“Lovely spacious Apartments”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

We booked the Studio room and were very surprised when we arrived as the word 'Studio' usually means a tiny little room with a bed, a kitchen and a toilet just off.. It was huge! Lets say a fancier word would be 'a spacious open-planned Apartment' :) We were in Room 305 and I emailed to request a sea-view which was met with delight. Balcony big enough for 2 people. Christina who worked in the Clothes shop below (this is where you pick up your keys) was the nicest person we could have met. She told us all the places to go (El Bigote, which I reviewed is a must) and all the little beaches and towns that you would'nt normally know about as they are not advertised freely - This is a good thing!
I would love to come back next year with our daughter although the only thing putting us off is no Air Conditioning - A MUST in August.. You could rent the units but an extra EUR100 per week I thought was a bit steep but I suppose if you have young kids it would be worth it. Upgrade your rooms with Air Con and charge a little extra per week, sorted!
Thanks for a lovely stay...

Room Tip: Room 305, a great room for a couple, sea view and lovely little balcony.. Rent an A/C unit

Just back from an 11 day stay. Apartments were very clean and although basic, fine. Was hoping for sea view but alas got carpark view which was actually great for people watching. The two ladies downstairs in the shop next door were lovely and helpful. Apartments had 2 beds and a sofa n extra bed in lounge. Kitchen had two hotplates,a microwave and a full size fridge. Bathroom had a brilliant powerful shower.maids came every other day and were always lovely and polite. The only niggles about the room were that they get very hot with just having ceiling fans so i suggest you rent a standing fan and the other thing there were no bowl/ dishes just plates but these are minor niggles. As we faced the car park/ bus top you did get noise but this only becomes a problem when the disco buses arrive full of screaming teenagers in the early hours every morning. Because they make so much noise we couldn't leave balcony doors open through the night so it was very hot. You get a card that gives you 10% off the restaurant underneath and also off souvenirs from the shop below, this was a nice touch. The pool is a few steps away and you have to use your door card to get in, its nice and clean but needs new sun beds as quite a few are broken .Es Cana is definitely a family resort throughout the day and evening but in the early hours the drunk revellers come out of the shadows. The apartments gave free wifi which was great but the signal was very intermittent in the rooms so my kids spent a lot of time in the reception area where it was fine. The old reception is not manned so after the ladies close the shop at 10.30 pm i don't think there is anyone about to sort any issues you might have. I have been to Es Cana 5 times now and i would definitely stay in these apartments again if i got a sea view. Id asked for top floor which i got but i did struggle with three flights of stairs so would ask for lower floor if i returned.Escana isn't the most prettiest resort but it has everything you will need for a lovely family holiday. Overall i would recommend these apartments .

I have just come back with my family from these apartments two days ago, and I have NO complaints in relation to them. The apartments were spacious, exceptionally clean, well equipped and a joy to stay in.
We had a one bedroom apartment between the four of us, and found the apartment catered to all of our needs. I would advise to buy one of the apartments fans though. It is $17 euros for the week, and well worth the money.
Our view was over the bus and taxi area, and it is really quite alright. There is no 'horrific view' like some of these other reviews stated. You need to book with the es canar playa apartments directly (www.parot.es) , if you require a sea view, which we didn't do, and therefore did not get sea view, but like I said, this was not an issue!
The exclusive pool is beautiful, calm and very clean. Maybe small, but only for a handful of people, as our apartments only had 29 rooms.
The location of these apartments are fantastic, as not only are you a few steps away from the beach, you are in a central location of the resort itself.
In terms of Es Cana, it is a mix between the resort of Santa Eulalia and Cala Llonga. There are some very nice shops, bars and restaurants, and even a small fair for the younger children (which may not be to everyone's liking, but its not rowdy or 'rough').
It is a large tourist resort, and it attracts mainly families, young couples and surprisingly young people itself. This is the only slight issue, the young groups of teenagers did mean a couple of sleepless nights, if you have your doors open, courtesy of why fans are needed. There are no apparent nightclubs though, so I am at loss as to why they were in the resort.
I highly recommend the train road trips (Ibiza express) that are provided in Es Canar, near our apartments, they are pricey if there a number of you, but seeing the beautiful beaches such as Es Figueral, Cala Llenya and Cala Boix (10.30 in the morning trip) is well worth it. A well spent 3 hour journey. It is also good, as it gives you scope for thinking about future holiday destinations.
The beach of Es Canar is lovely, and very sweet, can get busy, but a 'nice' busy.
Restaurants I would recommend include the Jacaranda Lounge, the restaurant below the apartments called Restaurant Es Canar (Do not be fooled by the silver bar and flat screen tvs, the food is very Spanish and totally fantastic with great service, the drinks prices are FANTASTIC in comparison to other places in the area) and the Mandarin Chinese restaurant.
We have been to Ibiza 3 times before, and can never recommend highly enough going to the beautiful Eivissa (Ibiza Town) - Beautiful stunning place, fabulous restaurants and shops steeped in history, surrounded by cultured stunning people. Costs around $26 each way from Es Canar.
We also visited the beautiful inland village of Sant Carlos. Stunning restaurants and shops (small selection - but has some lovely vintage boutiques), however, had slight difficultly getting a taxi back.
Santa Eulalia is always a nice night out, I would recommend La Rambla for their selection of Vegetarian and Gluten Free food.
Finally, we went to the Hippy Market in Es Canar, which we had failed to do before due to not staying in this resort. Definitely worth a visit. Beautiful people and lovely items affordably priced. Levi shorts was my bargain - $12 as opposed to paying £30/40 min. here.
A truly fantastic holiday.

I read a lot of good reviews before choosing Es Cana as a resort - and I made a BIG mistake by believing them. This is a great resort if you are elderly, have a young family or are tantalised by lots of restaurants and bars offering "British" food and entertainment. However, there is no character in this resort. In fact, you could be anywhere. Wonderful if you want to see an Abba tribute band, eat fish and chips or play bingo. Not so good if you are going on holiday for a taste of another culture.

The Es Cana Playa Apartments are, I am sure, fantastic if you are one of the lucky travellers given a sea view. In spite of requesting this, we found ourselves on the first floor overlooking the bus/taxi stop and the car park. Noisy from early in the morning with buses and also with coaches picking up and collecting travellers through the night. I was unable to open my patio door throughout the whole of the holiday because of the noise and was also unable to open my curtains - with the knowledge that the whole of the bus queue could see in! The patio was too hot to use during the day/evening and had a view of the main road and the higher rise hotel opposite. It was huge, but a totally wasted space. We asked to change rooms, with no luck. This hotel lacks a reception and a bar - in fact it has no social meeting point for its guests at all and no friendly face to help with problems. The swimming pool is a short walk away, located next to a fish and chip shop and a car park. It is poorly maintained, dirty, sad and neglected, with broken sun loungers and has certainly seen better days in the distant past.

The apartment itself was spacious and very clean (the cleaning staff do a great job), but it is basic. However, how much time do you spend in an apartment?

It seems that this hotel once had a proper reception desk, as on the first floor is a deserted desk with some framed awards hanging on the wall above it - all from the late '80s/early '90s. I think it has rested on its laurels for the past 20 years and is now just an overpriced apartment building. Interestingly, we did speak to some holiday makers who had booked directly with the hotel itself and were given accommodation with amazing views Go figure!

Sadly I will never return to this resort and certainly not to these apartments. They may well be on the beach, but that is pointless if all you can see is a car park and all you can hear is traffic and the childrens' fun fair about 100 yards away. You could pay a lot less for an equivalent apartment elsewhere in this resort - and probably with some facilities thrown in.

If you really want to stay in this part of Ibiza - which is undeniably beautiful beyond Es Cana - choose Cala Nova, or even Santa Eulalia and the surrounding area. You will not find the real Ibiza (or anything very Spanish at all) here.

If you get one of the rooms with a sea view, the chances are you are going to enjoy your stay here. If, like me, you get one overlooking the car park and a fun fair, then I can promise you won't want to spend much time sat on the balcony appreciating the view. The apartments are clean and comfortable, but you could pay considerably less and stay in equivalent accommodation. The pool is nice enough, but is situated next to the car park. The free wifi doesn't work. There is also no air con, which was fine in early June but wouldn't be at other times of summer.

As a solo traveller in his mid 30s, I didn't want to stay in a party destination with England's finest stumbling all over the place out of their minds. The trouble with Es Canar is that you have to contend with screaming kids instead - it is a physical challenge to be able to walk down the street given the number of push chairs being wheeled around. If you have young children and want a family friendly environment, this place is for you. If, however, bars advertising Gary Barlow tribute acts is not your idea of a good night out, I'd strongly advise staying somewhere else on Ibiza.

Room Tip: Make sure you opt for a sea view

Myself, late 60s. and My wife 50s. just returned from a week in Es Cana, great weather, first time in Ibiza, but hopefully not the last, firstly I made the mistake of booking the wrong room, booked a twin room and given room 200, it overlooked the rear of the property, facing the bus park, very pleasant, but no kitchen, being as we took some self catering items, I went to inquire if any other room was available with kitchen, paying a little extra, we were given room 207, a studio for 2/3 people, large room with kitchen and separate bathroom, large overhead fan that is very quiet, we overlooked the sea and had nice balcony space. For people with families, the 1 & 2 bedroom apartments looked superb, and even larger balcony's.
Much better option, only problems were the fridge seem to make odd noises, and if you do stop in late evenings, the television channels do not cater for the English, you might need to take alternative, we dined out every evening, and a good range of restaurants within 100 yards offered good food, mainly with deals of 3 courses for around 10 to 11 Euro,s, some with 1 free drink, the Apartments give you a discount card for 10% off anything in the shop /eating, or clothing in attached buildings.
There is access, via your door pass card, to private pool and sun bathing area at the side, I went swimming every day and found it quite pleasant and always plenty of sunbeds and shades available, the place is very central to all the action, and thankfully very relaxed, with more elderly holiday makers than previous places, there is no lift in the apartments, so be aware you will need to carry your cases to your room, beds made and towels changed every 2nd day.
We did not tour very much, but did go to Santa Eulalia with local bus service outside, every half hour and only 1.55 Euro,s each way, and a nice place to visit, the best place was the Hippie Market every Wednesday, within walking distance, and gets very crowded, so would be better to get there more early, Es Cana is a nice place and thankfully far away from all the drunks heading for San Antonio, so be aware the flight does get quite noisy, and they totally ran out of all alcohol on our flight !

Room Tip: Rooms 203 and 205 for families are brilliant, 3 levels, so I assume the 100s and 300s are the same b...

Really recommend these apartments if you are staying in Es Cana. They are really spacious with large balconies. Amazing value for money at this time of year. The apartments are right on the beach with all the restaurants and bars within a minutes stroll. Highly recommended. You need to bring hand soap as not provided
