“WEEK AT THE ATLANTIC”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

My family and my brothers family stayed at the Atlantic Oct 12 for a week, upon arrival we were greeted by friendly reception staff ,room wasn’t ready but it wasn’t a problem as they let us put luggage in the holding room and gave us our wrist bands to go enjoy a few drinks whilst our room was prepared.
We were in room 213, the room itself had loads of space also had a fridge included, room was cleaned every day by the maids.
Restaurant:-
Breakfast was standard All Inclusive food, sausage ,bacon, eggs, beans ETC also healthier options like fruit and cereal.
Lunch and Dinner never had a problem finding something to eat although they did put out a lot of fish dishes.
I’ll say one thing about the restaurant, I can’t help thinking the hotel laid off staff recently as there was only 2 staff welcoming people and clearing tables so they were under a fair bit of pressure at times to get tables ready causing a Q to build up of people waiting for a table.
Bar/snack bar
Bar staff very friendly and again the usual All Inclusive Drinks + San Miguel on draught they also have a cocktail list a well.
The snack bar had a great choice of food ranging from burgers, hotdogs, chips to Tuna toasties, Order at bar and the wee woman rings a bell and shouts your room number when ready, ideal if you don’t fancy lunch.
Read a lot of reviews saying about trouble getting loungers ETC, never had a prob getting a decent spot that week, but not sure what it would be like at a peak time.
Entertainment
Sol and Belen the Entertainment team worked very hard during the day with activities like darts, table tennis, rifle shooting (did the rifle shooting and got 1 point so that was end of that for me) my favourite was the water polo ,great bunch of people and a fantastic laugh ,also scored the winning goal into my brother in 3 games(sorry Tom).
Evening entertainment had the kids mini disco to start with Belen and varied every night with acrobats, bingo, singer, parrot show, magic show, birds of prey, quizzes Etc.
ES CANA’R
The hotel was fairly central to everything in the resort, beach about 5 min walk, loads of shops, Sampled a few pub, “Montemar” was first one when you leave hotel ,friendly place and sells food up to 3am(chips pizza etc) + free WIFI ,further down was “Grannys bar” run by a guy called Jason ,had his hands full when most of the men from hotel came to watch Scotland game  and take over the karaoke later on ,nice wee pub, decent prices and again free WIFI, the only other pub we went into was Apache who did a 2 for 1 offer on drinks at certain times and served food daily (only had breakfast one day and was enjoyable) and again free WIFI.
Also a small bus station a few min walk away, from there you can get bus to Santa Eulalia (1 euro 55) and a bus to Ibiza town(2 euro 25) from there ,boat leaves harbour at beach for Ibiza town but a bit more expensive.
If your up early enough head down to the beach area and watch the sunrise ..beautiful.

All in all a great hotel and having stayed in playa den Bossa the last five years, I was very impressed by Es cana’r and would definitely come back for holiday at a peak time.

First time abroad with our girls age 6 & 4. Arrived at 11am on 12 Oct after an early start from Glasgow. Reception staff great. One Spanish & one English lady. Room wasnt ready but we only waited for 30 mins to receive our key for the one bedroomed apartment with corner balcony overlooking pool on one side and seaview on the other (Room 417). Room was lovely and spacious enough for us. Only gripe was the fold down sofa was too short for us so we swapped with the kids for their bed...sorted!
Food was good with many choices. Kids liked the snack bar where you got toasties/burgers/sandwiches from 10.30 am to 6.30 pm. That solved the fussy-kids problem most families get when children are faced with food they have never tried before when in the main restaurant!
No problem with sunbeds although the ones at the far end of the pool lost the sun after 4pm.
Activities for kids were also great and taken by a young smiling Spanish girl called BELEN who was fantastic with the kids. Most kids activities were at the small pool which was 20 yards from the main pool. Our kids preferred to sit with us at the main pool which is approx 4 feet at the shallow end (6' 10" at deep end) so keep an eye on your kids if they cant swim properly!
There is also adult entertainment at the big pool daily for those who want to. This was taken by a lovely Spanish girl named SOL who was, to say the least, brilliant at getting people involved without cajoling you too much if you didn't want to do anything. SOL and BELEN were really hard working girls who made every effort to make our holiday enjoyable. This also involved night time entertainment which was taken by BELEN at 8.30pm for the kids- mostly dancing on stage, and then at 10.30pm by SOL who again was superb and really entered into the spirit of things
The resort of Es Cana is relaxed and family orientated although there were a few young couples that we met who told us they loved it. Plenty of bars and restaurants
Overall a great holiday via Thomas Cook. Flights on time going out but delayed by 1 hour on return
Would definitely return to Hotel Azuline Atlantic although I will look into booking it separately as a few people I spoke to got the holiday much cheaper arranging flights independently. The resort is only 30/45 mins from the airport
Finally, many thanks again to the hotel and entertainment staff who made our family holiday brilliant!

Room Tip: Room 417 was good (corner balcony) although if I had pressed harder I might have been able to get a...

we stayed with our 2 children age 9 & 12 from 9th oct -16th oct, and have to say we were more than pleased with the hotel, our check-in was very quick an efficient with reception staff more than friendly giving our children notebooks and crayons, we were delighted with our room for all we didn't have any view we did have a massive 2 bedroomed apartment with 2 bathrooms, 2 showers and a bath which was great with 2 kids, bar staff were always very happy and friendly with kids too, Belen and Sol were fantastic with kids and adults alike keeping both amused throughout the day and evening.
We ate in the restraint 3 times a day and only once in 7 days had to queue (possibly due to the fact Scotland and England football matches were on) the food n the whole was good with trays being replenished before food ran out but we did find the food to be luke warm rather than hot, breakfast had a great selection of cereals, pastries and cooked foods although the staff were rushed off there feet they kept restraint spotless at all times, we had read previous to going on holiday there was a shortage of sun loungers which is laughable as there were dozens of them even if we felt they were all too close to each other, fab holiday had by all and we would highly recommend to anyone with a family

Had a great time with our two teenage kids at the Atlantic during the October break. The activities were co-ordinated brilliantly by the tireless Sol and our son participated in shooting, basketball, darts but especially enjoyed the water polo! Our apartment was spotless and always well maintained, the decor and layout fantastic. Our balcony looked onto the main road which we all enjoyed as people watchers and also looking at the sun rising over the sea. The food was good ( salads were plentiful and varied) and the service was fast and efficient though not four star fayre. Plastic glasses at the pool are a great idea as the kids were running about and glass in the pool would be severely uncool. The beach nearby is lovely but travel to the Hippy Beach for a more authentic feel. Loved every minute of our stay and would like to thank all the staff for making our stay enjoyable

Booked this hotel for my Birthday as a family Holiday. I was very impressed by the standard of the hotel it was spotless the maids all did a brill job... On arrival at reception we were checked in promptly and the receptionist was very friendly. The food however was ok but even with the hotel not fully booked i failed to see how they cope in full season given the small size of the resturant...prepare to queue... The Bar waiters did a brill job but i found the Beer too Gassy and weak and served day and night in horrible plastic cups...ask for a glass if you stay inside the bar !!!! The daytime/ nightime entertainment was also very good the team worked very hard. The snack bar in the daytime is very good for Burgers/ chips/hotdogs etc... The location is excellent as is the Resort...... All in all it was a very good holiday and i would recommend... Dont know about peak season times though !!!!!! I would score it a good 8 out of 10

We stayed for 2weeks 11th Oct to 25th, party of 6 (4 adults 2 kids) studio rooms

on arrival one of the rooms wasnt ready at 1pm which would have been a pain if travelling alone we had to put all our cases in the one room so we had lunch then got acess .
( however a few days in I realised why the room 523 wasnt ready.... read on)

Rooms are clean and tidy, kettle n cups along with microwave and fridge, decor it places a little tired and balcony glass stopping you falling over only held up by 2 screws not 4 as the brackets are made for in all 3 of the rooms I seen in, all on the top floor!

However our 2nd day our room 523 stank off blocked drains and sewarage I complained and was told the whole island is like it due to the weather! and the man will come up at 4.30pm however after 10mins a cleaner arrived with a airwick plug in which to be fair did the trick for 1 day then the smell was unreal and I didnt not sleep as all I wanted to do was vomit! I went to reception at 6.45am after spending the night outside on the balcony and was asked to return after 8am to see the allocations staff, which I did and Miguel greeted me and was helpful and arranged for a new room 2hrs later once the guests in the new room had checked out, (I now suspect the reason 523 wasnt ready was becuase of the smell problem on the day we arrived and they were trying to mask it as another review mentions the same issue in 523!) However we took residence of room 502 for the rest of our stay and it was fine however in the studio room u get 2 single beds and a sofa bed not really great from a supposed 4 star hotel 3 proper singles would have been better in my opinion.

Onto the resturant and food, very understaffed tbh queues were seen daily at breakfast and dinner times. I suspect people were out or ate at the snack bar area nr the pool for lunch. Food in the restaurant is very repetative and always the same and as other reviews said luke warm at best and very slow to replenish empty food trays, for a week you could put up with it but for 2 weeks we were really fed up with eating the same stuff day in day out, some food incorrectly labelled on regular basis i.e the soup. I can also confirm Fernando the comedor was rude to other guests at times and very impatient.

Food at the snack bar is freshly cooked, hot and tasty for lunch which is where we ended up for the last week of out hol with a good variety.

The bar was great with a decent choice of drink and ice creams, the staff are excellent alberto, chris and javi were great n cocktails were brill. The bar is far from the baby pool so if your a single parent it would be a knightmare tho!

Entertainment was poor tbh some acts the same week in week out, Sol is amazing tho and did her best with the resources the hotel had and again Belén was great with the kids but with only the 2 of them with a full hotel isnt good enough I blame the hotel for trying to cut corners with stafing levels and tbh Sol and Belén were too good for the hotel they deserve better.

Swimming pools arent the biggest no room to swim, baby pool only 1foot deep then the shallow end of the bigger pool is well over a metre and too deep for kids the baby pool is to shallow for, I would say the hotel is ok for babys or teenagers but poor for the inbetween ages my kids are 9 & 5 so the pools were useless to them we had to go to the beach for water fun.

To be fair the hotel could be so much more but it seemed they were trying to run the hotel on a shoe string in terms of staffing levels and food budget, all I would say is I can only imagine in peak times this hotel must be a nightmare in terms of queues for food the pool etc after seeing it as bad in October.

To sumarise its a clean hotel with mostly great staff but poor food, pools and few issues especially
Some rude and ignorant german folk who seem to think they own the placed are very rude to kids and push in, although I was chatty with a few german guests who were great.

Es canar is a great little resort enough to do inc boat trips, hippie market every Wednesday which is brill, n plenty of shops on the 15min walk on the way to it, the beach is weedy at times in places but lovely for a swim, we wont return to a azuline hotel as this is there best hotel so I hate to think what the rest are like!

Room Tip: Ask for pool facing room the noise from hotel ereso is Loud

Dear Matt W,
I can not but apologize for the bad experience you have had with your first assigned room. It is true that changes of weather and air preasure from it has caused in the past some issues with smell. These freak issues have been looked into and have been fixed since the day you left us. I will take the opportunity to thank you for your kind words towards our hardworking teams and I will make sure to let them know about your feedback. Thank you also for taking the time to write this review up for it is being looked into for further improvement.

We have just returned from a 7 night stay during the October hols. On arrival check in was quick & straight forward, receptionist was very nice giving my youngest daughter notepad & crayons. We had 2 bed apt which was immaculate & very spacious, daily fresh towels, beds fairly comfy & a double bed for a change!
This is our 2nd family holiday to Es Cana which is a lovely resort which is still fairly quiet compared to other nearby towns. The hotel is well situated for the beach 2 mins walk.
We were all inclusive which was defo value for money. The food was alright , dinner was better than breakfast. The snack bar provides a good choice for snacking by the pool. Bar staff worked so hard all day & night serving the thirsty holiday makers & kept smiling!
The kids club was just fab run by Belen who is just so lovely with the kids she has so much energy & is always smiling, she also does nightly kids disco which was a hit. Sol also works so hard organising games for the adults during the day & helping with entertainment at night. The evening entertainment was actually very good better than we had imagined.
We would definitely consider returning to this hotel again as we had such a lovely time & the beautiful sunshine helped too!

Room Tip: We were on the 4th floor our room looked onto main street but had sea views which was a bonus.
