Jepun Bungalows

Spent 3 very nice days at Jepun. No AC in our room, but the fan did a good job of keeping us comfy. The outdoor bathroom was fun, with that true tropical island feel. One highlight was the very good included breakfast. Other menu items at the cafe we're also good. The owner can provide lots of correct information, which isn't always easy to come by on the Gilis. Also, I recommended buying your speedboat tickets to Bali at Jepun, everyone else we talked to about tickets ask a much higher price.

My friends and I went around pretty much the whole island to try to find nice and affordable accommodation and in the end decided to stay in Jepun Bungalows. The reason was that for the price we payed the bungalows were nice, quiet, there were breakfast included and the garden looked really beautiful. The bungalows were nice inside and the bathroom was ok (though there were lot of ants and some cockroaches) but our problem was with the swamp garden that brought in lot of mosquitos inside the bungalow and the mosquito net was old and smelled terrible! The worst damp smell like old cigarettes, so we felt like we couldn't breath inside the mosquito net. Also on our second night it was really loud in the bungalow, since you could hear the party all the way from Gili Air and the loud bass kept us awake. (Avoid staying in Gili Meno on Wednesdays when the Legend bad on Gili Air has a huge all night beach party that echos across the water like the party was on Gili Meno) Obviously the party had nothing to do with Jepun and actually the owner was so friendly and the breakfast so good the next morning that we almost forgot the badly slept night. Overall, and ok place if you are on budget but there might be some better options around the area.

We stayed in Jepun bungalows 3 nights in the end of April. We booked bungalow 5. Room looked very run down. Mosquito net was almost grey. Bed linen clean though. Airco was so noisy, we were afraid it would fall off the wall. The 'outside' bathroom was worst. Moss and weeds growing on floor and walls. Toilet used to be white, now stained grey. And the smell was bad. The shower was warm (after they fixed it the second day). The rooms were not cleaned and only fresh towels when asked and no complimentary (drinking) water or soap. If the room was 20$ it would all be fine, but we payed 50$ a night which is absolutely too much for the low standard; during our trip we have seen far better, even on the Gili's. Owners were not interested and didn't say much. We did not feel welcome at all. Don't go here, there are better alternatives for an equal price.

First impression: Not bad! Bungalows look nice from the outside.
Second impression (next morning): Dirty room, bad smelling bath room and on top of that we woke up covered with BED BUG BITES all over us!
Full price to pay and: "We dont have bed bugs!" were the reactions...
Bad accomodation on a very beautiful island!

Jepun is a great option on Gili Meno. It's just 200 meters from the beach and much less expensive for similar quality bungalows on the beach. The rooms are crisp and clean and have a nice vibe. The whole place has a nice vibe and best music on the island. We stayed for about three weeks and have no complaints. While there, the restaurant wasn't open because it was low season, but the breakfasts were good.

We stayed at Jepun Bungalows for 6 nights in February 2012. We paid 170.000 Rupees per night including breakfast. For breakfast you can choose between toast with eggs or a (banana or pineapple) pancake and coffee/tea/orange juice. The pancakes were very tasty. The bungalow was spacious with a big bed and mosquito net. The bathroom is outdoors which is great when it's sunny but can be a negative when it's monsoon season. There's free WiFi in the restaurant. It doesn't always work (depending on the weather) but it's still a big plus because not many places on the Gili's have WiFI. The staff was very friendly. They arranged tickets for the fast boat to Bali for a lower price than any of the tourist agencies offered us. Jepun also has a nice book collection (lots of Dutch books) and the restaurant serves good food (big portions). For cheaper meals you can go to Yaya Warung. We enjoyed our stay and would definately recommend staying here.

Room Tip: If you stay in bungalow nr. 1 (closed to the restaurant) you can use the WiFI in your own room.

I stayed at Jepun last year, and i still had it in mind of their service. Very friendly staff, the Balinese guy who runs it always asked me every afternoon "How was your surfing?". It feels good to have nice people around. The room itself is clean, tidy and spacious, surrounding is serene and quite, gave me a really good sleep quality, and bathroom is also clean with fresh water, which is a plus poin. They also have good book collections, and let me borrow one as i only brought one book when i was there. I was gonna stay there again on my second visit but it's just too far from my dive centre, so i was a bit sad when i couldn't stay there :(
