Tao' Kombo Travel Lodge
Reviewed September 12, 2012

The french-owned lodge is in a backside beach street (5 min from the jetty where the boats start).
It has a huge garden with a nice bar and restaurant. The wooden huts are simple but okay. The place is good for a good sleep because of its location.
Staff and owners are very nice and easy-going. It' s a fair deal.

We opted for their most unusual bungalow - a big bed with mosquito net under the roof (wooden curtains surrounding the bed and the sitting area can be lowered), fenced open-air bathroom and a roofed sitting platform, all behind a low wooden fence. Casuarina trees are everywhere on the plot and around. It's about 100 m away from the beach, no internet, but free wifi is not far away - in the restaurant in the lane behind the Blue Marlin dive center - about 5 min walking. Rates include breakfast (we negotiated to 150 000 Rp total daily). Breakfast is served to wooden platforms, surrounding the bar area, every platform for 2-3 people. Staff is very friendly. Perhaps, this was the most unusual and nice accommodation I used ever.

Room Tip: Take the described bungalow, the second last.

Gili Meno is a great place, I have been coming back here for may years. It is the quietest of the 3 islands, great beaches, nice spots for snorkeling. If you are looking for an affordable place to stay Tao kombo is your answer. The staff is very friendly. It is close to the beach. On the beach you will find a small hut and mama Melany, say hi for me, I miss her already. Was there from 21 to 30 June 2012.

We only stay here for one night, but overall it was pleasant. We stayed at the double room with fan (Rp.190.000,-), completed with an open air bathroom which was basic but still okay. The staff was very kind and friendly. They helped us to find a great snorkeling spot. There were lots and lots of mosquitoes at the island, so make sure you bring along some mosquito repellent.

Tao' Kombo staff were very friendly and helpful. They totally spoiled my kids, let them hang out with them, helped them make boats from bottles, applied first aid when needed, and treated us all very kindly. They even organised for a staff member to bring back kids' dvds and cereal from Lombok. Very sweet. Totally relaxed and chilled out atmosphere alongside professionalism. Well done Tao' Kombo. The huts were clean and comfy, great bed in #1. Jungle Bar music was not intrusive. Tao' Kombo is back from the beach among the trees so we were sheltered from the big winds at the time. My kids want the 'crispy chicken' recipe! All over a great stay for comfort, helpful staff, cleanliness, relaxed atmosphere and quietness.

Room Tip: Hut 1 has comfy huge bed.

Loved Tao Kombo. Paid 160,000rp for a bungalow (single occupancy) and at that price it was exponentially better than some of the mediocre rooms I stayed in around Indonesia.

The bungalows are set along a path from the chill out bar, which is itself about 100m along the path from the beach. Fans, nets and socket in the rooms. Beds are comfortable and bedding very clean. Outside bathrooms were also clean, if a bit basic.

The owners are very friendly and the bar / restaurant is great, with good food and comfortable little platforms in which you can recline on cushions and eat or drink to your hearts content - though it would be fair to say that the menu is quite limited, whatever you choose will be good.

I stayed here for about five days and would happily have extended my stay if I could. A great place.

this place is a little gem. you find it down a little track which is well lit at night.
dont expect air conditioning or room service but do expect quaint indonesian charm.
we stayed in a rice hut with an openair bathroom.
the first room had bags of charm but was extremely "rustic".
we did switch to the hut next door after our 2nd night when we found a huge eight legged creature in the room. the next room was larger, brighter, had a bigger bathroom (still open air) and had glass in the windows!
the staff are brilliant and gave us tips for the next stop - Gili Trawangan
the cozy bar has real atmosphere at night even if there is hardly anyone there - you dont feel it!
a tasty breakfast completes the picture
