We stayed two weeks all-inclusive at the Atlantic. The first week was so quiet as the hotel was only a quarter full-lovely! The second week was such a contrast as ,once full, the hotel became a different beast and much noisier due to large family groups arriving as school half-term approached. That said, after eleven at night things got calmer and there was no problem getting a good night's sleep.
We had a studio apartment on the fourth floor overlooking the pool (room 413).Lovely view from the balcony of the pool, children's play area and ,in the distance, the sea and pine-covered hills.Nice sunsets as a bonus.
The room was spacious with a modern design, and had a sofa bed at one end and twin beds near the entrance. If you like hard mattresses, like I do, then you'll love it. If not, you are in for a very uncomfortable time.
Only criticism was the layout of the bathroom -small bath with overhead shower was ok, but the shower screen was unable to move due to the position of the sink so it was difficult to get in and out of the bath. For senior citizens and those with any kind of back problem this could prove difficult.
TV was a small flat screen with Sky News and BBC News as well as several foreign language channels.Nice touch was the tea and coffee making facilities.Even though we were on all-inclusive it was still nice to wake up in the morning and make a cuppa before breakfast.
If you didn't make breakfast then from 10:30 onwards Kerry at the snack bar would provide you with toasties and other grilled delights. You could even wash it down with a coffee served by Alberto and his staff at the bar.
If you did manage to make it to the restaurant, then you would be faced with a reasonable buffet which at dinner was themed and repeated after a week. The staff in the restaurant, ably led by Fernando, did a good job of setting up the tables and keeping the customers happy.
The pool area had really good sunbeds and we had no problem getting two under an umbrella, although in the second week this wasn't as easy. At least we didn't have to join any queues.
The snack tables need a facelift, as does the whole bar area. It was reminiscent of a working men's club in the seventies!
The hotel is situated around the corner from the main street in Es Canar,a perfect spot to stroll down to the seashore or the beach.
The resort hasn't changed much in the twenty years since our last visit, and is just the tonic at the end of the summer. We were very lucky with the weather , having temperatures in the high twenties and lots of sunny days.A nice place to be.
My overwhelming memory of the hotel will be the friendliness of the staff.Any criticisms I have of the hotel amount to very little when looked at as a whole. I'd go back in an instant.
