“Good Spa hotel, excellent situation”
Reviewed October 20, 2013

Excellent situation in the center of Kuressaare. Good service, romantic atmosphere and ok spa with plenty of well-being-services. Hotel renovated 2006 (needs partly updating in near future). DeLuxe room with bath and balcony was great. Standard rooms were ok.

Grand Rose Spa Hotel is very well situated. The rooms (or at least our room) are beautifully decorated and clean. Breakfast and lunch in the restaurant were excellent and the service too.
The Spa treatments were adequate but no more and quite expensive. In the Spa area i was wondering, if there could be more informational signs like "Showers" ( we found the separate bathrooms for ladies and gentleman only when we were going out after swimming) and "Exit to the hotel". Most of the Spa customers obviously don't wash themselves properly. Only the open showers were easy to find and there you have to wash with your swimming suit on.

Centrally located hotel and spa offers good value for money.
Our second floor room had 2 separate rooms and a small balcony facing Kuressaare's main street.
As this side faces sun most of the day, the rooms were quite hot by the end of the day. Although there is was no air conditioning in our rooms, our room was nicely equipped with the fan, that was enough to allow us good sleep.
The courtyard has been converted from a parking lot into a very nice summer terrace with lots of small lounges and tables. Outdoor kitchen served local food, the smoked flatfish was excellent.
The spa includes now a direct access to an open air terrace with sunbeds and chairs so you can come out to enjoy sunshine between your pool and treatment sessions.
The service was fast, polite and attentive.
Pets are welcome to this hotel so meeting few friendly dogs in the lobby or courtyard should not cause a surprise.

We traveled there during the mid-summer holidays. The arrival day was heavy raining so we decided to stay in the hotel spa all afternoon. In the spa doesn't have instruction board. (ex. from where you can get spa towels. However, we found out that just go and ask the bar staff, as she can keep the room key and give you the spa towels.)
In the spa, there are variety of saunas (White birch, steam, aroma, 75℃ and 95℃ hot sauna) and jet bath, pool and also Japanese style hot bath(not too hot, about 36-37℃) which was my favorite! If you pay extra, there are also optional spa treatments. We tried the Doctor fish treatment and it was extremely fun experience!!

Hotel breakfast was almost same everyday, but there is cappuccino machine which gives you better morning coffee. :) For dinner, the hotel restaurants food was always nice.

One thing I didn't like was hotel shower. It might be a too old style shower for this hotel.

Stayed two nights in this amazing rosy hotel! It has a shabby-chic appearance with all kinds of roses everywhere. The carpets, the curtains, the bedside lamps, the furniture, the chain on the toilet in reception, the pictures, the towels - you name it and its got roses on it! The bed was really comfy and the room was a good size. Although we were very close to reception (room 102) we had no noise apart from the swimming pool over which our room was located. The buffet breakfast was very good although on our second morning a swarm of locusts had rampaged through the food and the kitchen struggled to keep up with refills. Compared to the hotel we stayed in Tallinn, this was very good value for money. We didn't eat in the Rose restaurant as we were tempted by the Trip Advisor reviews of the nearby La Perla, which we thought was outstanding. We didnt try the spa so cant comment on it. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

I was here last year. I was excited about everything. But what has happened??? The room had several broken things. The bathroom water from the shower flowed all over the floor. The surprise was that our room is not intended for shower gel. Although we stayed in the common double room. We was very surprised. Spa area was very crowded, loud shouting children and angry grandmas. Breakfast is really very good, but to get a coffee stand in line for several minutes. Something definitely happened and not for the better. Unfortunately... I do not understand where are incurred 4 stars?

Hotel is quite nice, but definitely it is a bad option for couples or people, who is seeking for some privacy and quite relaxation. It has been truly annoying to make spa treatments and hear a very loud noise of kids coming from the spa-pool area (the rooms with spa-treatments are located right in this section). Anyway, we wanted to relax, but we could not. Maybe for families with kids it is a suitable place to stay.

Certainly the hotel shoud be renovated, because holes in walls and a tyred beds don't leave unpleasant impression. Saaremaa is beautiful and we will definitly come again, but to another hotel.
