Can't fault this hotel. Breath-taking views of the sea from our balcony and the hotel is situated right on the beach at one end of the beautiful bay.Staff are professional, friendly and helpful.Rooms are spotless.Food is so varied and well presented. My daughter is vegetarian and could find lots to choose from- best veg selection she has ever had! Loved the lion's head and bird melon sculptures. I would love to return here soon

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the sea at the side of the hotel are very quiet and peaceful

just arrived back from a week away with my partner, 2 daughters , teenage sona nd friend. we have saved for a year for our holiday as a lifelong traveller to escana there is no where i else i would go. even tho my parents own an apartment in escana i opted for the miami as i wanted entertainment and clubs for the children. After arriving at the miami hotel after a 2am flight we unfortunately had a 3.5 hour wait for a suitableroom to begiven to us i first was given a room for four and told six of us would have to sleep in it which i declined and then offered another room which wasnt suitable. I was then told my teenage son and friend and my 6 year old daughter would have to sleep in a room 12 bedrooms away!! which i was appauled at. we were eventually given a room which i have to say i took out of exhaustion... and after declining that my two daughters shud top and tail on a sofa we were finally given another two single beds so we were extremely cramped. ....putting this aside the holiday was amazing just wish we had been given better accomodation. The main downside to the whole hotelis lack of information.....we onlyrealsied on the last night that the room had air con and that in between meals light sandwiche snacks and fruit etc are available in the restaraunt again we didnt realise till 4 days in. We paid for all inclusive which was great for us all especially the children you dont have a thing to worry about they can help themselves all day long......the entertainment and panda club are brilliant my daughter loved it and tom one of the panda club guys is fabulous so friendly and cant do enough to please, the house keeping staff are brilliant aswell..... escana itself is fabulous like a little haven.............we will definately be returning as apart from the room blunder and lack of information this hotel is fabulous for young families and you feel completely safe . please just print up an information sheet for your guests......and also a late night snack bar(payable) would be a dream come true lol

We stayed here for a week 21st May 2012, after having previously stayed at the Apartments several times we had high expectations for the hotel. How wrong were we? We arrived to be greated by armies of intoxicated people staggering around the reception and public areas. On entering the 5th floor, there was a constant stench in the corridors, we were greated by the smallest room you can imagine for 2 adults and 2 children. Still in 1970's decor. The bathroom was a decent size, and clean, but the balcony was virtually non-existant.
We were told by reception staff we could go and have a snack as it was a late flight (checked in just before midnight), however there was some stale bread and a few dried up pieces of cheese available (perhaps because other hotel guests had decided that 3 meals and snacks throughout the day was not sufficient for them and they needed more.)

At breakfast time the following day we realised what a mistake we have made with this hotel. To say that this was like feeding time at the zoo would be an insult to animals!! People were pushing and shoving, not just each other but grown men shoving my 5 year old son out of the way to get to the food first. The food was a poor quality in general, with extremely low hygiene. I saw one child openly sneeze over the scrambled egg. Lunch and dinner were equally poor - if you ate a mincemeat dish like lasagne it tasted like dog food, the waiting staff took your plates whilst you were still chewing, making you feel like you were an inconveinance to them. The dining room was excessively hot - we tried to open a window and sit by it and they were slammed shut by the staff without any explanation, and when we protested we were told the boss insisted it was shut due to the air conditioning (doors were open at the other end of the room). Food quality is very poor, as was choice, if you like burgers and chips every day you'll be ok. The only good selection was the fruit and salad bars.

Around the pool is very cramped - in true British fashion everybody races to put their towels down before breakfast (see YouTube video of this) this is still going on even though there are signs aasking you not to. There are no spaces between sunbeds so getting on and off them is an art.
From lunch time most people are walking around unable to stand properly, whilst kids run around unchecked and causing havoc. One 10 year old was visably drunk to the point he was unable to stand. You have to queue for every drink - the bar staff were surprising friendly considering who they were dealing with on a daily basis - but the bar shuts at 11.30pm sharp - if you want even a coffee after this you are stuffed. The interior of the bar is like a shabby working mens club, uncomfortable seating very crammed together , it was equally cramped outside on the patio, cheap garden furniture so close together you couldn't get a pushchair through to a spare table - would be no good for wheelchair users.

Please note, I was born in the Eastend of London, so I am by no means a snob but I have never had to mix with such an unsavoury bunch of people on mass.
We had to check outselves in with First Choice - with no rep around on check in and no information about a welcome meeting etc, and on the one occassion we managed to find our rep, 'Rob' and asked him to help us with an issue, he promised to do so and was never seen again. So we were left to sort the problem for ourselves. Our flight was not out until 10pm - so we wanted to extend our room for a late checkout as we were travelling with 2 babies under 1. We tried to arrange this 5 days prior to checkout day and were told they could not confirm it until the morning of checkout. On the morning we were due to check out they were still refusing us a room, until we had to argue our point and threatened to refuse to leave our room, the reception staff relented and moved us 5 floors to an even smaller room for the fee of 34 euros.
On leaving there was no rep to pick us up on the coach, or drop us at the airport, and our parting scene was of a severely drunk man asleep on his suitcase outside the hotel.

I am shocked and disgusted that First Choice would allow themselves to be associated with this hotel which is out-dated and unfriendly. But their service was equally poor on this trip. The only thing I can say as a positive is that our room was spotless and the cleaning staff were very pleasant. Be warned, if you want Butlins in the sun then this is the hotel for you - if you've got any sort of standards then steer clear. I will be putting complaints in to both First Choice and trading standards.

Room Tip: Don't let them put you in a room at ends with a 19 - they are so small you wouldn't fit a dog in there!
