FERGUS Paraiso Beach Hotel
Ranked #4 of 13 Hotels in Es Canar
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed May 4, 2014

Just got back from a 'super cheap', 4 day break at Paraiso Beach and found it to be much more than we expected. Rooms were immaculate and quite large. Rather basic but you don't intend to spend too long in your room when on holiday. The beds were very comfortable and the room was cleaned every day. The food was very good and there was always plenty of choice. The evening entertainment was poor but this made it even more entertaining!
We had a couple of issues with lack of water but the Hotel worked quickly to rectify the problems. I believe this was the first week of opening and you expect teething problems!.

The best thing about this hotel is the staff, always smiling and very willing to help - I just hope they can maintain their enthusiasm for the rest of the season as they make this Hotel what it is!

Es Canar is a small, friendly village and has a lovely beach, several good restaurants but not much night life at the time of our visit.

All in all extremely good value and a very pleasant trip

Just returned from a 4-day stay at this hotel. Good hotel with cheerful, helpful staff. We had a lovely room with a large balcony furnished with sunbeds so no need to go further than our front door if we didn't want to! Excellent choice of food - couldn't fault it. Something to please everyone, plenty of fresh fruit, often missing in all-inclusive deals. Pool small but clean and well-maintained. We are thinking of returning and only got home this afternoon. Well-done to all the staff. Good value for money.

We our trip via Broadway travel, an all inclusive, free pool view room upgrade, late checkout deal. On arrival at our room we found we were overlooking the road rather than the pool view we should have had. Speaking with reception we were told that the room upgrade was an option only dependent on availability, Fortunately I had taken with me all my booking paperwork that stated clearly that the room upgrade was part of the deal. To cut this short we did get the room upgrade after waiting about 15 minutes, however this is not a good way to start any holiday, whether this is an issue with Broadway Travel or the hotel I am not sure, but without the booking paperwork I am unsure as to whether we would have got what we paid for.

The rooms poolside certainly have a much better view than those on the other side of the hotel and I would certainly make sure before you go that you get a room pool side. However there is a down side to these rooms and that is it can be very noisy from around the pool area at night. For us this wasn't a problem as we go to sleep late at night but if you want an early night you may want to consider this in your choice of room.

The rooms themselves are very basic, the décor is old and tired. Yes the rooms are clean, but they are in need of a drastic overhaul to bring them up to a more modern standard. The beds are really uncomfortable, not much more than a camp bed. We had two single beds pushed close together, they are not ideal I am sure for all couples, whether a double bed is available in other rooms I'm not sure.

On the third day of our trip we came back from breakfast to find we had no water, either to flush the toilet, which was a bit embarrassing, or to wash or shower with. Went straight down to reception to find out what was going on and was told they were working on the boiler and hopefully it would be fixed shortly. I asked if I could have a big bottle of water from the shop next to reception to take upstairs so at least I could flush the toilet and brush my teeth. The receptionist had to refer this decision to the manager who refused and said they would send a maid up with a bucket of water shortly! Unbelievable penny pinching and a damning indictment of the attitude of the management at this hotel in my opinion. The water did eventually come back on as a trickle to begin with, we were unable to shower that day before going out, but it was useable, just, by the end of the day on our return.

We thought the food at the hotel was excellent, the breakfast gives you as much choice as you could possibly want from the full English including unusually fried bread which was delicious. In addition of course are the fruits and yoghurt's and meats and on and on. The same can be said of the evening meal always lots of choice. The only downside to the meals is the juice and coffee machine. Really disappointing and needs to be changed the juice is pretty much undrinkable and the coffee and tea is not much better.

The entertainment (if you are looking for entertainment in an hotel) is extremely poor, acts that would look out of date in a Yarmouth or Blackpool summer club. Very working class old school entertainment, your going to Ibiza for goodness sake party capital of Europe this just does not fit in.

The Hippy Market is well worth a visit, on every Wednesday, and only a 10 minute walk from the hotel. My partner enjoyed all the stalls while I was quite happy to listen to the various bands that play and soak up the atmosphere.

The really positive message I have for this hotel is the staff. Juan the barman/restaurant manger/entertainment manager/ does everything manager is incredible. His energy and commitment to making sure guests have a good a time as possible is remarkable. kachia another lady who goes out of her way to make sure guests are always smiling. On seeing that my partner had burnt her skin she went out of her way to provide a remedy to ease the discomfort. It is the staff here that I am sure save this hotel from going out of business. Hence the title of this review.

So overall despite the efforts of the staff and the decent food I would not recommend this hotel for your trip.

Room Tip: Definitely go poolside for the view providing you don't mind a bit of noise in the evening

Formerly named The Paraiso Beach Hotel read those reviews . If you are looking for cheap sun in an average hotel , then here you are for the money its good , not very good. Food is adequate, Beds could be better. Needs more sunbeds.

Room Tip: Top floor gives extra balcony space.

We went back to this hotel in September 2013. We had previously stayed at this hotel in July 2012 as a couple, it was then half board. We went back with out two children 21 and 17 as it was a good base for the beaches we go to.Its All inclusive now. Fine for what we wanted but would of been diappointed if we had returned a just as a couple. We missed the personal touch of coffee and teas served to you on a morning and machine coffeeis not as tasty.Same staff, rushed of thier feet. same entertainment. We went with Thompsons but were told a new operator will be doing this hotel 2014. As its A/I there are not enough sunbeds to cater for this. Entetainment inside also where it was outside in 2012.. I dont like to be sitting inside on my summer hols. I felt the hotel is more suited for older people so i would advise people under 35-40to stay away as you will be bored. No day time entertainment, pitty.. .Pool also small for A/I as guests tend to stay by the pool as drinks and food are free allday. We knew what were were expecting but fear people will be disappointed .. Loved our first visit and brilliant staff but wont return as A/I im afraid :(..

Room Tip: Hotel 16+. no fitness centre so cant comment or no children as 16+ only.. Pool view high room..

Happy to say we enjoyed our half term bit of winter sun at this hotel, it is true if you are expecting a 5 star hotel on the cheap you will be a tad disappointed.
The best thing about the hotel is the staff the ever smiling Juan in particular (they Guy never seemed to take a break) Barman, Karaoke, Dishwasher (when there was a power cut) Bingo calling with a Juan twist and generally anything else you can think off.
Food wise we found everything laid out was all perfectly acceptable choice wise and of good quality.
Our 5th floor superior room was basic however was clean and did us fine for the amount of time we spent in it.
However as part of the entertainment provided in our room was the kettle, no off/on switch or thermostat when it boiled we did have a bit of competition who could get the biggest spark when we pulled the plug out the socket to turn it off (I Won) then there was the mattress on the wife's bed being 2" lower than mine and as much bounce as a plank.
One real downside to this Hotel was the corridor lighting or lack of in the dark which really needs to be addressed by the management, is the use of PIR sensors controlling the lights which are not fit for purpose and only detect you after a mummy walk near the end of it returning to your room door.
We opted not to upgrade our drinks from the usual all inclusive package as we found what was offer acceptable, one bonus however when there was a power outage the tidy bottled brew and wine was broken out as a result of the pumps not working.
Entertainment wise Caesars Palace it's not, but was a bit of fun especially after a few drinks and not worth grumbling about.
Would we return, yes the no under 16's and this small friendly a Hotel was a welcome winter sun break.

Room Tip: Fifth Floor rooms have extra balcony space.

Had a lovely week here at the beginning of September. The staff couldn't do enough for you. They simply never stopped, yet always had a smile on their face - especially Juan - barman, karaoke superstar, quiz host - you name it, really nice man.
Food was very good, far better than I had expected, this was our first try with all inclusive and would highly recommend it. Always plenty of choice, even for fussy eaters.
We upgraded to a superior room which gave us a large balcony with sunbeds and an umbrella to save the stampede in the morning for a sunbed by the pool. Well worth it, we had a lovely sea view from the top floor.
Just a short walk into Es Canar itself which has the usual tourist shops, but nice and quiet. Clean sandy beach and lots of walks to nearby bays.

Room Tip: Recommend upgrading to superior room, preferably on the top floor.
