.
I would just like to say a big thank you to everyone at Manta and we look forward to seeing you all again soon.

I stayed in Manta Bungalows when I visited Gili Trawangan last year....I couldn't have dreamed of anything more perfect! They had a massive double bed with crisp white sheets, air conditioning, a safe, a fridge etc etc.. You open the door to the bathroom..which is down a couple of steps & outside..it has walls for privacy but no roof...so you shower out in the open!...other people staying all loved the bathroom! They are cleaned daily to a high standard & the staff are all very friendly. Another great thing is that it's joined on to Manta Dive..so it's all very close & the beach is right on the front of Manta Dive..so you can get out of bed & straight into the sea! I have great memories of Manta & my time staying in Manta Bungalows & would highly recommend to you all!
ps. I advise to book in advance if you can, especially in the summer months.

Manta on Gili T is one of my favourite places to stay. The accommodation is clean, really comfortable and great value for money, the staff are very friendly, it's in a stunning location and, to top it all off, the diving is fabulous.

I managed my booking directly with Manta via email and received prompt and detailed replies everytime. They arranged our transportation from Bali to Gili Trawangan and even delivered our flight tickets to our Bali hotel. Our air, land and sea transfer from Bali via Lombok went very smoothly and we were greeted at Manta with smiles and efficiency.

The 'rice barge' bungalows feel new, are fairly spacious and detached. They're set behind the dive school, so it's not too far to stumble if you're diving at 9am! The bungalows have large, private outside en suites at the back with freshwater hot showers, and balconies on the front where we enjoyed a post-dive, pre-dinner Bintang most nights. The in-room air conditioning is powerful, the white sheets are crisp and clean, the rooms have a safe, some storage space, and there's a fridge stocked with reasonably priced drinks. The breakfast is good, you get a reasonable choice of hot and cold items and it's served in the cafe from where you can see the sea and sit and watch island life go by.

There's a small pool at Manta with some loungers but mostly that's used for diving, or cross the road and you're directly on the beach. But for sunbathing and swimming it's best to turn left out of Manta and head north for a few minutes (walking) to a beach area free of boats with great snorkelling.

But if you're a keen diver, or keen to learn how to dive, then this is where Manta comes into its own. We've dived many sites around the world, including the Red Sea and Sipadan, and found the diving from Gili T to be superb. You're pretty much guaranteed to see reef sharks and turtles. The Manta guides are really friendly, a good laugh and hugely experienced. A very reluctant friend of mine learnt how to dive at Manta, she ended up loving every minute and is now a true convert. If you're an advanced diver ask Ben to take you to Deep Halik and learn how to really fly! Oh and they even get all of your dive kit ready for you and carry it on and off the boat - great for lazybone divers like me!

Then there's the after-dive time when you can chill out with the staff, chat about the day's diving, drink a beer or two and watch the sun go down, before wandering to one of the island's restaurants for dinner.

The only negatives are the occasional powercuts (but that's the island's infrastructure at fault rather than Manta) and on one night a week the noise of a nearby party which goes on into the early hours (so pack earplugs!). But this didn't put us off from staying at Manta a second time because it and Gili T have so much to offer. And if we're ever that way again, we'll definitely be booking ourselves in for another stay.

By the way, we also stayed at Hotel Vila Ombak for a few days as a 'treat'. I wouldn't recommend it as it felt grossly overpriced and had a strange atmosphere to it somehow. We've also spent a week in one of the Manta Villas - these are absolutely fantastic.

Thank you for taking the time to review Manta Bungalows. We do our very best to make sure that our customers are happy and will return in years to come. The power supply problems on Gili Trawangan are unfortunately still there and are not getting any better. I am however very pleased to let you know that late last year we invested in a back generator that can power the Dive shop and Bungalows for periods of up to 8 hours at a time. Our power concerns are over.
