Biru Meno Bungalows

My time at Biru Meno was absolutely amazing. The beach is heaven, the staff are your best friends, and the food is perfect. I had a wonderful time there, talking with everyone and experiencing the ocean, nature, and music of Indonesia. I recommend everyone to take some time of work and relax in a beautiful paradise.

Stayed here our first night after arriving late on Gili Meno. The nearby beach is quite nice but the rooms were horribly dirty (cigarette ash and cockroaches).

The next morning we went for a walk around the island and looked at several other places and found that the beaches are much nicer one the west side of the island (and they get the sunset over the water), and that just about any of the other bungalows were much better value.

Thankfully we decided to move to a different spot for the rest of our trip. When we were leaving they tried to charge us for the rest of our time on the island (although we had not pre-booked with them). When we refused they began shouting and became very aggressive. The place was empty besides us, so they were probably quite desperate for customers, but it was not a good experience at all.

After moving to a different spot we thoroughly enjoyed the rest of our stay on Gili Meno, and only experienced kindness and hospitality from the other locals. This was the one bad spot in a beautiful place, and would be better avoided.

We stayed here for 3 days in two bungalows and it was wonderful. The bungalows itself were outworn and the showers were quite dirty. The bed wasn't that comfortable. But we didn't mind that. Because the view you get is worth it. The beach is right in front of you. I enjoyed the patio with the couch a lot. Just listening to the waves was blissfully.
Will stay here again.

We loved our 6 nights at Biru Meno!

It is about a 10 minute amble away from the main tourist area, which allows you to have nice relaxing days away from the majority of tourists but it is close enough to the restaurants etc.

All of the bungalows are close to the water and face the beach. There is okay snorkeling just off the shore. No air-con, but there is a fan and the bungalows are designed to make the most of the sea breeze.

The shower water is from the well, so it is "fresh salty water". Not as salty as the sea, but not as fresh as fresh water - although your soap doesn't lather as well you still come out of the shower feeling fresh and clean.

We paid usd 60.00 per night, which wasn't cheap but considering it was high season wasn't too bad.

The excellent service rating I've given it is for Wayan whose happiness is contagious!

Room Tip: We had one of the stone front bungalows in the middle (sorry I can't remember the number) and it...

We liked the position of Biru Meno and its restaurant, we had VERY GOOD MEALS there, and it is romantic restaurant right on the beach.
The beach is also very good and you can watch a nice sunrise form there.
But the bungalows are definitely overprices, we have paid 40 euros for bungalow, the furniture is old, the windows do not close well, no air conditioning, only a fan, salty water only, and lots of flies!!! the bed linen smelt badly.
I would recommend to come only for the RESTAURANT.

A friend and i arrived on Gili Meno with no plans and nothing booked.
We found what we thought was an ok room at another hotel & checked in for the first night.
Taking the horse and cart tour of the island, as we rounded the last bend before the village we discovered Biru Meno & immediately walked back to our hotel and checked out, we moved into a bungalow at Biru Meno for the next few days.
We spent many hours watching the ocean, swimming, snorkelling and beach wandering from one of the cabanas provided on the beach.
We happily gave up the airconditioning and fresh water showers at the first hotel for the tranquility, sea breezes and fantastic hosts at Biru Meno.
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff here and they often entertained us playing guitar & singing.

The girlfriend and I stayed at Biru Meno in May 2012, after our pre-arranged accommodation on Gili Meno had turned out to be a bit of a nightmare. We were able to secure a beautiful little beach-front bungalow, maybe 15 metres from the water. The room was simple, but clean and comfortable and well lit. No air-con but plenty of fans, and the bed is covered by a mosquito net which is handy.

If you're keen on turquoise waterviews from your bed, the coral-covered bungalow is one not to be missed! We paid Rp 400,000 per night which included breakfast and taxes and stayed on for six fantastic nights. The bed is a little firm, but it wasn't a major issue.

Biru Meno is managed by a young lad named Wayan, who is a dead-set legend. Wayan is polite, friendly and goes out of his way to help you out and find out about how your day was. Wayan's friendly and helpful attitude certainly made our stay that much more memorable, and we were sure to get a photo with him before leaving.

The hotel also doubles as a restaurant.

In terms of location, Biru Meno is in one of the quieter corners of an already quiet Gili Meno, though we quite enjoyed the romantic element of laying on a beautiful white sandy beach with nobody else in sight. It is only a 10 minute walk from the main dock and information centre.

Meno really is an untouched paradise. Trawangan and Air are each only a 15 minute journey away by the Island Hopper boat, which costs Rp 20,000 one way. These islands are a bit more action-packed, but it's great to be able to come back to a peaceful and relaxing Meno - especially if you've scored a bungalow at Biru Meno!
